For all the talk about how bad our talent is, answer me this one question. All those bad teams that beat us over the last few years, all those mediocre programs that blew us out in 2022. Are they more talented? Is Pitt just loaded with first rounders? Is MTSU pushing for a playoff spot? Is Duke heading to the SEC because they dominate the ACC too often? Nah. Those teams all suck. They have less talent than Miami. Their coaches would kill to have a lot of our players.

When I say Miami has talented players, I don’t mean on the level of Georgia or Alabama. I mean relative to their opponents. This team had more than enough good players to win a majority of their games this year. And anybody disagreeing with that is either the biggest corch slurper or straight up lying because nobody was predicting 5 wins before the season started. This team, against this schedule was easily an 8-9 win team. ****, they won 7 games last year and that got the coach fired.

Are we going to miss 90% of the guys who entered the portal? Nah. They weren’t even playing so them being gone means nothing besides having an open spot for someone else. But those guys weren’t why Miami went 5-7. You can’t blame terrible on field results on guys who didn’t play. A good staff would have been able to maximize the talent available and still build a better roster for the future. These guys laid an egg and now the whole narrative is: “well we just didn’t have the talent”. Nah man. You didn’t have the talent to compete with the best teams. You had more than enough talent to at least be competitive with the trash teams on our schedule.

It's worth noting that Jackson was a one year rental we picked up from the portal, so is he really "One of our guys"? Is FSU really an upgrade or just lucky and will return to their level?

We are supposed to worship modern behavioral economics. This individual is not interpreting things quite the way I do.

Much of what Adam Smith wrote about came from conversations with David Hume and him growing up as a rich merchant and seeing the impact that deriving common individuals from opportunity to become something other than a person who makes one step in the development of rods etc.

He talked about invisible hand in The Theory of Moral Sentiments once as well if I remember correctly.

Wild that the father of modern economics only published two books and the rest of his work was burned when he died.

I mean he played more football for Miami than any other college team so far.

Right now FSU is the better team/program. In two years, those roles could be completely flipped but right at this moment they’re a much better team.

They certainly over achieved this year. FSU's recruiting has sucked though. They've done pretty good in the portal, but that's not sustainable. I'm hoping we see a sharp turnaround than 2 years.
 
Ballon decided to withdraw from and has been removed. What does that tell you about his options
 
Added Haye to Temple and Harrell to UMass. So far we have seen mostly G5 with the SMU Canes connection. Nothing that has really surprised yet

I read somewhere in this forum that it’s possible Balom only pulled his name as a formality (maybe similar to Pope) only to re-enter the portal in the spring. Hope that’s not true. He’s a great depth piece at a position of need.

Agreed. You need depth. Balom might never be a star but he’s a guy who can play in the rotation and maybe fill in for an injured starter. You need guys like that on the roster
