The incompetence continues / practice fields

Keep repeating that, Blake.

You are wrong.

actually if you scroll through twitter, no one has cared sicne the story dropped. the initial buzz was there, but now its onto other stuff. most of the stuff is still centered on the KObe Bryant stuff esp after Shaq and Jerry Wests words on TNT. thats not to say it is annoying to have this in the media, but its literally a small fragment of the entire weeks coverage. stop blowing it up to something it isnt nationally. ****, outside of the initial 247 story, there hasnt been any buzz about it off the college twitter accounts.

You’ve gone off the deep end man. You keep thinking this is a major deal.
lets worry about what recruits are going to think about what we used to have when we have brand new fields but lets not worry about the constant public trashing of the program on social media (which the kids look at) by the people that are supposed to love it.

you know what hurts recruiting more? going 6-7. fix that first then worry bout what a field looks like in jan

Hey, man, you are assuming that Blake will make sure that the new grass is watered and fertilized.

I fully expect Beta Blake will get all passive-aggressive and let the new grass die so that he can say "I told you so" and go back to his precious dangerous grass.

Yea fūck Blake and all, but this field thing is over the top.

It’s not Blake that I’m worried about, I don’t think he’ll be our A.D. at this time next year hopefully, it’s the program after Blake is gone. The NFL did this shlt because we wouldn’t pay for getting the field the way they wanted it, I seriously doubt it was “unsafe“, but since we decided to hardball them, they decided to put the knife in us publicly. The whole affair stinks.

thats the other thing. this AD situation is going to take care of itself. Neither the baskeball team or the football team are doing well right now. he is as good as gone if things don't turn around. at this point bashing the AD is like beating a dead horse.

Here's what you're missing. They replace the field every year before football practices resume. The UM football team would not have been practicing on the current version of the field. Regardless of it's condition. The 49ers expected UM to replace the turf for them to practice on it in January even though the UM football team will not be using the field for practice until March. Which is why I don't care that the 49ers had to have their own sod put down at greentree.

I get all of that, but it doesn't matter if what is being publicized is "The #49ers nearly had to move their practice plans because of an unsuitable field at The U."

It destroys the whole reason for hosting an NFL team in the first place.

A competent AD has this sorted on the front end so it doesn't end up making you look bad.

I didn't say it was a "major deal".

I said that it will matter to certain people. Coaches, players, recruits.

I said that it is another (smaller) issue in a long series of blunders made by Blake James, who needs to be fired.

Shouldn't you be getting back to work at Hecht now? You have about 90 minutes before you have to clock out.

The fall back Hecht retort when someone won’t run around with their hair on fire screaming the end is near.

So embarrassingly predictable.

You think it’s a huge thing. I don’t.

Not a big deal.

As if I give a ****e about Twitter. I don't care what is "trending".

The headline is out. It is eternal. It can be googled at any time. This will be used against us by other coaches, and recruits will hear about this for years. Any minimization that attempts to cite current social media trends is just ridiculous.

I am not blowing it up to something that it isn't "nationally". I am raising the issue ON A HURRICANE SPORTS WEBSITE as it relates to the incompetent behavior of the Athletic Director. Nothing more, nothing less.

Are we supposed to sit here and pretend that our house isn't on fire, and we can't lift a bucket to put it out? I love my alma mater, I will praise UM when we do the right thing, and I will criticize UM when we do the wrong thing. I don't judge "right" and "wrong" by "buzz on college twitter accounts".

We had a chance to brag about spending $300K (or allowing $300K to be spent) on new sod, and Blake turned that into a story that (while maybe not the top headline) will forever be about the NFL viewing our practice fields as "dangerous" while we (initially) refused to make the improvements.

THAT is the reality. Not the "buzz". Not the "trend". Not the "hot gossip". Blake figuratively **** all over himself by childishly refusing to upgrade our practice fields, all over a RELATIVELY small amount of money. That is the truth.

Think about how bad this is.

It took us A YEAR to grow a field that was in such bad condition, the NFL immediately deemed it unsafe.

Then, we refuse to change the field unless the Niners pay for it.

I mean how are we so incompetent at every single facet of athletics?

How? Blake James. How Blake James? The BOT.

you should care about twitter bc boomer, social media decides what actually is blowing up...its better that it isnt on social media as a trend bc less people are talking about it allowing the story to die and eventually become a non issue. you seem like you need a ******* xanax old man. either way, if you dont care for social media then espn doesnt even have it as a top headline. coach K going off on his own student section is literally more popular than the grass wars

People acting like this don't hurt us..

Kids with nfl aspirations will know our field was a joke to the nfl for years to come

Oh, I'm so hurt by your lame "boomer" comment.

Coaches and recruits will read (and remember) this story, even it it's not "literally more popular" than the Duke nonsense.

lmoa. 17 year olds will not sit there and do a dive into google to find the story. if it isnt on their feed, on a home page of their favorite sports sites, then wont care. i think you care more than 16-18 year old does right now. im glad it fell off the map once 7-8 pm hit last night.
