TAMU Notes: Defense heading into Week 1

How do you define "come out swinging"? If you look at the OSU game last year, Oregon started the game off slow and steady - not super aggressive but you can tell their offensive plays were a nice mix of runs and safe throws (misdirection/RPOs/etc). Would be interesting to see how he starts off.
Well if you ask me some of those he plays he ran were some of his best with the personnel we had. So to me with his current roster it probably involves TVD and his tight ends early

No doubt but I wouldn't expect something dramatic like testing them deep early. Runs/RPO/misdirection/lots of 12 personnel/etc will be a good mix for the first quarter.

Definitely a real thing. Saban has talked about it for years. Also when my first born was touring colleges during high school we were staying at the same hotel of a guy that Kirby Smart was using. We had a really in depth conversation about what he was doing with the uga team. My son is now a college senior so this had to be around 2018 at the latest.
Thats interesting... Early congrats to your son, as well. You remember what was said in the convo?

Why not? He trusts TVD... Says he will be demanding a lot from the WRs...

On haynes King:

After getting the starting nod to begin last season, King completed 21-of-32 passes for 292 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in a season-opening win over Kent State in 2021. However, he was injured early in A&M’s second game and missed the rest of the season with a leg injury.

Edge cooper, Andrew white and then harris is like a hybrid edge rusher but he’s a freshman. Andrew white is the most consistent of the bunch. He won’t make any game changing plays but he’ll never be out of position, they don’t have a game changer at the spot til proven otherwise
I think Cooper is going to be a baller.

Their official depth chart hasn't been released this week. Seems that Jimbo may not do that this season, like Mario.
Their 247 reporter is giving his best guess, based on what he has seen and heard so far in camp:

For the Defense:

Edge
Fadil Diggs
, third year (four star)
Lebbeus Overton, first year (five star)

Freshmen such as Malick Sylla and Enai White who will also see time here, especially if A&M uses a three man front and essentially plays one of them as a standup outside backer.

DE
Tunmise Adeleye
, second year (four star)
Anthony Lucas, first year (five star)

Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy (essentially missed spring ball and fall camp while recovering from injury) and Shemar Stewart who could see time here.

NOSE
McKinnley Jackson
, third year (four star)
Albert Regis, second year (four star) OR
Marcus Burris, second year (four star)

Three Tech
Isaiah Raikes, third year (three star)
Shemar Turner
, second year (five star)

Due to A&M's recruiting, there's any number of options available to them at either tackle spot such as five star frosh Walter Nolen (also missed much of fall camp) or Brownlow-Dindy.

Mike Linebacker
Chris Russell
, four years (four star) OR
Andre White, four years (four star)

Will Linebacker
Edgerrin Cooper
, third year (four star)
Tarian Lee Jr., fourth year (three star)

Cornerback
Jaylon Jones
, third year (five star) OR Myles Jones, fifth year (four star)
Brian George, fourth year (four star) OR Tyreek Chappell, second year (three star)

Nickel
Antonio Johnson
, third year (four star)
Bryce Anderson, first year (four star)

Safety
Jardin Gilbert
, second year (four star)
Jacoby Mathews, first year (four star)

Demani Richardson, fourth year (four star)
Jarred Kerr, first year (four star)

The offense is bad. I had been saying that. The QB is above average but jimbo won’t play to his strengths

I don’t know man, that QB looks pretty trash to me. Good athlete but terrible accuracy and bad decision maker. If he plays like this against us he’ll throw 4 picks.

Jimbo's offense looks really bad, and Haynes King looks like ****.

If we don't vomit on ourselves, we should make it an interesting game.
