Exactly. Some of our fans are truly clueless. I attended probably 35 of the 58 straight home wins so I'm hardly a new age fan and I'm thrilled with this hire. Btw butch had a lot of game day coaching issues.

People don't seem to understand that we have not had a good team in ten years. You do not magically go from a bad team to a national championship team, it is just not realistic. I think Richt is a slam dunk hire, and if anyone is poised to bring us a national championship, he clearly has the best shot, though it is lunacy to expect a national championship until we build the base for this team.

Also, the people saying we should have stretched for a 'great' coach do not realize that they don't want to come here. We first have to build the base back to where it was before we can go out and hire someone like chip kelly.

I agree with you most of the time, but not here. This is fantastic for Miami. We're instantly relevant again. Expectations are going to be high and kids are going to be excited about the potentjal here. This is bigger than McElwain to Florida, Fuente to VT, Proabably even Smart to Georgia.

There is absolutely no reason to be upset about this.

Miami hired its own OC as head coach in 2001. We hired our own DC as head coach in 2007. We hired the TEMPLE coach in 2011. And some of you want to get mad about hiring a 145-53 record SEC coach now? That's crazy.

Richt was the best hire we could've possibly made. He may not work out in the end, but on paper, we couldn't have done any better.
 
Miami was under probation and UNC's program is not better than the current rich SEC.

Butch Davis was not average. At Miami, the 3 assistants he hired and developed became future NFL head coaches (Chud, Pagano, Schiano), and 2 became College Head Coaches (Shannon, Coker). He recruited and developed the greatest team of all time that was loaded with record 1st round NFL draft picks. If there is even a shot at him doing this again, why the **** wouldn't people be in on it.

If the hiring was based on age, then so be it. But at 64, he still has a few good years left and his experience is at peak level.

Richt is the safe hire. Conservative. Typical U part 3 hire. Every year Georgia has disappointed in the weak SEC East but won just enough so that he could keep his job.

Name another coach other than Saban or Meyer to average 9-10 wins a year over the last 15 years? I don't think you'll find one.

I feel ya' bro, I went to my 1st game in the OB in Nov. 1965 and have bled orange and green ever since. (UM vs. the turds; QB'd by Spurrier, we won) I have seen a shytload of coaches come and go, some great and some really bad. I love Butch but this is a really great hire.

Richt > Schiano. And it's not even close.

This is the best hire since Butch in 1995.

Some fans wanted a 'savage' who wins big with no talent, just a magic potion of Xs and Os. Unfortunately scarcity prevented such a hire. Richt doesn't have NC ring collection Saban or Meyer have; sadly neither coach is available for hire. Chip Kelly, Gary Patterson, and Mike Gundy are unavailable.

Get over it.

I like you Archer, and I think Butch is a solid choice, but I just can't hate on this hire. I am genuinely excited.
