The biggest concern for this FSU game is Beck..

I agree but will add that the mitigation of this scenario is a good run game and defense, because it usually travels well. I don’t think Beck will get caught up in the road environment stuff. I’m more worried about the communication on defense and weathering momentum shifts. We have to get ball carriers to the ground and we can’t give up chunk plays. We do that, we win by 2 TDs imo
I responded to his post with the same thing almost word for word but didn’t post it because I’m like whelp he already knows that

But since you said it as well figured yeah. Running the ball and defense travel. Last time we were a favorite there on the road was TVD and he had the worst first half a human being could possibly have and we still should have won the game. (I think we were favored?)

We just seem more fundamentally and foundationally strong this year which gives me confidence with these ACC road games ahead of us

the throw to brown that was a huge catch and run was an absolutely awful throw for a simple check down pass. you could tell he had no confidence at that point

The one to Lofton over the middle on 3rd down...yikes.

Was like a 10 yard throw and he hit him in the shoes. Not even close. We got so lucky Lofton made that catch. And yes for sure the Brown throw.

We are built like a pro team. It drives the casuals crazy because it’s not the preferred style, but it’s easy to see the way this blue print is sustainable. I’m most worried about their offense breaking contain and getting big plays. I don’t think they will stop us from running the ball and I don’t think they will get much pressure on Beck. We have to stop them from 20+ yard plays and be efficient in the red zone. It’s really that simple to me

We were favored in 2021 by about a field goal.

Difference in that game was, we ran the ball for 43 yards. We got down early and just abandoned it, I think we had some backs hurt too because Knighton is the only kid who ran the ball. But yes, I think TVD turned the ball over 3 times in the first **** quarter. Couldn't run it for ****, QB turning it over left and right, and still took a 4th and 14 for them to beat us.

I don't think aliens raining into Doak would shock me any more than us running for 43 yards, but we'll see. I'm confident this game isn't going to be totally on Beck.

The X factor is who will bring the intensity and focus. If we play our game , we win by a lot. Cristobal seems like he has our guys locked in.

Reality is the season depends entirely on this game. It’s not just a regular fsu UM matchup. This is the season. GT is very likely in the ACC championship. We are all competing for one remaining spot. If we lose, fsu likely plays GT. A one loss ACC team that doesn’t play in the ACC championship game has an almost zero chance of getting into the playoffs.

for the warts of Mario, he gets his team up for big games.

Carson Beck has played in big games like this before. In bigger stadiums. I’m not worried about him. We need to keep Castellanos from going around us. Lock him in and he will have to throw it up for grabs.

For a few reasons.

He puts the ball in harms way too much. Turnovers on the road get the fans going.

He is coming off back to back games throwing INT's. You could tell the coaches pulled back offense in UF game, because they were losing faith in his ability to throw ball past 10 yards.

Another reason, he has thrown INTs in over 70% of road starts in his career.

In 2023 he was 6 TDs and 3 INTs in true road games. He threw a INT in 3 of the 4 road games.

In 2024 he was 3 TDs and 7 INTs in true road games. He threw a pick in 3 of 4 true road games.

FSU is going to sell out vs. the run, and try to force Beck and passing game to beat them.

Beck and WRs will have opportunities to make plays, they need to make them.

I am not worried about Miami really in any other capacity for this game other than the QB. If he plays well and protects the football Miami will win.

If they sell out the run their defense isn’t going to get to Beck without blitzing. Our OL is superior and can handle a blitzer as well. This leaves Beck with a clean pocket and thin back 7. He excels in picking apart from a clean pocket.

If they don’t sell out on the run, we’ll run all day.

Unless Beck becomes possessed by Rix or somehow FSU can defend the run in 335 we hold the cards.

No guarantees but we excel against their weaknesses.

I’m not worried about Beck in the least lol. He will be just fine. The rain affected him a lot in the UF game. Beck doesn’t have large hands. So throwing a wet ball will cause issues for him.

Both of his INT’s (I’m not counting the tipped ball), came when he was moving up and being pressured. And in both cases, he was off target when on the move. I think the adjustment for Beck is to either run, throw it away, or even take the sack.

Beck has to remember this is not UGA or UM 2024. He does not have to be a hero. Take the safe throws, and then go over the top when we have 1-on-1 on the outside like the passes to Moore and Marion (PI against ND). He doesn’t need the 20 yard throw over the middle into coverage.

Saban said this is how you attack Beck. Move him off his spot. FSU will blitz. Beck is a liability until proven otherwise.

I think there's a balance. the conservative game plan nearly cost us a win against ND when beck was rolling and we couldn't really move the ball on the ground in the second half.

against UF, the pass game nearly cost us the game when they couldn't stop the run at all.

my point: it comes down to which beck we get
I agree, I think you have to adjust to the flow of the game.

The UF secondary was really good in coverage downfield. We had guys open underneath a lot, even in the first half, so you would've thought we'd see more of that, if Dawson was going to let Beck keep dropping back. I mean I saw a few WR screens, but I also saw UF adjust to that. I mean UF, in coverage was a problem. However, Beck also threw some.bad throws to open guys.

And yes, definitely, we did get too conservative against ND. But to their defense it was game one and we pulled it out.

we did pull it out but next time we wont be so lucky where we played for a game winning 45+ yard field goal with over a min on the clock. thankfully the D ended the game but we left way too much time for that

And to be honest the defense got too conservative also, allowing for ND to score as much as they did in the 4th.

The Miami wr's will have to win some one on one battles this game plain and simple. they couldn't do **** against uf. Thats what I would do if i was fsu. Miami doesn't re have a game breaker at wr. moore has emerge this game

My biggest concern for the game is the center number 52 false starting for the 100th time and the play clock being ran down to one or two seconds before the snap
