Can’t replace #0. If he tests well, I could see him sneaking into the top 2-3 rounds of the draft

If Thornton can fill some of the Jacobe role, with Bryce and Poyser getting another year of development, plus everyone coming back at corner; this should still be one of the best secondaries in the country

Not to mention the freshman class coming in

Can't believe we're putting it in the hands of the NCAA to grant Toure a waiver for 2019 to allow a RS before the 4 game rule became a thing. They've proven they don't do that unless there was an injury with plenty of supporting evidence of that injury. I haven't seen a word about him sustaining anything that year either.

I'm fairly certain he'll receive money we're not ready to spend at that position. I could make the same argument for our D-Line and why we're chasing Wilson.

If the 6.5 mil QB doesn't land which is likely to happen...if necessary, it would be wise to overpay both imo ...Miami is run first on O solidifying the D would keep the team near the top regardless....

Toure getting another year? Would be big to keep his leadership and veteran play

Popo looks to be developing nicely under Hetherman and can fill Wes’s role next year

Bonner and Wiley hopefully developing to be the next 2

Getting Moten to come back at DT would be huge too. First round talent.

- The key name to know on defense is Missouri DE Damon Wilson. The former five star from Venice, Florida is the best defensive player in the Portal, and Miami is zeroing in on him. They are looking for bigger defensive ends to replace Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor.

- The Canes are also looking for a young defensive tackle to replace Donta Simpson. One name to keep an eye on: Ohio State transfer Jarquez Carter. He is a former teammate of Miami freshman DT Mykah Newton. The pair is from Newberry, Florida. Ahmad Moten, Justin Scott an Armondo Blount are expected to return and anchor our defense.

- Linebacker received a big boost with the expected return of Mo Toure, who is playing his best football in the playoffs. He continues to get healthier and faster. They are continuing to look for linebackers, but my sense is that they will look to their existing roster for most of the production. Don't sleep on Kamal Bonner, who fell behind due to injury but has been coming on in practice.

- Boston College transfer Omar Thornton is committed and will play both nickel and safety. We are not pursuing Koi Perich and I don't expect further action at safety. We are evaluating corners, as we have four starting caliber veterans and it is unclear how that will play out after the championship.

- I like Miami for Kicker Jack Olsen. He is highly accurate from within 50 yards. I expect Miami to pursue a kickoff and long FG specialist. Keep an eye on FSU kicker Jake Weinberg.

@DMoney is there a sense that any specific one of the corners might leave? Really hope atleast 3 of them return. As others have said all of them play a bunch or like weve seen now, injuries can happen...

Considering the rule to allow playing in 4 games changed in 2018 I don’t think it will be an issue. Hes a RS Junior right now. No waiver needed. He redshirted in 2019, Covid year 2020. Played in 21, 23, 25. Missed 22 and 24 with injuries.

I thought the same thing trying to read between the lines:

- O’Connor
- Brown
- Lucas
- Frédérique

If those are the 4 we would be discussing, my $$$ would be on Brown.

I really hope we keep them all but I am also glad to see Antoine stepping up big time in this last game. People forget he was the #1 CB coming out of Louisiana last year.

This is where roster management and money management plays a role. As much as we see other teams adding, those moves are not guaranteed success. Also keep in mind, every year with success at certain positions, the money will go up for those positions. This is where Mario is making his money with the high school recruiting and hitting on those.
