I have a flight Friday into Fort Lauderdale so I'm screwed

+1. Starting to look that way

I think you're fine for Friday to be honest. I'm flying down on Thursday night. I'm really screwed.

Wife, son and I are scheduled to arrive in Fort Lauderdale at 2pm Thursday. No bueno based on this model. May have to start making plans to fly on Friday instead. I doubt the game is cancelled unless there's a direct hit and there's no way I'm missing this game. I will drive down if I have to!

The 2005 GT game (game that began the misery we're finally emerging from) was supposed to be played in late October. That game ended up being postponed by about a month because of a hurricane.

That's the only game I can recall that's been postponed by a hurricane.

There also was the 2001 UW game that was postponed by 9/11. And the 1999 Temple game that was postponed because their plane didn't arrive in Miami on time.

UCLA 1998 was postponed due to a Hurricane.

This game will be fine. Everyone calm the **** down.

I think Monday would be only day game could be moved to with no more bye weeks for miami. Can't move it to week of acc championship with miami still in hunt for coastal

They would not play the game on Monday and turn around and play North Carolina Saturday.

Well what would you suggest? Miami doesn't have another bye week this season.

I don't think this game gets cancelled but my flight worries me and I've spent over $1000 for this weekends trip.

I've never seen any model of Matthew that hits anywhere close to Dade County. Most models have it hitting the Carolinas and maybe Savannah, Georgia. I've never even seen a model where it hits Jacksonville/North Florida.

A category 4 hurricane isn't limited to the little black dot or the spaghetti line. This thing is massive. Forget the eye hitting. That would shut down Miami-Dade County for a month. If the eye is 100 miles off shore, Dade will still get significant tropical storm or Cat 1 winds.

Yup from what they are saying we will get tropical forced winds at minimal

It's simply too early to say what this storm will do. People are so funny with the weather. Turn off the news and give it until Wednesday. Then we'll know what the impacts for south Florida will be

2004 game Vs. FSU was postponed.

Panicky sons of bītches. Grow a fūcking pair all you jittery mamalukes.

If you live on the east coast of Florida, be vigilant, and start possibly thinking about preparations, you know, like a grownup.

Otherwise, there's nothing that can be done other than possibly adjusting travel plans for those flying in.

Right now based on probabilities of these charts, it is not going to be a direct hit, just maybe some really nasty weather and nasty winds and some damage. Or not. It could end up way east of us, since the cone is really wide. Being vigilant is the only course of action.

As far as the football game, what will happen will happen. At the end of the day who gives a flying fūck. It's a game. Theyll figure something out. But I'd say the odds are over 90% it still gets played on Saturday. Because the only way doesn't get played is if there is so much damage in the area, that it wouldn't be prudent to congregate that many people, or there is damage to the stadium which is highly highly unlikely.

*Call out the board for being panicky btches... Proceeds to repeat everything we've already said in the thread.

I guess you're reading a different thread where everybody takes something that is completely out of their control with a grain of salt and are smart about any plans

If NHC issues a hurricane warning for south Florida (a very likely scenario at this point even though the chances of a direct hit are small), you can call your airline and get your money back.

Don't look until Wednesday. Then you can worry if the predictions are bad.
