Stadium progress

The main thing to show woul be ROI out of an almost half billion dollar investment. That's why a huge gift, in the neighborhood of hundreds of millions of dollars, is the only way this happens.

There are many benefactors willing to give money for research and academics (as evidenced by the billion+ Momentum campaigns), but not to something they would consider superfluous like a stadium.

I would Not be surprised to see Stuart Miller, Micky Arison, Schwartz each donate millions. But I really don't think it would take a 100M donation either. I think we could build a stadium for around 300-400M. Miller has donated 100's of millions here. Schwartz just built the academic center, and Arison donated to the Momentum2 campaign and is a billionare. And I'm sure you can get quite a bit of football players currently in the NFL to donate about a Mill each, like an Allen Hurns, Lamar Miller, Allen Bailey, TBenjamin, EFlowers, Jimmy Graham, you know, guys that have recently signed million dollar deals.

I honestly believe that if some drive was started to build a stadium, and could ONLY be used to fund a football stadium, I think it would certainly take some time, but would eventually get done, especially if we sell naming rights.

I don't think so. Not with the people you mentioned. Not for a stadium that would be used 6 times a year. Not when you would need in the neighborhood of $300 million at the very least.

The thing would be it wouldn't be used for just football....that's how it has to be presented, and offered up. If the drive is put out there, the stadium can happen. Just like Richt is pushing for the IPF, which will happen...if we push for a stadium, it will happen.

Uh no. Having a **** of a time getting the IPF funded, even with the head coach throwing in $1 million. They probably just need maybe another $15 million or less, and as of now they don't have it. It may not even be announced until next year.

You're in Lala land if you think we can get a stadium built through finance campaign. Like I said before. We need a major contributor, to throw in a couple of hundred million at least. Ain't happening..

I personally actually think they are just waiting until closer to the season to announce the IPF. It is a certainty that we will be getting it. I think they are purposefully waiting for the announcement for some reason, whether it be recruiting, or just so we have some news coverage heading into the start of the season or whatever. i really don't think the problem is funding.

If Pablo Escobar was still alive we'd have that IPF and be halfway to funding a new stadium. Miami was very very good to him.

He would have Atletico Nacional USA MLS brand soccer team playing there instead of the canes though.

It appears they are making progress towards the total $ required. If they already had the funds, the University would have very likely announced it by now (no reason not to or big date on horizon to wait for this type of release).

What concerns me is the "announcement imminent" phrasing thats been put out in the public domain. Usually when organizations use that vernacular, and they don't announce soon thereafter, they lose a touch of credibility.

Just pure speculation on my part, but I think the University continues to use that phrase for recruiting purposes, even if they are still short.

Makes them look a touch undisciplined, brand and messsaging wise, if they are still using it into the Fall or Spring of next year and still no formal announcement that "plans have been submitted and we expect shovels in ground on xx date and IOC on xx date".

If he was alive, he would be rotting in jail. You cats sure are delusional.

I would hope your hypothesis would be true.
It was a hypothetical scenario not a delusion.

Just had a discussion with a crane operator who's working on the stadium. He was confident the structural work will be done by week 1. The entire roof probably won't be finisged until week 2 but the stadium will be open for business. TIFWIW.

The IPF is already fully funded. They are going to be announcing it in the fall.
