Soooo.......

People on here gushing about this win remind me of NFL fans screaming "Super Bowl" after a pre season win.

Arkansas State as a litmus test? Is this a joke? Anyone who knows what good football looks like knows that this team is poorly run and poorly coached.

The painful part is there are some really talented kats on this team: Duke, DP, Chick, Phillip.....really stand out.

The words in bold that are from YOUR post is all I need to see. I don't need to go back and look at what you said and have no interest in doing so.. In this thread you stated "we were hoping that bad team would beat us" , you even put hoping in all caps to clarify. There's no debating that sir. You're pathetic

If you're next post says anything along the lines of you not liking Golden and the staff and that's your reasoning, I ain't tryna hear it. Disliking the head coach should never make a "fan" root against his own team

You can clearly see when I joined the site if you simply look on the left side of the page. Honestly, you're an idiot

And being as honest as I can be...you're a ****ing moron. Go root for another team.

Go root for another team ? You mean like you were rooting for Arkansas State today ? I'm sure you're a Cornhusker this week now ?
Lmfao
Nah I'm good. I'm a Canes fan.

I'll give you the cliff notes for retards version

I want what's best for the program. What's best for the program is to get a real coach and staff in here as soon as possible to stop being irrelevant as soon as possible. Winning 8 games prolongs the inevitable and likely buys these morons another year.

So unless you're really a dreamer and still think we're going to win the Coastal, which I'm saying there's no way in **** we do.....yeah...I'm rooting for what's best for the program in the long term.

I guess we're just built a different way then. If Golden got fired today and we hired a competent coach, I'd be jumping for joy. But to root for us to lose is another story

I'd rather root for us to get lucky and win every game by one point if we had to.
Honestly I don't give a **** who is coaching our team as long as we win
I'm hoping for a new coach just like you, but until that day comes, I'll root for us to win every game.

Cliff notes version for fake *** fans : You don't root for your team to lose

While I don't root for the team to lose, I think you're completely missing the point. You are Hoping that we get better. Unfortunately people's hopes and reality are 2 different things, because often they have to hope for something when it's looking like it's not going to happen. If we're still a middling 6-8 win team 5 years from now will you keep hoping the staff will just turn it on and figure it out or are you going to be realistic and look forward to getting a new staff. Hoping the staff is replaced is likely more realistic than hoping they get their **** together. How long are you willing to see your team stay a middle of the pack team when the fix could be a coaching change away. How many young men's careers might end up in the drain while we keep hoping for this staff to learn to develop them. The only thing this staff seems to be good about is making our guys get bigger.

The OC showed some flashes of having a brilliant offensive mind, but also showed some dumb **** too... In spread backed up in you own endzone... Not running the ball with Gus and Chocolate once the game was under wraps. Instead we put Kayaa back in, leading to an INT & late score.

Still some improvements shown.

I remember telling people Tracy Howard is not that good and getting chewed up about it. He is not a shutdown corner. He usually plays a little better though. his confidence may be shot right now.

It just makes me laugh when people were talking about how great Tracy is and how much he's improved since he's been here. I've been saying it doesn't look like he's much different than day 1. I still put that on coaching though as I just dont see good player development other than players getting bigger.

this thread is incredible.

the criticism before today was "air it out" but after today it was "we threw it deep too much!". i mean...... what?

Honestly you're either

1)retarded
2)just joined the site and haven't read ANY OF THE POSTS I'VE MADE ON THE TOPIC OVER THE LAST TWO WEEKS

or

3) retarded

I've explained my stance on that topic numerous times. Try to act like an educated poster before you say the next stupid thing you're bound to say.

I'd like to go back in time and root for your mother to have an abortion if we're on the topic of what's best for the program.

My feelings are that the talent is there, the coaching and play calling are not. Same old ****. It was Arkansas State, I will be excited when we begin to beat FSU, Va Tech, etc...

For the first time in a while we actually played some press coverage that did not involve our DTs! I thought we played a good game and that taking the child restraint off of the offense was the right thing to do. Kaaya stepped up and made some really good throws. His ability to fit the ball in tight spaces is impressive - with better arm strength than I realized. Braxton is the real deal. OL needs work - too many penalties and broken plays. Still not a fan of the stand up rush guy or the predictable play calling on either side of the ball, but I enjoyed the win.

Our defense is a joke in the secondary Paul Williams should be fired but the front 7 is starting to look a little better, then again its Arkansas State.

Kaaya is gonna be so good I just hope he gets a real coach to develop him. He's got first round talent.

Tracy Howard has been a let down this year so far after a tremendous sophomore year.

Lastly, anyone smiling about this win and thinking it changes anything is drunk. We'll be lucky to put up a fight next week.

It's easy to open the offense up against a team from the Sun Belt. I hope we dont get in Lincoln, Ne on national TV and go back to 3 runs right into the teeth of the defense all night.

Here's my elongated feelings.

Special Teams:

The special teams is awful. Top to bottom awful. Dorsett should not be on the return teams. I don't care how fast he is.

Defense:

The defense is better, I just don't know how much better. We stopped their option today when we needed to, but I think Arkansas State's lack of passing threat was pretty evident. Their QB is a glorified running back who makes Nick Marshall look like Dan Marino. As bad a passer he is, he still had his moments against our secondary. This is on the players more than coaches. Other than Dallas, nobody is consistent. A lot of them are in position and still don't make plays. Even Deon only had his moments due to package plays like his blitz. I would like to see more of that. He's clearly effective at it. Tackling is awful and that's on the players at this point. D'Onofrio called a good enough game for them to be in the right position to make plays and the team wasn't making them. Going into Game 4, I feel the jury is still out on how good they are but the coaching is still poor. People out of position, scrambling around, not knowing their assignments. After watching Nebraska against Fresno State, I think this will be the real test. Power running with an elite running back and QB who has a solid arm and is a complete enough passer. It'll be telling.

Offense:

Encouraged, but once again, the play calling sucked a bag of ***. Only difference was they at least opened the playbook up a little bit. Kaaya showed some real strides and multiple ways and I think every fan should be excited by that. However, Coley and his trick plays are brutal and will be a liability going into major play. O-Line looked better against weak competition, even with the overwhelming amount of penalties. Duke and the other running backs just do what they want. The wide receivers are balanced and compliment each other nicely and Dorsett had a game for the ages. Good for him coming back from injury. Berrios is Offensive Freshman of the Year thus far and Courtel Jenkins is his defensive counterpart. Walford is really starting to emerge.

Biggest Takeaways:

This team is one of the 20-15 most talented teams in the country. It's blatantly evident. Once again, I felt we got outcoached but our superior players just out athlete-d Arkansas State to death. The defense contained a innovative, but one dimensional offense and still found a way to give up too many passing yards. The offense put up big play points on an overmatched defense that didn't have athletes in the same league as ours, all while still enduring sub-par play calling. Bottom line is we got a comfortable win against a good/very good lower tier team. If that's what'll be done to win from here on out, so be it. That's what early Coker did anyway. After watching Nebraska, we should win. The talent and matchups are all there. Coaching needs to rise to the occasion. I don't want to drink the Kool-Aid or fall for another in tailpipe trick but we looked better this week than last week.

Game MVP=Phillip Dorsett.

Best Highlight=Kamalu's body slam of the Arkansas State QB, looking over him, and most importantly getting the flag. That was an Old School moment I was happy to see.

I'd be willing to bet you get hitting by a small truck does the program a **** of a lot more good.

Kaaya had some nice throws to clive. Pa to clive is on the list of things that id like to see more of. Although i dont like the bubble screen, I can see Kaaya has been working on it. We need to get duke more involved in the passing game, because our oline is having trouble getting him holes. front seven looks B- so id say much improved from last season but secondary looks D- at best. Tracy Howard is struggling mightily thus far. We struggle to tackle in space but as the D improves id expect team speed to improve so that'll help having more guys around the ball. Overall im more confident now then i was before Ark State. Kaaya looks night & day better since louisville, i think he's gonna be a stud. Get the ball to dorsett in space. Berrios is probably my new favorite player. I love Kamalu's person foul LOL

I think it's time we give Arthur Kehoe a Hurricane retirement. Thank him for his service and bid farewell.
