Spring Practice 4/10 - Early Portion Notes

What's going on with Kai Leon Herbert? He was destined to start this year?

Someone (I think St Louis) made a comment in a post-practice interview that Herbert is still dealing with a shoulder issue from high school. He sort of backtracked after and said Herbert is fine. But I'm guessing that's probably part of it.

Think the first move is figuring out who the RT is. We know Tyree St Louis is gunna be the LT. Step one is figuring out who plays RT.

Now I think Jahair Jones and George Brown have no shot here, cause they simply aren't good, especially Brown. So that means either one of the Freshman, Hillery or Herbert, OR Donaldson. Those are the three options. Donaldson would probably be the safest choice at RT.

With the OTs figured out, the iOL is next. Luckily we already know one starter - Gauthier. Now The least important position on the OL is OG, therefore we should have Gauthier playing Center, which is a more important position.

Who will start at OG is a big question. Out of the two best OGs on the roster, the better run blocker will play RG. I think we got 4 guys that could win these two spots (if Donaldson needs to play RT) - Vincent Boulware (Transfer), Delone Scaife, Hayden Mahoney, and Corey Gaynor.

Very difficult to go undefeated regardless who you are. But if we only lose one or two games then one of them better not be fspoo.
Maybe our d line isn’t as bad as what I originally thought and we still have 2 studs coming in.
Jo Jax and Garvin made those ND all American tackles look soft as wonder bread and now they’re one year older stronger bigger and faster.

Every practice report leads to people making concrete declarations about the season. They expect every position group to be performing at an all time great level a couple weeks into spring. Anything positive about the DL getting after OL? Nope just that the OL sucks and we're losing at least 4 games next year.

Donaldson wanted to be an OT coming out of high school. If he's holding his weight down, he has the agility to be a wall there, which would be a great development. I hope Boulware can step in and bring interior strength. We have to be able to find five out of all the talented kids we have on roster now (with more coming in a couple months).

Good for Jennings. I was a doubter. Hope he makes me look foolish.
Forgot about Boulware. Could actually help here.

Donaldson at right tackle is a huge risk. Playing right guard last year he was getting beat by speed moves inside , playing outside there's a lot more space to get beat.
The times he got beat it was more due to technique than speed. There isn't much room in the interior line, speed is usually not a huge factor. He struggled some with footwork & hand placement like most True FR OL. I think he ends up at RT eventually
