Our only hope is that Dawson can scheme big plays. Nothing matters if TVD goes down again. Although I'd think that Dawson could do significantly more with Jacurri than Gattis proved he could do.
He turned Tune into a run threat, and Brown already is, so maybe he can turn Brown into a pass threat? A-B + B-A = TD

I love how fat ***** here who spend 12 hours a day behind the computer complaining on CIS about athletes going home or out of town for spring break.

I'll have you know I only come here sporadically during the day - it's sheer coincidence that every time I decide to do something physical - I find a reason to come back to my computer to check in and bellyache.

12 hours a day! My a**! And my backside is still kinda sculpted.

Kinda.

I waited all day for someone to post this.

Thank you!

These dudes play toooo much video games and arent the ones wking up at 430-5am to go lift **** weights and run for months.
What the **** are you going to do in them 5-7 days that is soooo different that will put u over the top?.
theyre built different

Can someone point me to the dominant games that Rivers has had at LG? I’ll even take a stretch of series against higher level opponents. People keep posting that he’s elite and he’s not. Cooper has flashes of elite on field production.

FM and Rivers are not the same player.
Big fan of Rivers but Samson and Mauigoa are different level. I’ve never seen us recruit a better looking LT prospect than Samson and that includes Henderson if you wanna go that route

I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other whether they should stay (I will let others debate that), but this cracked me up. It's like saying what difference does it matter if someone trying to get in shape has a cheat day if the other 6 non-cheat days they still eat like ****, just slightly better ****.

I've come late to the party of "People need to stay and work hard during Spring Break".

Before I start, I don't necessarily disagree with either side.

1. For people to assume that players don't do anything over Spring Break is actually kinda rich. I cannot possibly imagine that the players who don't stay don't do jack ****.
2. Despite what some may think, some of our players don't come from Miami. They got family and friends somewhere whom they may want to visit.
3. Whats so bad about a week off? Have y'all never had a week off at work? Rest is important and stepping away from doing something for a short period of time helps too.

However, these three points shouldn't take away from the fact that this team should invest every free second that they have into football and playing at the next level. Its what the big boy programs whom we want to be like instill into their players.

Too much logic and context for this board

I like Rivers, I like him quite a bit but he isnt elite or dominant. I think he could start and/or push for playing time on almost any team in the country but thats what he is, he is a good player. I just think that we have been so ****** for so **** long that we can no longer discern between good, great and elite. We have been doing this for a while now, anytime a player shows any flashes we right away label them elite or the next great Cane. We saw this with JHH, people were calling him a 1st round talent after he flashed early in his career. I am very comfortable with Rivers starting and if he ends up the 6th guy in the rotation then that is great news. As you said, Samson and Mauigoa or a different breed, they arent good they have the tools to be elite.

The staff feels that nothing in the portal is better than what we currently have at the top of the depth chart. Now, they might still bring in someone for depth purposes but that brings back my original point. You're asking a guy to transfer here to be a backup. Most portal guys are looking for playing time. Your only options are to take a JAG from another program who is cool with not being a starter or take a young, unproven player who isn't looking to start now but can compete for a position in the future. I could see option #2 as a possibility but we already have plenty of JAGs to bother with option 1.

The portal will look very different in a few weeks.

Did we just come off a 5-7 yr & got a new staff at the 11th hr or nah?

Glass half full says we dramatically underperformed last season (plus TVD was injured) and have upgraded this off-season with more to come from the portal in the next 2 -3 months. Not expecting to be natty champs. But can we find a way to get to 8+ wins? That would be a good start.

Yea Rivers being elite is not a hill I'd even attempt to climb yet alone die on. He's better than JAG but well below great.

I'm right there with you. And the crazy thing is Mauigoa is the more plug-and-play player right now. ... I'm not saying they won't start. Just saying I expect Nelson and Rivers to hold them off in 2023. Or at least I expected that. But if Ghandi is saying Rivers is already being overtaken, then I see that as a very good sign. To surpass a kid whom I believe will play in the NFL and has been a decent producer at Miami when healthy, as true freshman, that's impressive.

@Ghandi thanks for the intel. ... All I want is competition everywhere. Seantrel, Flowers and Donaldson just walked into starting roles as TFs. They performed "okay", but they didn't really deserve to start. It was a lesson that kids need to earn their spot. They need to beat out good players. Rivers and Nelson are good players. So if Maiugoa and Samson beat them out, then they're legit ready.
