Texas A&M is not a must win

the other thing is the country expects us to win now. they've seen ATM get exposed. you lose and youre just another acc team that got exposed by an average at best sec team
Exactly. And if we get beat down and UF goes into Kyle Field and wins, we look very bad. IMO the perception that we are ahead of the other two in state rivals, is the most important thing this year.

There is a difference between must win and important game. Of course this is not a must win, it is not an ACC game and doesn't decide if we win the Coastal or not.

With that said this is a very important game for recruiting purposes and national recognition.

I hear your argument all great points...but doesn't Miami need a signature win on the road to give us confidence and momentum going forward? For the players, fanbase, recruits. We need to put asses in the stands, not gonna do that by squeaking by mid ACC teams. If not Saturday, then when? Clemson? IDK fellas, the more I watch ATM, the more I think we Phuccin roll these clowns.

We need to win our division and beat FSU.

This signature win argument is overblown. It's not a signature win in my eyes. It's just another game. Would yall rather be us last season that beat Pitt and NC St or would u rather be Pitt that won 11 games and the ACC and lost to us? Winning games consistently is more important than winning or losing any one game. If yall can't get that logic, can't help you. Especially when it has no conference implication. And in case yall ain't notice, the SEC on a whole ain't all that this year outside of 2 teams

Please get this nonsense out of our space. It's doing my head in. Texas A&M has never won **** and they just lost to App St last week. I don't care if they come in mad. It's about execution. We have been starved of success so long where we are hyping middling programs up to be juggernauts or more than they are.

Florida beat Utah week 1, celebrated their championship and Heisman, only to turn a week later and lose to Kentucky with their players waving UF fans out the stadium.

FSU beat LSU in week 1, LSU won a title 3 years ago and have more rated players than FSU. Was that a must win, was it a big game, are we fearing FSU now?

We want to win the game, no doubt, not saying losing is ok. But what I want to see is consistency all through the season. Not beat Texas A&M and then turn up 3 weeks later off a bye and lose to UNC at home because we were high off hyping up Texas A&M to be superbowl level. These games are routine out of conference game, we go in their execute, get the *** outa that cow pasture and start preparing for Middle Tennessee at 3-0 nothing more, nothing less.
Nah Man....Just what it would do for recruiting makes it a must. We win this game and recruiting will go off the charts. F around and lose, with our Off being anemic...and our Defense looking so-so would be a problem.

Facts. We absolutely do not need to win this game. If there is a must win game this season, it's probably Pitt. We need to win the Coastal to move the program forward. Outside of that, everything else is gravy.
You say that...but F around and get soundly beaten by A&M, and things will be hairy. Pitt??....We beat them last yr and they STILL Won the ACC...Pitt isn't the problem...I have wayyyy more confidence beating them than A&M. Our 3 biggest games left are A&M...Clemson and FSU. (FSU because they're a rivalry)

It's still not a must win. Because that talking point only persist if you lose to crap ACC teams. Bama lost to Texas A&M in the same environment, they were coming off back to back losses. I want to win this game. It is the next game, it boost recruiting. I'm still not hyping it up. It's just a game against a good talent average team. When we treat these teams like another team, we stay level headed and are ready the next week, and the next week until we are robotic and handling business weekly. Not getting drunk on sugar highs 1 week results like UF.

We have lost to crap ACC teams...Trust me, F around and lose this game...ESPECIALLY if we look like crap losing...and it will hurt tremendously. What @hoops156 said is 100% correct in my opinion.

All I can say is reading some posts here it is certain that some of you have never ever experienced watching a kick *** Miami team in person. This game is way more than an important game but a must win. Having the X man out could work in our advantage if certain players step up and the team plays flawless. A loss here sets the program back and a blow out and say goodbye to getting in the top 25 for a while. I think we win.

I want to agree and I agree with most of your takes on here, but with them losing to App State last week this became a game where we have nothing to gain and everything to lose. Jimbo pretty much screwed us by them now being the lower ranked team.
If we lose and then win all our games til Clemson, we’ll be ok. No one expected a playoff appearance this year. Just look to our future.

I will say that losing big might set us back awhile for recruits.

a loss here cements what we are even under a new staff (albeit early). we've flopped on the big stage under coach after coach. even if we get absolutely lucky, winning against a SEC name on the road will do wonders in terms of the teams confidence and recruiting. you win this, youre set up. you lose this, we've seen past miami seasons fall off the cliff

As many have said, from a national perception we absolutely need to look like we belong. Must win? No but we need to show progress. We were blown out by Bama and Clemp$on and can not let that happen Sat. I honestly don’t believe we get blown out and have a good chance at the W.

Maybe not, but it’s definitely a should win based on the anemic offense I saw them field.

That QB is horrible.
unfortunately the best cure for a struggline qb over the last couple years has been to face a miami defense on a big stage
hopefully the narrative finally changes

Cement what we are after 3 games? Please say **** that make sense bro. Losing to Bama cemented what we were under Diaz because it was his 3rd season and 6th overall. If we lose to Texas A&M our job is to show up and smash Middle Tennessee and start ACC play with a win off the by week against UNC, leaving us 4-1 with every single objective in front of us. Yall piling other people and other Cane teams results into this season is what I'm not having. Beating A&M doesn't mean we are back or even an elite team, losing to them will not derail our season period end of. So how exactly is that a must win game? Not sure if you know but we got 9 games to play after this 1.
