That was Miami style defense.

I don't get why the bashers are so defensive right now lol

1) The defense played extremely well...when considering competition of course

2) Better competition is coming down the road, so you all will have your day in the sun should the defense fold

3) History says that we will struggle against stiffer comp.

When considering those things, why can't people enjoy a solid performance, when the bad performances haven't even happened yet?

I agree with jersey on all three bullets.

1) The defense is probably still a mess but it's hard to tell against the **** show we were playing.

2) The D will get their **** pushed waaaay in the next few weeks.

3) Any team with a pulse will run a train on us.

Having said that, how could anyone enjoy this win?

It's not that they won. That was guaranteed. It's how they played. Dudes were flying to the ball and impacting the ball when it arrived or when the ball carrier hit the hole. We weren't dragging guys down from behind and going on piggy back rides. They were actually dictating.

I wonder what is the combined IQ of these Golden Girls.

Every year it's the same. These guys have absolutely no foresight, reasoning, or logic to their optimism. Critical thinking is definitely not their strong suit.

Jerzey has the intelligence of a doorknob.

It's freaking Bethune Cookman. Most people in Florida, let alone in the US, have no idea what Bethune Cookman even is.

they aren't even smarter than Pavlov's dog. These guys make the SAME posts every year and they're always wrong. Jerzey made a post with the same exact substance last year after we beat UNC.

Reminds me of the stretch last year where everyone kept saying "Golden let the dogs loose!" and "the old Miami is back!"

Same group of Goldenettes porsting in this thread.
Colossally stupid bunch of f@qgits. Never ceases to amaze me how desperate these suckers are to grasp onto anything. Now they're acting you can actually glean anything at all from playing one of the worst football teams I've ever seen.

Because no actual Miami fan gives a **** about beating Bethune Cookman.

Pathetic f@qgit looking to bask in the glorious afterglow of hammering BCC. Sad worm.

Jerzey clarified that he wasn't actually talking about tonight's performance though. Maybe the Goldenettes are privy to some secret games the 'canes play where UM trashes elite teams. Maybe jerzey isn't even talking about the BCC game and we're all just confused. UM actually played an elite squad tonight and did work but only the Golden Girls got to watch it.

Jersey is the same sorry fckboy who trots out this "Don't look now, but Golden is turning the corner" **** every time we win a game.

A few things to consider.

1. USF beat FAMU 51-3 and gave up 182 yards. Cincinnati beat Alabama A&M 52-10 and gave up 246 yards. Other teams beat the **** out of FCS teams in the same conference as BCU. On that note, giving up 79 yards is difficult even if it was the Seahawks against The Sisters of the Blind. BCU's QB's couldn't throw at all but 79 yards is still 79 yards and should be commended.

2. There was a mix of the 2-gap nonsense and our attacking good stuff. I saw some DT's in coverage and some frog stances but they were much rarer than the typical Golden game. We saw it in the later portion of the game when the it was in hand but it was still there. We've seen it before when we've had an enormous advantage over the team we're playing but it still made an appearance. Will it continue? History says no but who knows? Your job being on the line can cause a change.

3. For the celebrating about the defense's performance against weak competition, the offense deserves harsh criticism for struggling mightily against a weak team. It took an explosion after the lightning delay and some quick hits to really break out when we couldn't move it down the field.

On the whole, today doesn't change my 7-5 prediction for the season and I doubt it changes many other people's predictions. This follows a much seen pattern but the team went out and did what is supposed to do well. FAU will follow a similar pattern but against a better caliber athlete who scored 44 points today and gave up 47.

Good points..

I think we beat FAU by at least 24.. I watched their game.. Walton is going to run for at least 125 and Gray might give us one of those 80 yd one cut stick your foot in the ground and go.

Like I said before the game, dominating Bethune means nothing. Struggling with them means a lot. We dominated them. At least we know that we're not trash against a bad team, but it doesn't mean squat for the rest of the season. I was encouraged by the D, and a little disappointed by the O. I do think the O will come around a bit, but I have real doubts about Coley's ability to call a complete game. The D looked like a real D for the first time in ages. Solid performance. 2-3 years ago we give up 300+ yards to a garbage opponent. Now, let's see what happens the next few weeks.

We have to lean on the RUN GAME to open us the pass. Lean on the run game early and just hope that we can find some semblance of a vertical game.

Thanks.

I think we probably win by that much too but for me to be comfortable going forward I think they need to win by 35. It needs to be a 49-14 game at the very least for me to think the team can actually compete at a conference competitive level.
