Stadium progress

Not putting my faith in an organization that has not shown the capacity to ever do anything right. Dolphins are the worst NFL franchise in the country.

Hurricanes will win their 6th ring before the dolphins ever sniff a super bowl birth

Really worst franchise? Where the **** have all our first overall draft picks been then?

so having a #1 pick overall is the only measure of ****tiness?

Guess you must overlook the past 20+ years. You also probably have that ****ty Miami Dolphins song on your playlist.

If you need any further proof of how ****ty the dolphins then I cannot help you.

How can they be the worst franchise if they haven't finished with the worst record once? I'm not saying they've been good but get your emotions in check. This isn't Cleveland. We've been all around .500 for most of these past few years. While that sucks, there are worse franchises.

My cousin works on the construction of the stadium. I'll try to check in with him this week and gets some info.

I guess you forgot about the 1-15 season when we got jake long with the first overall pick huh? The phins have been really mediocre for years its sad, a lot of it has to do with owners hiring the worst GMs and coaches and not making the QB position a priority

Gotta love CIS. We even have construction insiders on here.

I hope we can get out of the lease because we can the snap our fingers and have our own stadium the next day.

The CIS contract and real estate legal scholars that believe we could break a lease because a game against FAMU had to be moved as Ross provides $400 mil in lipstick to his pig without cost to us care not about the triviality of actually having a viable alternative to play at. Just break that lease!.......then be forced to sign another one at a rate that a ****ed off Ross sets.

I've never been of the mindset that Shalala's 1000 yr lease would actually be a huge deterrent in us moving out of there but ya kinda need to have done a little legwork in actually having an alternative. Blake being open to someone gifting us space at another place one day ain't exactly that.

Is Beckham still a viable option? Any word if negotiations of possibly expanding the team as a joint venture open? Is Beckham even still interested in building in Miami?

Nah, I think the hopes of us glomming on to Beckham's deal are dead. In fact, I'm beginning to think his deal won't actually even get done. The last I read about it (about a month ago) they had bought the Overtown parcel for like $10 mil but the city had failed to deliver on another 3 or 4 acres of land that are needed separately. It also seemed like Overtown community activists were starting to mount opposition to it being there at all too. It really seems like Beckham was mistaken in thinking that a bunch of local political hacks climbing over each other for photo opps with him was the same as "greasing the wheels" in Miami-Dade to get anything done- especially after the Marlins Stadium debacle. Probably where he would have benefited by having UM on board and we would have benefited from looking for a "partnership"...errr....handout.

It's Joe Robbie or nothing for the University of Miami for the foreseeable future. There's no option. The Tropical park BS is 100% pipe-dream. Give up on that. If Beckham ever gets any kind of stadium going. it's not going to be a large multi-purpose type stadium. More like an outdoor arena. So if you think Miami is going to play in a 25,000 seat "stadium" you're on crack. The school isn't forking out the money to build anything. Donors aren't forking out the money either. We're talking about a billion dollars here, not a couple high profile boosters and ex players donating a couple mil. They're not getting out of the lease because they have no leverage.

Besides, the stadium will be ready for FAMU. The job won't be 100% completed but the structural work will be done.

Getting Beckham to go to something capable of holding north of 40,000 people was the last chance at anything outside of our current situation and that ship has seemingly sailed. I don't agree that it'd cost $1 billion to build something to fit our needs but it's moot even if it cost $300 mil. You'd probably have to have $100 mil in pledged donations before the admin would even kick around the idea before dismissing it and reiterating how great the "new" Dolphins Stadium is. Wake me up when Marcus Lemonis shows up on campus with a big check and a commitment from Camping World to pay an exorbitant amount of money for naming rights to their second stadium in Florida.

Yeah, $1 Billion was just a number I was throwing out. But seeing as the renovations for Sunlife or whatever it's called are running north of 300 million, I can only imagine what the costs of buying the land and building a new stadium would be. Even if it's a smaller 40,000 seat type stadium.

There are some people here that actually understand the reality of the situation. Unless UM has a T Boone Pickens or a Paul Allen out there ready to seed a project with hundreds of millions of dollars, it will NEVER happen.

Lemonis is a total joke because he knows that's it's impossible, he was just pimping for publicity. If he wasn't, he'd take that million dollars he pledged and donate it to the IPF. Where is he?

So can we get out of the quarter century contract if we have to move the fsu game or at least have it restructured? Unfortunately we have zero leverage and no where to go

I doubt any kind of stadium we'd build would cost over 400k. We aren't an NFL team or giant public school. We wouldn't have any crazy **** in the stadium. Just grass, seats, and a parking lot for tailgating.

I'm hoping you mean 400 million. 400k will get you a 3 bedroom two bathroom house in the suburbs.

To put it in perspective, UCF's stadium cost over 55 million and FAU's cost over 70 million. I've been to both and they're bare bones. FAU holds 30,000 people and UCF is around 45,000. Keep in mind that both of those stadiums were built on campus property already owned by the school, so those costs were just construction and materials. Miami would first have to purchase a huge parcel of land big enough for a stadium and parking. Open space in Dade county is pretty limited and property anywhere outside of the ghetto is incredibly expensive.

Also I would way rather see games at Joe Robbie than one of those POS aluminum glorified high school stadiums like the smaller schools have.
