TAMU Notes: Defense heading into Week 1

Yeah and I’m guilty of offering a different perspective more than I should on Cis I can admit that I just thought it would be refreshing to those who didn’t know about teams as much As I and others do. I’ll double down. Miami can win and if we don’t it’ll probably be because we shot ourselves in the foot. Miami is like a 8 point underdog. I would set it at -3.5 in A&Ms favor. There’s a lot of talent on that team and it’s their first big night game of the year at home. We haven’t been in that atmosphere in a while
Not to mention, Texas A&m is tough at home. Last season they would not have beat Bama at a neutral sight or in Bama. I think all of there losses came on the road.

I like Steed (and to a lesser degree Flagg) but they are going to have to hold on to those spots for dear life even if they get the nod for TAMU. Caleb Johnson, Chase Smith and Keontra Smith are comin'.

For about 30 plays, we had some of the best game planning I'd seen in some time. The Walford play was a thing of beauty. We ran out of bullets.

Jimbo's FSU staff was usually solid with second half adjustments. That, or they had someone video taping our practices, because once they adjusted, we'd get locked up. Hopefully, MC has the practice areas scanned for bugs.
LOL . . . seriously, he does to a level I've never seen before. I lifted the other day and hopped over trying to sneak a few minutes. I pretended I was going for a "casual stroll" through the parking garage. There was a ton of personnel throughout the garage. And this one lady on the field had eyes on me like I was Al Qaeda in American Sniper. Jesus Christ she was intense. I felt like a criminal. Everyone was on to me. I felt so icky I don't think I'm even going to try that again.

Nevertheless, the attention also brought immense laughter because I am not an xs and os guy. I got a chuckle out of the idea that if only they knew I could watch practice and have as much information as the janitor in Billy Madison they wouldn't care. "Ms. Lippy drives a green car." "Number 97is big."

Yeah. That’s a sneaky tough place to play. That’s where our staff is a great weapon. They’ve been there done that. Keep the kids grounded. No way we survive that atmosphere with manny

A game like this, with Manny at the helm, we would always see a bunch of self inflicted flags and mistakes that always killed our momentum early. I'm looking forward to no longer seeing that crap.

I think another big thing you’ll see change is that we’re gonna be the team to punch first now. Idk if we’ll be able to maintain the aggression but Mario prefers to come out swinging

So we won’t go down 3 touchdowns right away against Virginia tech at home circa 2019?

Would be interesting to see a behind-the-scenes with the work the sports psychologists and Feld are doing. Think mental piece gets undersold by a lot of people

You’re the first poster I’ve seen mention that aspect! It’s a real thing! Kinda similar subject framber valdez the pitcher for the Astros looks like a ace after seeing a sports psychologist and getting the mental aspect down. He was almost unplayable beforehand. It’s a big thing

I loveeeeee app state. But if you asking for percentages. 35% maybe
:unsure:Might be enough to throw some money at. I just know they always seem to be surprisingly good... They got that Clemson transfer, Brice, at QB now. I don't really know A&M's DB or the WR situation at App State so I can't say who's winning that battle

I think it bodes well if App State plays them hard/exposes certain weaknesses and UM is able to go in there and capitalize

They won’t be able to hang in the trenches but app has the team to test A&M down the field and keep them from pinning their ears back

Definitely a real thing. Saban has talked about it for years. Also when my first born was touring colleges during high school we were staying at the same hotel of a guy that Kirby Smart was using. We had a really in depth conversation about what he was doing with the uga team. My son is now a college senior so this had to be around 2018 at the latest.

How do you define "come out swinging"? If you look at the OSU game last year, Oregon started the game off slow and steady - not super aggressive but you can tell their offensive plays were a nice mix of runs and safe throws (misdirection/RPOs/etc). Would be interesting to see how he starts off.
