Targets Commitment Dates

I agree, Top 10 is a realistic goal.

I’ve expected a Top 15 class. With the Rashada commitment and the increase to counters I’m getting optimistic, so I’m feeling 13-15 now.

But top 10 is a more realistic expectation for a “goal” in year one in my opinion. Mario is a hustler, so I have no doubt the classes will improve each year and Top 5 will eventually be the expectation. But until we get there, I’m comfy where my heads at tbh.
100 percent, top 10 is also contingent on a 9-3 season or better; I personally think we go 9-3, but if for some reason we end 8-4, then 13-15 is certainly realistic. Even a 9-3 could see us in the 10-12 range.

I think we finish 5-8. But I’m more concerned with us getting the kids we like and who else offered them then where a former funeral home director has our kids ranked.
I did a mock class and most of the kids i feel strongly about, i think we just miss the top 4. Im seeing somewhere between 4-7. Especially based on how things break from now till the 9th.

Manny got the #11 class his last year, you’re telling me Mario can’t recruit better than Manny?

Top 10 should be the bare minimum, but top 5 should be expected

Bro manny did not get a top 11 class last year - in fact some of our biggest recruits weren’t coming here if his lispy a$$ isn’t fired.

Calculate the class without Wes, Kelly, Moss, Skinner, and Citizen. I guarantee you it’s outside the Top 20.

Hit me up with whatever you’re cheefin’ on.

Manny got #11 in 2021 thanks to COVID where recruits couldn't OV anywhere, the year before he got fired. Wes, Kelly, Moss, etc was class of 2022.

Exactly. He hit the jackpot with Covid. The 2022 class would have been 20-30 at best. He was striking out left and right on targets, especially defense. And once Lashlee bailed, game over.

... Anyway, back to Top 10 vs Top 5. Mario will get a Top 10 class. Bank it. But Top 5 is extremely hard.

Bama, Georgia and OSU have more budget and significantly more demonstrated production than Miami and Mario. They'll be in the Top 5. So you have Miami, A&M, Texas, Tenn, USC, LSU all throwing around a lot of money to grab one of those final 2 spots. Clemson, Oklahoma, Oregon, Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame may not sling as much money for recruits (at least not as publicly), but they're players, too.

@Cribby says we're spending 6-10, and hopefully we land a couple spots above our budget rank because of how great our staff is at recruiting. But 1-5 without any conference or playoff wins? I doubt it. JMHO. My best guess is 7-8.

Wins & loses will determine a lot I think. Top 12-15 regardless.

Our ranking probably depends on how much kids we actually take this year

According to 247:
2020 finished with the #11 ranked class
2021 finished with the #11 ranked class
2022 finished with the #13 ranked class (Mario's group)

I expect a Top 10 class in 2023. Anything less would be a disappointment

Could've sworn our 2020 class was roughly 16th & 2022 was about 15th, but maybe it jumped to 13 with Colbie Young added to the mix. 7-12 should be where Mario lives in recruiting ranking while here.

I expect top 5 regularly once he gets things going. I mean why not? We're gonna be top 5 in resources. Top talent in the country in our backyard. Once we start winning the ACC we'll be a perennial playoff team. No reason not to be top 5.

Every year there will be a Texas/A&M type that comes out of nowhere. And then there's Bama, UGA, OSU. But those are the only teams that I'd currently "concede" to having better classes than us consistently.
