The Foreclosure (7/12)

I won’t sugarcoat it. I’m expecting more bad news, based on recent conversations. There isn’t much confidence on anyone right now, including Derrek Cooper.

I’ve thought we’d get him from the beginning, and still think we can flip him at some point. But we’re behind Texas headed into the announcement. And this is an absolute top priority recruit.

It seems a lot of kids still don’t believe in Miami. And the local players least of all. That’s understandable- they know us the best. Many of our fans don’t believe in us after two decades of disappointment.

The bottom line is we need to get over the hump. We were on the verge when we forgot to kneel against Georgia Tech. We were on the verge when we were up 21-0 on Syracuse. We need to get to the next level as a program to prove we aren’t the place dreams go to die.

Until then, we will be fighting a lot of uphill battles.

Mario only gets fired if he goes 7-5 or worse. That would put him at 29-21.

No coach would hold it against us for firing a guy with that record, coming off a 7-5 year, and no CFPs or conference titles.

(For the record I think we go 10-2)
Better chance I’m the next Miami coach than Mario getting fired at 7-5

He’d have to have a Norvell season for it to even be a conversation

on your first paragraph its kind of silly to think he doesnt because out of all of our coaches he is likely the most disciple to those two guys. So im sure he is in tune in line and communicates with them. But living in the past is what has us in the 20 years long free fall. Also guys were leaving SOUTH FLORIDA then. The whole difference in demographic in Florida and South florida that differs from the places like Texas for example is............We have FOUR DIFFERENT COLLEGES that have claim to fame of winning a MNC. Texas has won once in my life time...no other school in the entire state has even really been relevant. Our local landscape is filled with fans of the other big 3 schools, its not Bama where the state is split...its not TX where its majority ran by UT with tx am and Oklahoma duking it out for players. EVERY COLLEGE IN AMERICA has to come to FLORIDA To recruit and **** near everyone has a connection on their staff. Add to it we are a private school....similar to usc but...ucla sucks so usc should have carte blanche on most of their local grounds. There are a lot of unique factors in the state...and then you have the state of miami which is a cesspool. (Dade n Broward)

On your second paragraph. Agreed. Me and @DMoney are considered the s.fla homers but even we are in agreement on not having time to play the games with em. Honestly they should of bagged Jae Lamar...but they played cute there. Im not as concerned with the 2nd rb situation as i think they can flip a guy like the kid committed to wisky rather easy.

Mario strength does NOT play well in Texas we arent landing kids from there. He targets a few elite kids from tx yearly but they never come quite frankly its almost a waste of time the way we do it. Im good on scrapping on recruiting tx save for the dallas area. We need to continue with the BISHOP GORMANS (NEVADA)....use his LA Contacts (oaks christian)..we need not go into Mississippi...we need to divert funds into NJ/Phily......THE DMV area...and spend some money in NOLA (lsu wont take everybody) The chicago run was fruitful.
NJ/Philly kids would definitely go to Miami

They were in on him so much they bagged up Spofford before him. A kid from Mission viejo or wherever that is.

Hes a take but its clear who they prioritize cause when they do guys jump in the boat quick lol

Ya but imo Spafford isn't a one dimensional slot.

And I wish it was as easy as prioritizing some of these guys. We just prioritized a ton that committed to the SEC. I mean I have to believe Tank Jones, L.Brown, etc…Were going to be heavily prioritized and paid very well at UM.

As long as UM stays in the top 10 and scout well, I could care less really. UM isn’t gonna get majority of their top priority targets until they start winning consistently. Just no more ****** top 10 classes like 2023 or 2022.

Flo had an interesting conversation last night on his Sunday YouTube show. He said there is a disconnect currently with the tri-county programs that is in large part attributable to the departure of some guys in either analyst roles or GA roles or other staff this spring. He says he can point to at least 5 guys in particular that left who had deep and established ties to the local schools- their replacements don’t come in with the same kind of relationships. It’s definitely affected a few recruitments.

The question is why? Did Mario fill the spots with guys whose strength was more national
Recruiting or did he simply not find the right people to step into those spots? Or perhaps it’s just a matter of time to get them established.

Seems like a valid point. Apparently Streeter {Footballville} had a show over the weekend also and talked about this issue and some other things locally that are affecting so fla recruiting. Flo said Streeter stopped short of calling people out but he was pretty honest about what he hears/knows.
So it’s back to Al Golden / Randy Shannon days.

That’s some know-nothing word salad bull**** that’s for sure

Not that it’s incorrect (and that’s how you play the game) but every one of us could have said the same exact thing

3 of our 4 best players last year were from Texas. My answer is why the **** not?
We should probably be recruiting Houston for sure.

One issue though is Texas and A&M are clearly able to just purely out bag us, and that shouldn't even be up for debate. And to me Texas HSers are far more loyal to in state programs than Florida ones are - especially South Florida ones. The Texas programs have the money to easily win every in state recruiting battle. Even SMU just out bagged us for the TE from Duncanville. I mean I think just in general we have less brand pull for a Texas recruit than like a Chicago/LA/general East coast recruit...

Thanks for telling me Texas schools have money. Even though I live here, I had only heard rumors up until this point.
