"The Bear" speaks up today

It 100% worked hence why a phone call was made. “Hey we are aware of the issues, call off the dogs though”.
Yea, I'm just not sure Bear called off the dogs really. He just shifted blame from Manny to the AD. Which makes sense, Manny has good relationships with the ESPN folks. They don't give a **** about Blake. Manny and Blake are both going to be battling with this sinking ship not to be the guy who actually catches the fault.

Plus that really did not beat us. If Ivey doesn't fall asleep and play the receiver it likely fails and if Baxa could hit a FG we still win that game.

I don't ever want to think about that game again but yeah there was about 17 different ways we lost that game and if only 16 of them go wrong instead of all 17, we win.

But, and this might be news to the board, there is quite the difference between "they scored on a fake punt" and "they beat us with a punter playing QB". Those things aren't quite the same.

Manny could have bama's roster and still get beat. Coaching gets you over the hump because talent is going to do it alone. He's so over his head here. How about developing the guys Manny? And maybe not showing your three man blitz from the weak side 20 seconds before the ball is snapped.....anywho what do i know.
Coker won with a elite roster chill. Rosters that are powerful are the best teams in cfb. When u stack at every spot u will be one of those elite teams.

I honestly believe someone high in the Board went to Kirk and asked him to address this in the manner that he did.

Kirk has supported Miami for years now, he absolutely loves it when they are doing well. Makes too much sense to not ask him.
the crazy issue is the national media is pulling for Miami to be relevant .... Kinda like #3 dale Earnhard of Nascar fame.
team everyone loves to hate...... Kirk, Collin Cowheard Miami means ratings..... not sure BOT/AD dept get that period

I agree with that to a point. You still have to put them in positions to succeed and develop them. It would help for sure to have more talent but my biggest issue is player development. hope for the best.

Sheesh.. I’d hate to be manny. Cause no he's not the root of this evil but he’ll be forever affected by his decision not to stick it out with temple. I’m not caping for him but it’s a cold feeling when you know exactly where you went wrong and I know manny knows UM was ****ed up. But in his shoes what would you do? Say no to your dream?

Exactly!!! Go look at the number of frost round draft picks between 2000-2008 & compare to the last 13 years.

I wouldn't doubt he has a few board members who think he's great. And it's not impossible that Frenk likes him because he doesn't have to deal with anything athletics related.
Actually, I want to expand on this. Most every bad manager I've ever seen has a benefactor watching over them. It's usually someone higher up and it's common that they'll take some task the upper manager dislikes or perhaps run interference from other department's criticism or something similar. It's rarely just simple *** kissing. Blake is doing something that makes Frenk's and/or the BOT's life easier. When the value of whatever he's doing is less than the value of bad publicity or public pressure, that's when we'll see a change. Until then, he can replace just about any coach or make some minor change and deflect any criticism.

So they are beating the "ACC is wide open and we are 0-0" drum I see.

Fine OK. I can live with that, and if by some miracle that happens (I do not believe it will) then good. Well done Manny and Blake and company. You survive another year.

But by god as soon as we start losing to the UVA UNC NC St's of the world . IT IS FINISHED. They have nothing else to hold on to.

Have a great Day
the only team we face with a HC worse than CMD is Norvell at FSU and that's a toss up
we go 4-4 all games competitive till 4Q....

I think people are discounting the wake up call that segment was for a lot of the more casual fans that care but don't live on places like this. My parents have had tickets for 35-40 years. Not Golden Canes by a far stretch, but have good seats and give a decent amount. They have kept tickets through Shannon, Golden, etc., and continued to travel to road games throughout.

My mom called me yesterday about that segment and pretty much said if the school doesn't care, why should they get my money for a Hurricane Club donation, when I can go on stubhub, get tickets to any game I want for below face, not have to buy tickets to see Central Conn, and save a lot of money in the process. And I said you are absolutely correct. I think that segment really put it out there for those sorts of fans. My parents listen to my complaining, they know the team is poorly coached, but when you hear it like that, sometimes it resonates a bit more.

correct and what you illustrate is a poorly run company & further magnifies the issues at Hecht and school Presidency
man what i would give to find another Sam Jankovic ........

Interesting that he talks about the last two recruiting classes as if he didn't have a hand in the deficient defensive recruiting for the few years before then. This line is classically used by coaches who are on the hot seat. " We just need a few years more of stellar recruiting."

And it's a weak manager. That's why they'll never hire someone to address their weaknesses because they perceive them as a threat. Hence, no Alonzo.

100% correct, exited Corp. America 10+ years ago just for that reason.....

I really appreciate that the Bear called out more than just football, which evidences the problem goes beyond just the team and coach, but to the AD (and the BoT who hired him and continues to keep him around).

The last three seasons of UM baseball have been abysmal. Two of those seasons we finished unranked and didn't qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

Basketball has also been abysmal the last 3 seasons, with three consecutive losing seasons. The team is 67-80 in conference play with only 3 tournament appearances (and 2 of them were first round exits) in the 8 seasons since Blake took over.

And, of course, the football team is 65-41 since Blake got the job (about a 63% win percentage), with 1 sorry bowl victory, and all of 3 seasons finishing in the top 25 (in 8 completed seasons).

It's an embarrassing resume for an AD.

LOL it was a fake punt. You don't know the difference between a fake punt and losing a game with their punter playing QB? He didn't play QB, actually. He played punter. He just happened to throw the ball from a punt formation.
Oh lord.. no ****.. Alright manny.. Like anybody couldnt see that.. Sounds just like his answers at presser..
