But I have to admit, I laughed out loud at the porster who suggested a Background Check Dream (Nightmare?) Team of Kiffin, Briles, and Orgeron.

It's a decent question. I would say that if Butch faced questions (not just from Miami) about past NCAA investigations, then Freeze might have issues too. It's a tough call with Miami, given our past (and I've previously talked about how some BOT members have been on the Board since the dawn of man), I'm not sure we have much tolerance level for that sort of thing.

I think Freeze will have plenty of SEC school suitors who just don't give a ****, though.

Sure. Because the FIRST POST in this thread is 100% convinced that Kiffin is the best choice, will be the best choice, and cannot even acknowledge the many reasons why Kiffin is NOT the first choice, even if he has a handful of fans on the BOT.

That's all. It's not about arguing, it's about how stubborn Lane Train Passengers are. I'm not 100% against Lane. He's not my favorite. I could see certain merits to hiring him. I just can't see why his fanboys can't recognize the other side of the equation, that's all.
 
Can someone please answer me this? Why does Kiffen get a pass for utterly failing at USC and Tennessee, two huge programs with tremendous resources, and Mario can't be forgiven for a few shi**y seasons at FIU, a program with no resources that we now know is actively sabotaged from the top down?

Stuff at FAU too, which is recent. I'm not saying "no way ever", I'm just saying "take this into account". Because this isn't some huge uncoverable secret.

There is a difference between clueless BOT members being enamored of a currently successful coach...and the final decision-making process once things get to the "serious discussion" level.

I don't hate Lane. But we have a current power vacuum at AD. So RIGHT NOW, the word of random BOT members is a bit more powerful than it would be if we had a real AD in place. Thus, a few Lane fanboy BOT members can elevate Lane's profile to "#2 with a bullet". Maybe that status can survive a background check, maybe it can't. In what I have seen in my 35 years of involvement with UM, my opinion is that this will be more problematic than Lane Train Passengers seem to think it is.

See, this is what kills me lol. And I swear to God I am not caping for Kiffin, but natratives like this gets tossed around and it’s just not true. He didn’t “utterly fail” at UT. He went 7-6 in year 1 following a 5-7 season by them and then left for USC. Utterly failed at USC? Ok, I mean that’s up for debate IMO but I’ll give you that because again, I’m not caping for the dude but the narrative that he failed at UT just isn’t true lol.

I’m with you on the Mario/FIU deal though, people using that for their case against Mario is LOL worthy. JMO.
 
So I guess Matt Campbell and Tom Allen are no longer wants since both are severely underachieving...............

I'm hoping you heard, Pig Floyd's is taking over the original Bubbalou's on Lee Road. Opening in Spring 2022. Very happy about that one.

The owner of Stasio's (who I spoke with this a.m) is very good friends with Pig Floyd's owner. Between them, they're supposed to open a Barbecue/Pizza place soon...Not sure it's gonna be the Lee Rd establishment...I think it'll be near Track Shack on Mills...

YES! Just mentioned that in my PM. Lee Road will be "regular Pig Floyd's", and the Piggza spot will be on Mills.

The Mills strip between Colonial heading into Winter Park use to be my favorite spot for lunch when living in Orlando.
