I made a comment on a post after the Louisville game about a sub group of "fans" that "is unsatisfied with anything less than complete and total annihilation of every single opponent each week." They are The Faction.

Considering our history since 2003, I get this stupidity after an uninspired loss to a team we should've beat. However, I'm seeing these creatures come out again this morning after a 42-7 win over Stanford. Yes, I saw the first half. Yes, it was uninspired (again) Yes, I get the PTSD as I was feeling it too. Then the second half came and we looked like the team we should have been in the first half. Football games are not played on a glowing screen with joysticks. Parity is very real. Last year's national champ had two losses and I think it's very likely the champ will not be undefeated this year...at least I haven't seen a world beater to this point. (Side note - Indiana played the LA version of Stanford yesterday and rolled them. They might be the best team so far and I can't belive I'm writing this.) I'll never understand why some fans feel the the need to act as if the world is ending after a blowout victory. It is a poor reflection on the school and those who do that look dumb. But....I guess Message Board Geniuses wouldn't exist without it.

Carry on.
Go Canes.

And y'all can "finna drag me" if ya want. Don't care cuz I'm not wrong about this.

I wouldn’t really call it uninspired yes it was slow start in terms of points but this was domination after their opening drive.

If you flip the run and say we scored 42 str8 and then they scored 7 in garbage time no one would bat an eye.

The offense wasn’t asked to go on long drives which is great because the unit needed to regain some confidence.

But there were some new wrinkles in the second half primarily with the use of RPOs which definitely opened up the pass and run game.

Indiana has a coach that would be a member of this Faction, and his naive *** has the team and fans with the most losses in history believing it too.

I wish a few more of our players and coaches had this mind set.

We are at our best when want to dominate our opponent and believe they need to be humiliated.

We should never be lining up to prove it, to "out execute", we should be talking about executions in an different light altogether.

Honestly that’s what Mario thinks he’s doing by grinding out the run game.

He wants to physically overwhelm the opponent in the trenches and when we are running the ball effectively at the end of games that’s his entire goal. That’s humiliating to him.

Not saying that’s good bad or indifferent but that’s who he is.

His intent is in the right place and it's reason for patience. Mario is impressive in a lot of areas, but intellect isn't one of them. He's a brute, and you need more than that to eviscerate.

He does seem to adapt though, if slowly. He's made progress with Dawson whispering him to a more open passing attack, and I think that was a necessary step.

Now Mario has seen all the caveman things he can do up big, but Dawson is not a killer. He's just not. Never has been.

Mario needs an OC that wants points more than ***, no matter the cost or situation. He needs someone as direct and violent as Heatherman.

That’s fair and I’m not disagreeing. Like most fans I have a hard time accepting that Dawson went from “let’s end this ************ right now” to suddenly going into a shell. Last year we set records on offense.

Whatever the actual truth is there it plays out bizarrely at times there’s no debating that much.

Even the offense last year would show signs of this, with 2nd quarter lulls standing out.

Cam was also far better at working within the confines of the good things that Shannon does give you, and Cam is a killer.

We ARE inverse Penn State. As a program

- Win big games, lose clunkers. Still not a top contender. We’re better as a program. Stuck in Mario purgatory.

- Totally blew it taking Beck over Mendoza and whiffing on top portal WR targets (bc we had no QB)

- not completely down on the rest of the year, just hostage to a really dumb head coach who thinks duo is the only running play on earth. Sigh 42-7 bro

As are you.

Have a nice day. Enjoy the victory....if you can.

I wonder what the story is there, from a roster / NIL management perspective.

I assume we would have also had to take Alberto, as Indiana effectively committed to 3 - 4 years of Mendoza at QB. Bigger domino than Beck.

Agreed. I knew Beck wasn’t Cam but I thought Beck would be better. He’s a huge disappointment to me even though I wasn’t a big fan to begin with.

That throw to Toney last night was an easy 6 and he missed him by 20 ft.

Cam set records on offense. Dawson watched it happen.

I felt like he was trying to show everyone his arm is okay and just launched it.

These comments are exactly what I'm talking about. There is a little truth, a lot of half-truths, and some flat out lies mixed in so that you can feel better about your negativity.

Have you ever met Mario and had a dialogue with him long enough to decide if intellect truly isn't one of the areas Mario is impressive in? I have not. Therefore, I'm not using his word salad, nothing burger pressers as the only source for making that determination.
Dawson is not a killer? This is the same OC who was quoted as saying "I want to win this MF thing right now" when TVD and the boys beat Texas A&M a few years back.

Happiness hurts, doesn't it?

I have a degree from Indiana too, so yes definitely a good football weekend with an average margin of victory of 40.5!

Make no mistake we also did dominate and humiliate the Tree, which was enjoyable.

This is football though, so there is a place for "The Faction's" perspective, even if to your point, fans absolutely need to be able to enjoy themselves during the process.
