Spring game thoughts

Everyone needs depth because injuries are usually a factor. The good thing imo is that we're not desperate for help anywhere (well, kicker?). So Cristobal's poised to choose players available at any of a few positions he deems necessary. And perhaps an impact player at a couple of positions.
Don't see a dire need though. For example, with a top 3 at DT, several big SDE's, and a surprising TF - we can take or leave a portaler ala Marley Cook last year.
Even at S there are talented options from an excess of CB's and promising youngsters. Just adding someone new doesn't mean they're better than what's on the roster. Point is, it appears, that barring departures we're in a position to pick and choose.

That never happens.

We'll definitely be hitting the portal again next year for a QB no doubt. As far as this spring portal,

WR still remains a big need. If Trader was in a cast regardless of the severity, its becoming a pattern of injuries. He struggled last year to get healthy and stay healthy. Plus relying on a RS freshman with limited experience to be your WR1 is a recipe for disaster. Daniels has an injury history. In a matter of no time, you could be relying on true freshman across the board to start.

Starting level DT to go with Blay. Let Scott be DT3, Moten DT4 and so on.

Safety to go with Poyser. This should've been addressed in the winter portal. Maybe one of the CBs move to safety in the fall after getting OJ and Brown back healthy.

Backup QB - Judd and Emory are borderline G5 level players. Nickel isn't going to be ready to step in if Beck goes down. Having said that, going to be incredibly hard to get any decent QB to come here to play backup.

EDGE - Only if a big time edge rusher becomes available, otherwise roll with what we have. Still not a believer in the Bain/Mesidor duo as our edges. Both are tweeners who lack length/speed to play outside. Hopefully Lightfoot and Lowe are developing and ready come fall.
