TAMU Notes: Defense heading into Week 1

Who are the LBs for TAMU we should know. Always hear about the DL and secondary for good reason, but I can't name a LB off the top of my head.

Curious as to your thoughts on that position group?
Edge cooper, Andrew white and then harris is like a hybrid edge rusher but he’s a freshman. Andrew white is the most consistent of the bunch. He won’t make any game changing plays but he’ll never be out of position, they don’t have a game changer at the spot til proven otherwise

I can’t speak for every other Miami fan on this board but I myself would never crown or even say a quarterback is GOOD before he’s attempted 100 passes in his college career. Sorry try again. You’re wrong period, stop trying to dance around the subject with all this bllsht you keep typing trying to make it seem like what you said isnt ridiculous.
Exactly. They’ll ***** when we hype our own guys up then do it for another teams QB who 10% of the passes that left his hand have been to the other team 😂

You’re not making the point you think you are. While Cis was hyping up Jake, I was the one hyping TVD without him playing a snap. So I do it for my own team too. I just do it better than you, and a lot of people. But to be fair to y’all, (it’s been my literal profession a while to coach/scout)

Bro, fangs are out with some Kool-Aid drinkers right now, lol. You weren't slurping on A2M at all.

I was at the 2014 Canes/Noles game when Jimbo was their HC and Jameis Winston led them to the national title game (which they lost to Oregon). We were winning in the second half, should have won the game. They were so much more talented than us. But we wanted it more and almost pulled off the upset. To be honest, I think our D'O defense is what lost the game for us.

Jimbo sucked as a gameday coach. And his teams were almost always less disciplined. There's a reason FSU fell out with him, and it was more than money and boosters, or his wife sleeping around on him. He lets his players run amok.

Expecting a loss. But we definitely have a chance to win, IMHO. Especially if that new QB of theirs throws multiple picks.

David Lake is that you?

I’m not trying to make any point. Happy for you. Have a great Sunday.

That’s our best bet. Short fields off turnovers. Or even short fields from the return game. I’m hoping to see improvement there we hired a good ST guy. Its crazy because they’re more talented and besides their d-line, I’d argue we have more potential game chargers on both sides than they do right now. At any moment rooster or brashard smith can go off in space, expecting arroyo to have a good showing too. On defense they have that monster d-line but they haven’t played together a bunch of games yet.their secondary is strong but they don’t have avantae Williams or James Williams who can flip the game upside down. It’ll be interesting

A poster (I think ibisrules) gave the key to the game earlier and it’s tackling. There are gonna be many 1:1 opportunities in space.

If Frierson, JW0, Kinchens, Avantae, Steed, Caleb Johnson, and K4 and the CBs wrap up the entire game, we win.
Going to have to stop the run.

Jimbo"s second half adjustments were the difference against Miami"s poorly corched teams. Miami was in the game at the half then guys like Dalvin Cook would go off. Wont see that in the a&m game this time.

For about 30 plays, we had some of the best game planning I'd seen in some time. The Walford play was a thing of beauty. We ran out of bullets.

Jimbo's FSU staff was usually solid with second half adjustments. That, or they had someone video taping our practices, because once they adjusted, we'd get locked up. Hopefully, MC has the practice areas scanned for bugs.

Speaking of that game, we did some basic, but nice things moving Walford across formations:

As mediocre as we have been in recent years, what has bothered me the most is our lack of physicality. It will take some time to get the right bodies in place but the A&M game, particularly their D line, will be a preview of our staff's impact as well as that of our S&C.

They have a better roster.

It’s an away game.

It’ll be the 3rd game of a completely new regime.

Not saying we can’t win but don’t set yourself up for disappointment. There’s good reason our buddies in Vegas have the line at more than a TD.
Devil's advocate - factoring in a severe crowd advantage, Vegas thinks these two teams are pretty evenly matched; it would probably be around a 5 pt. spread on a neutral site, which is surely not as stark of a difference as some of the doom and gloom predict. Everyone knows how often we've sputtered in big-time televised game, and oddsmakers still respect us to a degree.

Regardless, we're going to find out in the first few drives whether our d-line can hold up against the run. If we can, game on. If not...it'll be a long night.

Always fun seeing someone try to be objective on CIS. If it's not 15-0 and TVD winning the Heisman these mouth breathing pansies get their panties wedged. The trick is to not take them serious.
