The biggest concern for this FSU game is Beck..

stats are skewed because of the two cupcakes they played ... context matters ... they caught bama with no tape ... ran it up on two pay for play games then lose to virginia giving up 200 on the ground ... cmon now
The 210yds given up to UVA on the ground spells doom for FSU unless we totally **** the bed. We should run for 350 and bleed them to death.

For a few reasons.

He puts the ball in harms way too much. Turnovers on the road get the fans going.

He is coming off back to back games throwing INT's. You could tell the coaches pulled back offense in UF game, because they were losing faith in his ability to throw ball past 10 yards.

Another reason, he has thrown INTs in over 70% of road starts in his career.

In 2023 he was 6 TDs and 3 INTs in true road games. He threw a INT in 3 of the 4 road games.

In 2024 he was 3 TDs and 7 INTs in true road games. He threw a pick in 3 of 4 true road games.

FSU is going to sell out vs. the run, and try to force Beck and passing game to beat them.

Beck and WRs will have opportunities to make plays, they need to make them.

I am not worried about Miami really in any other capacity for this game other than the QB. If he plays well and protects the football Miami will win.
Your worries are absolutely unneeded, Beck will have a huge breakout game against FSU.

I don't subscribe to the notion that they're going to sell out to stop the run. They are a base 3-3-5 with a heavy emphasis on zone. If anything, they want to bait Beck intro throwing into a 5-6 man zone.

Honestly, I think people just have PTSD and the media doesn’t wanna look stupid with a bounce back from Florida State so everybody’s predicting a close game with Miami winning but Florida State covering and I just don’t see it that way.

I think we’re gonna do things to Florida State that get you arrested

As long as it doesn't rain he will be fine. I really think that was the issue against UFag. Beck is no stranger to monster games.
NAIA ball, we're on the bus heading to a game three hours away in Wichita. Playing Friends University of Central Kansas (Do the acronym for that school) that was a pretty good team but we had their number going back 10 straight. It is a gorgeous day. My roommate was the QB. About half way there from Dodge, we're reading Kurt Vonnegut books and I ask, "how you feeling for tonight." He responds, "great." After a pause, "unless it rains."

It opened up like a Florida afternoon in August. We had three turnovers that night and lost.

I expect a healthy dose of Lofton and the RBs. UVA was crushing FSU with those shallow crossers so Toney should eat too.

Feed Lofton. Early. I don’t care if it’s three yard routes. Feed Lofton. If they sell out the run, they’ll play deep to stop big plays. Short to intermediate will be our friend. If we work Lofton, it’ll force their backers to play in no man’s land. Then start hammering the body blows.

Get Beck comfortable with easy completions. I’d build the entire passing attack around Lofton. Toney will get a ton of attention. I’d keep him and Lofton on the same side of the field all game.

Dawson has to manufacture easy completions for Beck. We don’t need to be vertical to win this game. Take the underneath stuff. Eventually it’ll open up.

Only pushback to that is Vegas doesn't take any of that bull**** into effect, and the line is -4.5

I've said it since the UiF game ended, if this game was at Hard Rock, the line would be -10 and I'd be hammering Miami. At Doak is a different animal. Not because it's some impossible place, but it's a rivalry game, at night, on the road, in a loud environment. Far better teams than Miami have lost to far worse teams than FSU in the same spot. Weird **** happens on the road in college football. Carter Davis has been nails...will he be the same in the 4th quarter (hopefully we don't need him, but...) with 60K people screaming at the top of their lungs? It's just a different environment, and often leads to the road team playing something other than their best. Would it shock me if we won by 14+ points? **** no, I think we're way better. But would it shock me if it's a dogfight? Of course not.

Someone else pointed this out earlier this week, but Miami and FSU both got good at football around 1980. There have certainly been times where one or the other was much better than the opponent, but even through all the simultaneous great, good, awful, and ups and downs of both, Miami is 11-11 at Doak since 1980.

Of those 11 wins, TWO were by 10+ points.

2001, with the greatest team of all-time, 49-27

And 2019, against Willie Taggart, the week before he was fired, 27-10.

That's it. We've beaten them twice at Doak by 10+ since before I was born, and I'm an old ****.

I'm not understanding the fear y'all have. FSU literally has no answer for our OL or DL.

I haven't been this sure we were gonna beat them since 2020.

Rivalry games are unpredictable man.

Anything can happen and nothing would shock me. No one really knows how it's going to go.

I expect a pretty close game personally but hope i'm wrong

They’re going to play zone, just take what the defense is giving you and don’t go van dyke or play hero ball. Going to be throwing to the slot and te’s a lot.

Honestly I hope we don’t force the passing game we can just gouge them on the ground like last year. I think their dline is significantly worse than last year too.

Losing faith in him huh... I know that feeling
