TAC x Patke Interaction

I mean, we've seen it with this staff already. They're playing the younger, better talent at positions now because they were basically forced to it by injury. And now we're playing better. But at other positions, like LB, they're playing guys they want to rely on like Flagg or Ragone because they feel comfortable with them there, even thought they're not the most productive. And this isn't a knock on Ragone, he's playing up to his highest level, and that's all you can ask for. But it's clear as day that a majority of these guys are not getting their chance to play, and I don't want to hear **** about how they look in practice. Because we've been seeing Bolden and Hall start over Kitches and Williams for a quarter of the season.
I think you're absolutely correct!!! They're playing the guys they feel comfortable with at LB. They see these guys do the right things in practice and think to themselves they can get the job done. THEY HAVEN'T.

It's just crazy to me not to put in the more athletic player with the most upside. He can't do any worse than what we're seeing and his athleticism will make up for a lot of mistakes. Plus, he'll learn from his mistakes. The guys in front of TAC are making mistakes AND just don't have the physical tools to make all the plays.

He’s one of the guys l could see leaving if staff remains the same. Rutgers probably would be interested. Maybe Syracuse.
Who were they waiting for in the transfer portal? I can't imagine they felt good about the rotation we have been rolling with this season.

So the assumption here is that TAC is the next Ray Lewis even though he rides the bench as a 6' 1" 205 lb linebacker. I've been a critic of Patke but gossip like this is worthless trash. Interesting to se how the thread denigrates into more and more negativity. This after a nice win on the road, go figure!

Got spun around about 6 times in one play in zone coverage too. Looked so lost out there trying to cover the middle of the field.

Don't remember the result of the play though.

Correct. I don't knock the kid because I'm sure he works his *** off but the reality is that he's extremely limited physically and is a liability from that perspective. It's one thing for him to be surrounded by studs, but when you're around other guys at your position who are limited physically, the last thing you need is to put yet another physically limited person out there. This all falls on Diaz and Patke. Patke is out of his depths with special teams and as for Diaz goes, he's recruited like crap at supposedly "his" position. I'd be ****ed as well but hopefully with these kids, they are patient and hang in there.

Why’d it take half the season for the coaches to stop giving Hall snaps over Kam? Why doesn’t Brashard play mor? Taylor? Etc.

The staff stinks, man.
Kam was getting acclimated and eventually took snaps from an upperclassmen. Who is Brashard taking reps from? Restrepo? Y’all act like some of these players are head and shoulders better when that’s not the case. TAC came in the SAME class as Flagg. I think there could better situational coaching for sure. Not sure how good TAC is in coverage but he definitely has better speed than Flagg and would be a better spy.

@JayCane20 I have a friend in Philly area coached a handful of NFL kids and another guy who's son is at a big 12 school who both said this kid was a beast.
they actually saw him growing into a De but said hes much faster than he looks. its a shame, he has to add to his 40 time, get it over a 4.8

I thought what the **** is going on when I saw Ragone. This makes no sense for this kid to not even get a shot on the field.

First, I agree TAC should be seeing some snaps given how awful we are at LB. But Ragone played 5 snaps. If TAC got 5 snaps idk if they makes him feel instantly better but I get the optics of Ragone going in over him. I am still confused that he was coming on so strong during spring, then an injury seemed to set him back but if he is healthy wtf is going on?

Flagg is what he is, Keontra is playing fine, Jennings needs to go, I saw him leave the field hurt, never root for injuries on our own team but maybe he takes the year to train for his next destination, Brooks ever since his "deuces" tweet I dont thin has seen the field, did he even travel to Pitt? Troutman was always a project and a reach coming in, and who knows with Davis. I have not hear a word about him.

44 may be the worst LB I've ever seen in College Football. And 11 is good if they running it right at him. He's like an old school, in the box, Mike LB. If the offense is running wider than C gap, or passing the ball, and he's in man.... he's a liability. He couldn't even run with the Pitt QB. A Univ. of Miami LB getting outrun to the edge, by a **** QB, not named M. Vick, or L. Jackson, is horrible.
Pitt exploited both of them in the passing game when they made their comeback to tie the game. Pitt could and should have ran the same plays over and over again when seeing either #11 or #44 in the game.

I'm not trying to bash these young men. It's the coaches fault. Both of them should be limited to run specific downs. Even then, a really good OC would give his QB an audible for a wheel route or a seem route with his RB and exploit them.

Truth be told, I really don't understand why more teams don't do it. They may call 3-5 plays during a game, but if I'm the coach, I'm calling 10-15 pass plays to my RB when either is in the game.

stuff like this is why we should ALL want Manny fired. There are too many examples off things like this to ignore. Ragone shouldn’t see the field outside of special teams.
This. Not sure Patke has much say in who starts. This has been a Manny pattern since he as been HC and also is happening with other units.

Patke is the weakest link on a staff full of weak links but good lord at the assumption that some of these fringe guys are world beaters. There's a reason why TAC doesn't play and my guess would be we'd be wailing on him for his shortcomings if he did get more snaps

No, every kid who doesn't play is an All-America waiting in the wings. We all know this. We'd have beaten Bama if the staph just knew how to figure out how to get TAC on the field with zero experience.

Who TAC? He’s that fast?
Yes. Tyrique Austin-Cave. Check out his high school track and field numbers. You can't see most of them without paying, but he ran the 200 meters in 23 seconds indoors and 22.86 outdoors.
Patke and Diaz are going to look like the biggest fools when this young man transfers and becomes a star.

Stop trying to down play this young man. He weighs 225 lbs. Cut the Bull ****!!! He's really fast and should be getting an opportunity especially with the guys in front of him playing so poorly.

LOL, this thread is amazing, the "I hate South Florida recruits" gang is really showing their true colors.
.
Just a couple of weeks ago you all got your Vickie Secrets in a bunch when Brooks sent out a vague tweet after a loss, but this week some of you all are waving your pompoms at a Dad for cussing a coach out AFTER A WIN...unreal.

Not a good look for Cave.

You saw Cribby just list his most likely transfer spots. Rutgers and Syracuse. If that is the case I don’t see how you are getting these Devin White comparisons. As much as it sucks so far our transfer attrition has not outdone what they did here for the most part.
