The biggest difference between Miami and Michigan

Oregon is 5th in yards per rush attempt. Georgia is 15th. Oregon is 1st in fewest sacks allowed. Georgia is 7th. Oregon is 2nd in fewest giveaways. Georgia is lower but still solid at 35th.

Those teams can control the ball with physicality as well as anyone. They are also extremely explosive, which makes them special. But the ability to control the game is table stakes.
Agreed. I just don’t want an offense like Michigan. It’s boring, they lack recruits because of it, and they’ll get exposed against superior teams. If they go down early, it’s hard to come back operating like that.

Now the trench play, absolutely. All day and twice on Sundays.

The perfect balance is Oregon, UGA this year - where you have a QB that can carve you up, and a physical rushing attack with a mixture of punishing RBs and explosive, lighting-in-a-bottle ones.

Even Texas has punishing RBs behind a good OL and a very star-studded DL.

Michigan would get blasted by Oregon or UGA.

Personally thought both of these teams were overrated, fringe Top 10 teams playing in a conference with a down year.

Credit to Michigan for imposing their will on the last two drives.
Down year Big Ten? Its like this every year

If Ohio and Michigan played in the SEC they lose 2 games a season minimum

Yet every season they get ranked now in the top 4

For the sake of argument, if todays game was not the last game of the seaosn or if Michigan was not lucky enough to get Iowa next week but instead had to play at Missouri, Mississippi, even LSU we'd find out if these teams are really good. There is no week in week out stress in the Big Ten for Michigan and Ohio St

Physical, ball-control football still wins the games that matter. Miami tried to establish this culture all year. Our OL is actually better than Michigan’s right now- watch how the NFL draft plays out.

Yes, Michigan is the better team overall with the better defense and deeper NFL talent. But the difference should not be as stark as it is. What’s the biggest difference between the two teams? Game management.

Michigan is 5th nationally in fewest giveaways. Miami is 107th. And despite Michigan using a dozen different head coaches, they consistently make better decisions in crucial situations. They also had a smart quarterback who was at his best when his team needed a conversion.

You can’t be a physical, grind-it-out team if you consistently fail to manage the game. The reason Miami is 7-5 is because the coaches and quarterback did not consistently manage the game all season.
Michigan can win games that way and has.

I don’t want to be Michigan. It’s boring as **** and tough to watch. I’m fine with ball control smashmouth football at times but to build an entire program around it is not something I’d want as a fan. That said I don’t want a true air raid either. I like the power spreads so many incorporate now and even the offenses Miami and SF have going in the MFl. Miami was made a national brand by putting athletes in space and scoring on offense while attacking on D and making QBs lives miserable. That’s what I want.

Stetson threw for 4000 yards and 27 td’s and added more on the ground. Beck will be close to 4000 after GT and like Stetson can run when he needs to. Thats with them sitting in fourth quarters of a lot of games. As G Danielson just said “ Bama was winning with a finesse passing game in recent years, now they’re going back to the run”. Point is there’s more than one way to win and you need to be able to do both when the competition intensifies. People think UGA is running the power I lol but they’re very balanced and creative in the pass game.

Oregon plays with tempo, uses a lot more motion, spreads teams out far more than we do.

Our fans want it done in 10 weeks
10 weeks? Mario has had 2 years and is STILL behind every coach we've ever had here (in 40+ years) after the same 2 years.

Anybody that thinks he hasn't been a MAJOR disappointment to this point isn't being real.

Doesn't mean we can't be optimistic that he'll succeed at some point but up to now he's absolutely underperformed.
