Talan

I like Talans game but hey.... What can we do?

I prefer Talan and Archer before Barry. Call it biased, I want the kids that were all-county selections from south florida before someone from out of state.

Hope they are not putting all their marbles into hoping Houston is coming.

They have to be going to a 4-3 next year. The linebackers we will have next year are too small to play 3-4.

grace olb 6'1 205, gayot olb 6'1 210, perry olb 6'2 207, mccray olb 6'3 200, owens olb 6'3 225, young ilb 6'2 230, kirby ilb 6'1 235, smith olb 6'1 215.

There is no ****ing way they would be able to hold up in a 3-4.

Lol at moving to a 4-3. Cmon, man, don't tell me you believe that nonsesne

AGAIN WHAT IS A NON COMMITABLE OFFER? I THOUGHT YOU EITHER GET AN OFFER OR YOU DON'T.

Its a contingency offer. "We want to take you, but we cant accept it yet. We will know more when things shake out with a few other guys."

Again, LB recruiting like CB recruiting is either ineptitude or intentional sabotage.

We have 5 3 down LBs on the whole roster: Owens, Kirby, Grace, Young, Perry. Who knows what Gayot can give?

mmmm i just don't understand how we can offer Devin Gil a player who plays similar to Talan from the same High School as him and not Talan, truly mind boggling.

It's called projecting a player. BTW its not an exact science. More than likely they see a bigger upside in Gil in the future and a topped player in Talan. just my take.

Yesterday everyone had a boner. Today everyone is ready to start a fire.

Ill be the one to say it, do not want the barry kid, I guess our staff did not catch the hint when Flanagan coach said Talan is a little faster than Gill really meaning he is a little better than Gill. We have three players we should be after at that position, Talon, Archer, and Shawn Curtis. Shawn Curtis is a monster, with a little footwork that kid will be dangerous. Its like we just had all this good news about the 16 class and this staff back tracked, give me John Houston at LB or Talon and/or Curtis no barry.

It's funny, b/c all these guys that Golden is crapping on are going to come back to smack us in the mouth...I'm sorry, but Golden's evaluation is very suspect. He has failed to understand you lock down home, FIRST....then you go out and cherry pick the best from the other states.

Coker's issue was that he chose not to recruit at all. Shannon's issue was that he focused on one So. Fla school only, leaving all the others out in the cold. Golden's issue is to lock down So. Fla first and foremost. He consistently attempts to lock it down too late in the process, figuring they're easier to get to and "who wouldn't want to come to the University of Miami."

All 3 went away from the blueprint that made all of the previous coaches here successful; hence, we are in the predicament that we are in today.

Appreciate the info Pete, but highly doubt Brightwell's offer was not committable. Too much time and effort spent to say it wasn't. Sounds like spin.

Barry >>>>> Talon....

and ima big s.fla guy..who lives down the street from Flanagan.

Barry has more upside.......

Now i'd offer the Archer kid...for the simple fact that it would of locked in Scarlett.

I also like the Shawn Curtis kid out of Reagan. Now Curtis looks to play the same position thehy recruited Godinier for..but he still looks like a take in our scheme all the way imo.

Talan too me looks tapped out physically....He will be a good player in a scheme fit...i dont think he would work to his full potential in our scheme currently..but in Randy's scheme he would have as an OLB....and at Va tech, or even TCU who is on him.
Grace is probably a good 2 inches taller and ten -15 pds heavier and we have almost made him a situatuational player in our scheme...

That tells us they have LBs who are silents and they are willing to ride with the 4 they have committed for next year.

Dont forget the amazing 2016 haul on deck. Shaq's Dad was talking about how those 3 have already formed this great bond and are all hoping to come as EE's together. Are those 3 all better than guys like Talan or Brightwell or Barry? I'm guessing yes...but I know we still gotta get what we need each year.

You're a poster I like but people often use this excuse way too liberally. I find it to be a lame excuse for not recruiting a kid. Makes no sense.

Naw....some kids are really early boomers and wont get any bigger or faster as they have reached their peak... Ive seen it my whole life and playing in sports since i was really really young.

Talan oto me looks like a kid that you may be able to squeeze out 10-15 extra pound son his frame but it could zap the actual athleticism that he possess.

Then you have a guy like Gayot who is/was basically starving himself or trying like hlel to maintain weight to play a position( safety) that he natural would outgrow.
Sometimes these coaches "look" for potential and upside more so..and then they see a kid as a finished product at times and wont make the effort.

AT LB with our current coaches...size seems to be a prerequisite.....i mean they had Perryman up at 250 in the spring lol...

Kirby is like 235-240. Darrion Owens as a freshman is above 225 and growing.

Jermaine Grace is the small guy at about 215-220 and he is a kid they just cant keep off the field because of his playmaker ability...

They seem to have their undersized guy in Perry.....who has the frame to be up to 225 in no time as well as he is lanky as ****.

so i understand....cant get mad if they have a preference and certain kids just doesnt fit what their trying to do scheme wise..(even though their scheme is sum sh*t)

My preference in wathcing both films is Barry imo.

Something that had me confused. .i asked AQM what position he is playing and he said he was playing Rush...now in our HS defense 4-3 the down 4 we call End, Shade/NT, 3 and a Rush...so i just assumed they were moving to the same scheme .. and when i hear Sam and Will I'm thinking 4-3.... when i think 3-4. I'm thinking 2 ILBs and 2 OLBs with ILBs being meaty gap pluggers and the OLBs being DE/LB hybrids edge rushers

I don't disagree with this. Matter of fact, this is the only "knock" on him I can think of. Grace has a thicker torso, thus Grace will put on (and hold) more weight.

However...

If Crawford can play Safety here, Talan can play Safety here.

Gil is 6'1", 6'2" and Talan is 5'11" at best

5'11"?

Who told you that?

And Gil is nothing like Talan. Talan was by far Flanagan's most explosive player on defense. They're not even in the same league.
