The Class of 2025

Love to hear it.

Had high expectations from the jump out of Lowe, Wiley, SJ, Schott, Toney, Antione, and Buchanan. Felt very confident those guys would be High Quality starters here at some point.

But Really like the potential of Nickel, Fitzgerald, Pringle, Josh Moore, Scroggins, and Donta Simpson.

I always expected Campbell, Newton, Wilkerson, Marcelin, Gilbert, Amari Wallace, and Upshaw to take like 2-3 years before I'd expected any production.

The 2025 Class was really only missing DT and another Safety. It's putting a lot of weight on the 26 class to hit a homerun at DT and Safety imo. We really should have signed at least 3 DTs... but oh well...

If Bryce Fitzgerald can be a good tackler and be our safety of the future, that is actually massive ngl. Dude is hella skilled and athletic. That's really my only hesitancy with him and why I was saying it'd be better for him to just go to offense. Well that and the portal CB haul we landed. Cause even with the tackling issue I would love him at CB. But with this portal haul the depth at WR was worse. But man if he can make it at safety, that's great for us for next year 100%
He’s smart enough to play S. The question is is he unwilling to tackle or just doesn’t know how?

I think he knows how to tackle it’s not rocket science. We just have to see if he’s as good as they say in the other areas imo. Want to see these “ballhawk” traits in games though

The answer to both of my questions is so obvious that I am still baffled at your post. All it tells me is that you have an agenda and wanted to make a point about WR and DT, and needed an excuse to make that point. But you did not evaluate how you would make that point. The result was a poorly made point.

This. Goodness ******* gracious! That dude must've been using text to speech. No way he took the time to type that out & thought there was any semblance of logic there.

Yea we need to better allocate our resources & that's all he needed to say & it could've been posted anywhere as it's own point. But agendas tend to narrow vision & cloud judgment.

So far, so good but we won’t know about his tackling until real games. It needs to be better than high school. If he can tackle enough to play safety, you are talking Kam Kinchens ball skills with 4.4 speed and superior athleticism.

Can he play CB? Neon Dieon never tackled his whole career.

I don’t mean to **** in the Kool Aid but Mario just spent a billion dollars of other people’s money completely rebuilding the secondary. If Fitzgerald sees any meaningful time this year, we should be asking why all that money was spent on people not as good as an 18 year old and why that money wasn’t better spent on an outside WR and DT

More than 2 safeties play, buddy. Miami doesn’t have depth there. They bought two starters but you still need depth. Amazing how ppl will do everything they can to find negativity and any slice of positive news.

Looks like we might have hit on some players there. I really like all three freshmen WRs, and Malachi Toney is so reliable that Beck already looks for him in tight spots. I think both TEs will get some burn this year. Kellen Wiley has a chance to play a ton by the end of the year. Donta Simpson was a find and Hayden Lowe is a five star.

Chris Ewald has a chance to play in the nickel because he’s so smart. Girard Pringle is running tough for his size and has track speed. And the most impressive player might be Bryce Fitzgerald- if he tackles at all he will be a difference maker.

This isn’t an exhaustive list, but I just wanted to highlight some recent standouts. I feel much better about this group now than I did in December.
This shouldn't be surprising. The Athletic reranks recruiting classes after 4 years. 1/2 the top 25 is usually out and there's massive movement in classes. Michigan's 2018 class was Harbaugh's lowest ranked class at 22. 4 years later it was ranked 3rd behind Georgia and Alabama. It's the Aiden Hutchison class and currently has 10 players in the NFL.

Miami is 48th in homegrown talent on its roster which is pathetic if you’re an “elite recruiter”

I don't begrudge Phil Steele for trying to find new things to poke at.

But this is really a silly metric. Yes, we've failed to get and develop the top players in south Florida. Why do we need to invent a new number that has us chasing service academies?

This is legit ****** math. Also **** Phil Steele and **** you for sucking his ****.

I don’t understand your point at all. Dmoney just gave us positive reports on freshmen players, and your take away is to be criticism of other positions?
I swear some of you just look for every possible negative, and when you can’t find a negative, you think about ways to turn positives into negatives
‘He only talked about 8 freshmen, I guess the rest are no good’
‘A freshman is playing well, and might get playing time. That must mean we wasted money in the portal on upper classmen’

Let’s explore the logic in the second statement, which is effectively what you wrote. How in the world would Mario know that a freshman, especially the ONLY freshman who did not report in the Spring, would be this good??? And considering that we are still discussing a freshman after the abortion of a season we had last year at safety, would he or any other coach with even a single brain cell, really expect to rely on a freshman???

And yeah I am picking on you and it’s well deserved, but your post is simply emblematic of too many others on CIS. Always looking for a way to pis* in the kool aid just because someone in life pis*ed in yours.

This is why I should never post after midnight. I take out an entire day of annoyance on one poster.
Coaches and GM’s get fired for drafting terribly and bad roster management. Mario doesn’t get unlimited funds. If he wasted them on portal DB’s who get beat out by freshman, yes it’s a bad look. Especially when we are thin and have very little experience at 2 of the top 3 most important positions on the field.

Guve me a break with the “Mario couldn’t know this kid would be so good” bull****. He’s not that good. The kid isn’t PS2 or Patrick Peterson. He could be one day if we’re lucky, but he ain’t that right now. If the transfers lose a spot to him, they’re not worth what they got paid

Yeah, I agree. So if we hadn’t taken Cam Ward and Carson Beck (and other players of need to improve), we’d be higher on this list. Who cares? Do what you have to do to make the best team possible, no matter where the players come from.

Clemson is so high because Dabo refuses to use the portal. Is that what we want? Doubt it.
