The Bank (6/16)

Yea I hate, cause Beard has been a good on field coach. But he’s left quite a bit to be desired in recruiting. I wouldn’t call him dead weight but there’s just too many misses on blue chippers.
Or are we underperforming at critical times and falling short during the season? Leaving some in the community still questioning have we really turned the corner. Giving them a reason to leave or the parents a reason to listen. To used car salesman pitches from the other conferences.

Interior DL has been a pretty consistent concern minus the 2024 class. Last year's class was extremely underwhelming with Simpson really being the only interior guy we took last year.

We're starting to get a clearer picture of what the class may look like this year and it does not look good in terms of big bodies.

Simpson - 280 lbs (2025 class)
Bacon - 263 lbs (2026 commit)
Lamar Brown - 285 lbs
James Johnson - 285 lbs
Stancil - 270 lbs

You can't go two years in a row without getting a 300+ lb kid on the interior. That just seems like gross mismanagement and will result in needing to spend big money (and/or reach) in the portal to fill a high priority position.

What's the approach here? Is there a big body they're going to go all in?
Floyd Boucard was an option. He had that 330+ potential. According to many he wasn’t a take for us.

I have no doubt we’ll pull off a 300+ score this year in recruiting. That’s how good we’re recruiting right now and you’ll see soon, if you haven’t already realized.
I hope you right. Right now I see a top 5 class with around 290.

That’s fair. But it’s not like we are losing recruits portal or HS to the defending champ every year. Again I think Beard is signing good classes. And he’s developed well.

I think the issue that arises is we are coming off our best offensive year ever. We may not think so as fans, but last season was one of our best seasons in 20 years. Now would be the time to capitalize on it. Beard will probably sign 4-5 Top 250 players. Which is great and all, but as Mario has shown isn’t enough for him recruiting wise.

What else do U think he can do? He has developed the guys. So what more do they want to see? Before they start choosing us?

We haven't a WR drafted before Day3 since Dorsett. It's not a narritive.
I’m not saying we’ve had good receivers. The “narrative” is true.

I’m just saying Restrepo being an AA and getting drafted in the second or third round (pre-40 time grade) would have been a nice way to turn that narrative around.

You’re talking about “A” WR….the notion was great WR’s were all over the place…
where you think our best wr was from last year on the #1 offense?.

3 of the the top 10 wrs in the ncaa last year were from s.fla.......And Restrepo was #13. smh

Jacorey Brooks and Oronde Gadsen also in the top 40 man this aint gonna go your way with me.

If he wouldn’t have turned around during the 40, we’d be on the way to ending that said narrative.

He would have been drafted w/out having that 40 time, but never in the 2nd or 3rd rd.

I think Miami gets to a top-five class ranking over the next two weeks and then closes on a few blue chip prospects at signing day to hit the mythical 300 class rating and clinch a top-three finish.
