The Don… updates??

Re: Penalties

The refs **** us over almost every chance they get. It's how it has been and will continue to be.

Side note: That center judge (official with the "C") was raw dogging us on Saturday along with co-conspirator, the referee. I wouldn't have minded watching either getting whacked with a few of those bottles being launched at them during the game.

BTW: What were the talking heads saying about that?

Him getting banged up threw our RB room in the uh oh territory. He was the guy that I didn't wanna get injured this year. For whatever the reason in the last 4-5 years our freshman running backs gets a serious injury that takes them out for the season. So we might be missing 3 of our backs for Virginia. Chaney got a good chance of going over 500 yards this year and thats a great comeback story
I agree I said the same thing ! Mark is a beast and he is the one guy I did not want see get hurt !! I’m praying he come back healthy cause we need him for FSU !

I swear I thought to myself on the Clemson Endzone fumble…. “Ha, ain’t no way they giving us that, we have not got a call like that all year”!!! … they gave us the fumble … then they went back to being the refs we know on that blown Safety call!!

Doubt Chaney is back this week.

Fletcher is out for a while.

Parrish is already banged up although should be a go.

We are a 17 point favorite and it’s Game 8 in a MASH unit RB room. It’s time for Chris Johnson to get some snaps in the first half with the ones. Ajay Allen earned more reps, his vision is pretty poor but he has clear talent, the jump cuts were very clean. I just think he’s a poor man’s Henry Parrish, who is a poor man’s elite RB. But CJ brings that element nobody else does.

It’s also no coincidence Brashard took snaps from the backfield on Saturday night. He was clearly RB3 with Fletcher and Parrish out. So maybe that’s the direction they continue to go, we’ll see. But we’re likely to have at least 2 of the 4 backs out again, so maybe Brashard is that next guy up but hopefully they continue to let him get some snaps while giving CJ some run as well.

Citizen???! Waiting on him to return is killing me! At some point he has to test the knee ! He is practicing right ?

Luckily we recruited Smith but not good! Thank god they have a week before we really need them but we need the big boys back. Fletcher and Chaney are our true difference makers. They are the backs that wear people down.

I'm no expert but even that stood out to me. I saw multiple plays where there were clear lanes for him to run through and he missed them. With that said, he still found a way to gain positive yards and against UVA I imagine the running lanes will be a little more obvious for him.

Yeah he's just OK. He's not a bad back, but he really doesn't do anything REALLY well. He's not exceptionally fast, he's not great in pass pro, he doesn't have great vision, and he gets a little too much forward lean when he runs which hurts his contact balance and he goes down a little too easy sometimes. But he does have good agility, he's not afraid of contact, he falls forward (back to the way he runs), and he's kept himself in good condition even though his playing time has been up and down. There is something to be said for staying ready to play, and he has done that. I just think he's an OK to slightly above average player. Like I said, poor man's Henry Parrish (Parrish is quicker, more slippery, better vision, better contact balance). IMO he's the worst of the 4 backs we have, but that's not so much a knock on him as it is a plus on our room overall. When all 4 kids are healthy, it's one of the better rooms in the country, IMO. But we really need everyone back for FSU. If Allen is getting 15 carries against FSU, I don't think that's scaring anybody on their side.

FWIW, I don't want it to seem like I'm ****ting on the kid. He got the job done against Clemson, and that was a huge win for us. I just don't think this kid is scaring anyone if you're a defensive coordinator.

Not trying to be "That guy", but how can one have poor vision and clean jump cuts? Having good vision is being able to see when the jump cut is available. Those last two runs near the goalline.... if he had poor vision, he'd have just ran to the clogged gaps (where the plays was supposed to go), for losses. With poor vision, there is no way he gets to the zone on either run.

I'm not saying he's blind. He's a capable back. I just don't think he has a great natural feel for the position.

Unless one has played RB (I have) the designated hole is not open that often. It doesn’t take a jump cut to find daylight. Stick a foot in the ground and head for the opening, if there is one.
