The incompetence continues / practice fields

The county has allotted $4 million in tax money to subsidize the super bowl including $1 million just to pay for the teams’ hotel rooms. So the billionaire owner of the 49ers had to spend his own money to improve the practice field that they’re using for free? Cry me a river.
It's the principal of the fiasco.

Another one of the Hecht apologists. 88 posts in 9 years, and you blew one of them defending Blake.

The issue is NOT the re-sod. If the negotiations had been handled quietly and Blake had acted like "how can I be of assistance today", then we could justifiably brag about having soaked the NFL for $100K.

BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENED.

Instead, Beta Blake had to act like he was so attached to his precious grass that he could not possibly do anything. And it is THIS behavior that will be used against us in the future.

Assuming that the Hecht apologists are correct, and that the NFL routinely re-sods fields prior to Super Bowls, then HOW IS IT that we are the ONE FACILITY that fights the NFL and makes ourselves look like buffoons?

Show me all the other articles about all the other Super Bowl practice facilities over the past decade that REFUSED to re-sod for safety purposes.

Google all those articles. I'll wait.
Was there using of the fields sudden or did UM and the NFL agree months in advance?

Why would there not be a discussion regarding the field being resodded prior to practice? Just malpractice on UM’s part and a blunder that falls on James.

It's the principal of the fiasco.
I agree. Still **** them.
This is like your buddy from out of town asking if he can crash on your couch for a couple days and then *****ing that you didn’t buy a new couch for him to sleep on.
If UM is charging the 49ers for the facilities, they have a right to complain. If you’re using someone else’s facilities for free and they’re not up to your standards, it’s up to you to improve your situation.

This misses the point.

We run our OWN football program, outside of whenever the SuperBowl comes to town. It would behoove us to maintain our fields to the safest possible standard at all times, no? i mean, for OUR benefit. I couldn't give a **** about the 49ers.

The replace the fields every year before spring practice. The maintenance schedule revolves around when UM needs the fields.

That all sounds great, but now what's out there is that Miami's fields aren't safe, at least not to NFL standards.

That generates follow up questions like "why?" and most likely the answers are kept internally. Absent any reasonable explanation from the AD you're left with the perception.

And keep that in mind when you think about why they brought the super bowl teams to practice at the U. The only benefit it seems is favorable PR.
And they ended up ******* that up. This is total incompetence.

The whole purpose was to show the rest of the football world "hey we're the Miami Hurricanes and we are capable of hosting NFL Super Bowl franchises" and it's turned into "hey we're the Miami Hurricanes and we have facilities that are a danger to our own athletes".

We would've been better off not hosting anyone and letting those ****ers run around at tropical park.

And when recruits visit other programs, you hand them a printout of the "Miami practice fields unsafe for NFL" article.

***** the people whining about "doom and gloom". The story is eternal, whether you admit it or not.

Beta Blake lost the PR war by digging his heels. We could be telling recruits "we are up to NFL standards" for the next decade except for the fact that Blake botched this situation.

LOL - Actually we are at the NFL standards now.

There is no PR war cause literally no one cares.

Hey, man, you are assuming that Blake will make sure that the new grass is watered and fertilized.

I fully expect Beta Blake will get all passive-aggressive and let the new grass die so that he can say "I told you so" and go back to his precious dangerous grass.

recruits and their parents will care.
Here's what you're missing. They replace the field every year before football practices resume. The UM football team would not have been practicing on the current version of the field. Regardless of it's condition. The 49ers expected UM to replace the turf for them to practice on it in January even though the UM football team will not be using the field for practice until March. Which is why I don't care that the 49ers had to have their own sod put down at greentree.

Recruits will see a brand new, NFL approved new field sitting next to a state of the art IPF.

Recruits will hear how the NFL and the 49ers had to hold a gun to Blake's head to get him to install a less-dangerous surface.

Recruits can also find all the comments made by our players regarding past injuries. They can also find all the lawsuits that our prior coaches had to file to get paid their severance.

It doesn't take a lot of effort to find plenty of ammunition that offsets a "state of the art IPF".

You’ve gone off the deep end man. You keep thinking this is a major deal.

there are multiple ways to look at this but our fans as usual look at the one way least favorable to the school and then lead the way on social media trashing the school. i get it that sports fans are easily THE most cynical negative group out there. just go the comments under every post by anyone and read the bitter negativity but i don't understand why our fans get off on trashing something they are supposed to love.
