While a solid class, it's not enough.

It's gonna take successive, top notch classes to get this thing back...classes that produce at least 50% significant starters, and/or major contributors. Something that didn't happen for Shannon after the 08' class, and something that Golden failed miserably at after the 2013 season.

Its an outstanding class that they put together in a month and a half.

In all fairness, a lot of those guys were already on board. Even Diaz credited the last staff for this LB class. We all wanted Golden gone, but the guy had talent on deck. Richt will do even better.

They didn't put it together. Golden, for all his failures, did a great job recruiting this class and Richt said it when he came in.

This class hit the 50% blue chip mark. Half of it was 4-stars or up. If anything 2017 is lagging behind it a bit.

When you include transfers, this class strategically addressed every single part of the roster that required immediate improvement. While one recruiting class can't cover up all of our weaknesses, the future is bright. A good season will allow us to land a game-changing play-maker or two. String together back-to-back good seasons, and we will really start loading up. While I'm optimistic about this year and next, I think Spring '18 is when we'll know if we've become a powerhouse again.

agree entirely. given our schedule, a competent coach with an edge (he was fired essentially, he lost 40 pounds, he's calling plays again, he's at his alma matter, this his is last gig, he's grooming his son) and top notch QB with sufficient talent in the skill positions, we should win the games that we normally lose. while we wont win all of them and likely wont be in the playoffs, we should do sufficiently well to attract the 2017 SF players that have been going elsewhere because of our demise. they will come next year (again) and then we will do better in 2017 and, rinse and repeat for 2018, then the building of a program will have begun.

we have competent coaching for the first time in many, many years.
**** richt lost 40 pounds?!

LOL if you think Folden would have held onto even half those guys if he didn't get fired.

Have a little bit of nuance. It wasn't as bad as it seemed, and it also so far hasn't been a recruiting boom.

Maybe some decommit. Most would and do not. Shaq's dad is on this board saying his son committed to a University not a coach and stayed firmly committed regardless. Nobody loses half a class from a firing a month and a half before signing day barring an institutional scandal.

Several of these kids were destined to be Canes:

EEs:
Allison
McCloud
Pinckney
Shaq
Bethel

Canes all the way:

Homer
Mullins
Irvin
Jackson
Wright
James

I don't think Bruce or Richards would have signed here if not for the coaching change.

Martin, Johnson, Haskins, Harris, Williams, Colbert, Young, Finley wouldn't be here if not for CMR.

Any list not containing Jackson in the Top 5 is an apocraphyl shamockery and should be ridiculed by the masses

Based on practice reports? His name has come up a couple times but he's not even a 2nd teamer at this point.
So you have McCloud in the top 5 based on what?

Demetrius Money has been singing Jacksons praises for months. How dare you?

No disrespect, and this class is good but I'm fairly sure this class could have sucked and it wouldn't matter because what puts UM back on the map is Richt and the new staff.
At the end of the day we're going to look back and point to the day UM became relevant again as the day CMR was hired.
