Spring game thoughts

Then I wouldn't expect us to do well against teams with a strong run game (like ND). I still have PTSD from those 8-minute scoring drives by GT last season.
Malik Rutherford 5 Yd pass from Haynes King (Aidan Birr Kick)
17 plays, 75 yards, 10:45

I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see how unbelievable it was at the time.
smh

You don’t think Bain can win a 1v1? … ok lol
Time will tell this year. According to this fanbase he’s a 1st team all American shoo in based on his freshman year. I see a guy that lacks the ability to be a disruptive edge on a consistent basis but lacks the physicality to play inside consistently.

Once again time will tell.

Fans not knowing what to think or decipher is exactly what MC wants. He doesn't care about entertainment value.
This fan could not care less about any of that. Just win baby. If the HC produces results and has us on the right trajectory then he can run practices totally open, totally closed or anywhere in between. "Spring" games" too. His call.

I actually agree. I accepted we will never have as much access as we want and to me it's ok as long as we win.

GT ran the ball down Georgia's throat. Our fanbase wants to be GOAT over night.
I remember people laughing at Notre Dame coach. It took him time to get them built up. Same here
I'm not sure I follow. Seems you think it's okay to enter the season highly vulnerable to a strong running attack, like what most playoff caliber teams will have. Pause on this from NJshoreCane:

I don't think we need to focus on DT's at all. our D line is very versatile and can always move some players inside aka Bain and mesidor and even Blount - he's a monster - lets not forget about Jones and Horton

If I had to pick out of the best portal players available, I would get an elite LB.

but I'd say back up QB to compete with Luke
a RB just to have more depth
big wr to go along with Moore
safety or just switch on of our cbs to play safety
Unfortunately Horton can’t stay healthy and jones isn’t close to ready to be counted on

This. @DMoney here's a question for you -- how does this year's DT line hold up against last year's playoff teams' run games?

My guess is we couldn't get off the field consistently against ND, Georgia, Oregon, Texas, Ohio State, Penn State, Boise State and Indiana. Especially if one of them goes down or is banged up. Not where you want to be if you want to make a playoff run with Beck.
Scott was a five star, Blay was the second-ranked DT in the Portal, and Moten is a solid veteran. At some point we just need to play ball.

I wish we had Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter at DT, but those guys are hard to find and go for 3X the price in the Portal.

Georgia may wanna upgrade as well 😂.

They are expensive for a reason. A four man rotation of 300 lb DTs who can play seems like table stakes for a team that wants a serious playoff run.

We agree on the bolded part. I sure hope I'm wrong. But IMO, we haven't reached that point yet at DT.

Emory and Judd need to transfer and we need to bring in the highest level back up quarterback with P4 starts or G5 starts we can find in the spring window.

Emory and Judd are wasting reps.

If Beck goes down, we are cooked regardless (like 99% of CFB teams are if their QB1 goes down), so overpay an older guy to provide a buffer and keep challenging Nickel but not hoard rep volume.

Having to work Emory and Judd in is a detriment. It doesn’t matter if they understand the system, It’s not “running the offense” if it’s ten checkdowns to the RBs in a row.
