The Foreclosure (7/12)

1) We dont have a good track record of developing kids. (We need multiple kids picked in first two rounds over next few drafts).
2) Beside one/two weekends a year our college atmosphere is a joke compared to the big dogs.
3) NIL aint seeing the ROI

Last year was a complete failure and will cost us.

3 of our 4 best players last year were from Texas. My answer is why the **** not?
context.

Cam Ward and Dam Martinez were out the portal. You can get portal kids from Alaska. They are mercenaries.

Elijah Arroyo is a south florida kid who family moved. Hes not truly a texas kid.

Im good on going to Texas offering top qbs, and going to the big power house dallas area schools. Everything else in the state has been a waste of time and resources.

Like recruit Duncanville, Oak Cliff, Westlake, Cedar HILL, Desoto.

Because “TeXaS hAS nEvER wOn AnYtHiNG!”

Well neither have we in 25 years, so maybe we should go to the area where the best players on the team that just had our best season in decades are from?
UF, FSU, N GAH **** UCF have won....run the texas list for me please?.

Its a waste of time for the most part becuase elite level texas kids arent coming here. Well the ones they have targeted have said no....so my idea would be to take maybe a lower ranked kid or two from those elite programs to maybe create a pipeline......like we need an edge guy how tf does UF non recruiting *** get a de from Duncanville?.

I perosnally think we should offer the top 5 qbs in texas every year though lol

If so, this program is dead. We'd have no juice, no momentum, no positivity after 4 years. Big time programs fire coaches that perform that way.

Hopefully we're not in that boat.
I could be wrong about this but when he was hired it was very inner circle buddy buddy stuff

Which can be two things:

1. Good because lord knows we’ve needed to commit to a coach and give them resources for decades and we’ve needed people on the same page

2. Potentially bad if things went south because a lot of people’s jobs would be at stake that are looking out for eachother

I’ll leave my personal feelings out of it because if we fired him we would just go out and **** it up anyway, but we are married to him for better or worse unless the wheels really really come off

And Diaz was the DC for 6 recruiting classes.

I think 4 of those classes are irrelevant to the discussion. The HC sets the recruiting strategy. If a HC and DC disagree on offering a player , who do you think wins? I am not going to apply different standards just because it is Manny Diaz.

i already know its weird mario doesnt play up there more so considering he coached at rutgers.

We should have 2 guys from that area minimum in every class.
Did he have any NJ or northeast recruiting responsibility when he was at Rutgers, or was he exclusively recruiting Florida? Also, it might be over two decades since he coached at Rutgers, so its possible that he doesn't have a lot of contacts up in that region at this point.

They just have to show up. Miami for sure could’ve used Lotzier Brooks out of Jersey. He went to Bama, they don’t really have a bunch of ties up here either.

It’s a death of a thousand cuts.

1. The brand isn’t nearly as strong with the youth. These kids care nothing about Miami from 20-30 years ago. They barely remember what they ate for breakfast and it’s a short attention span society on top of it . I have a HS kid that works for me when schools out. He’s a low level D1 commit. He looks at me like I have turds hanging out of my mouth when I try to explain what we used to be. These kids know who’s playing in big games and winning natties. Wins do matter.

2. Development and draft. These recruits pay attention to who’s getting drafted at their positions and who’s being developed. Miami has been almost non existent in the early rounds for a good while. There’s a reason OSU keeps landing stud after stud at wr. Every Saturday there’s a three hour infomercial on the wr position.

3. Conference. Yes it matters , it’s not the end all but it’s one of the ingredients in the cake. These kids know the perception. The Sec is slurped nationally by the day and even more during the season. On top of that they see the draft. They want to be considered the best so the narrative is the Sec is just that. So of course they want to say “ I play in the Sec”. Being in the Acc one hundred percent has a negative affect on things. As I said earlier “ kids have asked for 200 k more to come here because it wasn’t the Sec. Oh and spare me on the ND comparison. That brand is bigger and stronger nationally on top of having their very own network. Also let’s not forget being far more relevant than Miami the last 10–15 years.

4. Coaching. Mario isn’t considered a high level coach , nowhere close , that’s just the blunt truth. Kids want to be coached and well. We brought in a guy everyone knew was an elite recruiter and haven’t got elite results. If he can’t keep Miami top 5-7 in recruiting rankings consistently we’ll get the same results . He’s not going to overcome talent with his gameday coaching.

5. NIL. I save the most important one for last. Kids want to get paid . Miami is a top ten NIL program but they are not elite. There’s 4-5 teams that just play at a different level. Miami is far from being the Rays but nowhere close to being the Dodgers.

The uncomfortable truth is the Miami program and a lot of us fans view the program as something that we aren’t nationally. We’re closer to Pit than Georgia even though most of our recruiting battles are against UGA and teams at their level. Thank god for NIL!! The brand has been abused worse than Tina Turner.

One ten win season every 8-10 years won’t change the narrative and perception. Especially when you nose dive to finish the two times we accomplished double figure wins. Fans nationally believe Ward did everything last year and put cologne on the program . So this year is an absolute must to keep trending up. The one thing Mario has left to tell kids is look at the programs direction, 5,7,10 and double figures again.

The Acccg and a playoff spot is essential. That’s not hyperbole or fan hope. That’s the feeling inside the program. The coaches know how important this year is.

It’s year four and there’s been a lot of equity piled into this roster / staff. Any thing less than improvement is another lost season with a program and fan base stuck in the drive way.

Perfectly put. Playoffs or bust. Maybe I’m jaded, but this feels like a Johnny sins sized bust to me

We will revisit your post at the end of the season. Remember,Manny wasn’t given a Sec type budget and NIL program. The roster is completely Mario’s now. No more alibis for him
Give me a break fam he was an awful coach. Outside of hiring Lashlee and grabbing a couple great portal guys he brought nothing substantial here. Defense got worse every year. Recruiting was nearly dead and he was a lazy recruiter at that. Do you remember Gurvan Hall vs Michigan State ? Yikes. And people seem to overlook how bad it was gonna get with Lashlee leaving had Manny stayed. But of course not having seen the full disaster play out allows a portion of CIS to fantasize about some what if scenario as it pertains to Manny's tenure. That's why its revisionist history.

They caping for Manny Diaz now 😂😂…. down bad on here

Soooo you gave examples of us being on the verge that highlighted Mario’s coaching ineptitude. I’ve been screaming for 3 years that Manny was a better coach and was laughed at. Mario is a perennial 3 loss coach at best. And that’s with him being given everything he needs to compete with the big boys
Gtfoh you must be Manny’s nephew or sumn
