Soooo.......

Minus the retarded "trick play" calls, even though we're moving the ball fine. I think we looked good. OLine is still having trouble giving Duke lanes, but the wideouts should keep stretching the fields. And for god sake--enough with the reverses!! But overall looked good.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the trick plays either. Though the fact the fact that they threw so many of them into one game makes me think that was less about this game, and more about making future opponents think twice about what we may or may not do.

Defense still looked lost. I was at game and was paying attention to details and they still weren't ready at the snap. Still refuse to go to 5 DB when they go 4 or 5 wide. Still have LB covering slot WR. Still can't cover WR when QB breaks contain and throws floaters. We should have beaten that team by 50, they were not good.

The same team you called a real threat weeks ago?

What's your point? We beat them by more than I thought we would. Congrats, you were right, I'll admit that I was wrong. Did you save that up, hoping you could use to prove you won an internet argument? Big man!

the defense is still bad. Pretty sure we are gonna get 500 hung on us at Lincoln.

Heard the same thing about Louisville. Heard the same thing about Arky State. Now, when Nebraska doesn't "hang 500" on us...we'll hear the same thing about the next opponent.

My feelings are that the talent is there, the coaching and play calling are not. Same old ****. It was Arkansas State, I will be excited when we begin to beat FSU, Va Tech, etc...

That sums it all up. Dudes getting moist panties about a sloppy win over a really bad club. Trying to stretch takeaways from that nonsense.

You know what the takeaway is? Beat a good team and look sharp and systematically sound in the process. Then, we can start prepping up the ticket tape for the parade. Until then, we had a spotty win against a team about as talented as FAU.

We've been ok at beating really bad teams since Al's been here. It's the good teams he can't do anything with.

Here comes his cousin.

So in other words, you have nothing to say in regards to you rooting against us and still considering yourself a fan ? Gotcha.

Honestly you're either

1)retarded
2)just joined the site and haven't read ANY OF THE POSTS I'VE MADE ON THE TOPIC OVER THE LAST TWO WEEKS

or

3) retarded

I've explained my stance on that topic numerous times. Try to act like an educated poster before you say the next stupid thing you're bound to say.

The words in bold that are from YOUR post is all I need to see. I don't need to go back and look at what you said and have no interest in doing so.. In this thread you stated "we were hoping that bad team would beat us" , you even put hoping in all caps to clarify. There's no debating that sir. You're pathetic

If you're next post says anything along the lines of you not liking Golden and the staff and that's your reasoning, I ain't tryna hear it. Disliking the head coach should never make a "fan" root against his own team

You can clearly see when I joined the site if you simply look on the left side of the page. Honestly, you're an idiot

And being as honest as I can be...you're a ******* moron. Go root for another team.

You got called out with proof of your own words. Just admit what you said and move on. Your rebuttals have not addressed anything you said but rather deflected away from it by trying to attck other poster.

The body slam. LOL. People around us were going nuts. Shades of OB days. To bad it was after the whistle & we got flagged. The players were laughing. Kamalu also had a sack.
Here's my elongated feelings.

Special Teams:

The special teams is awful. Top to bottom awful. Dorsett should not be on the return teams. I don't care how fast he is.

Defense:

The defense is better, I just don't know how much better. We stopped their option today when we needed to, but I think Arkansas State's lack of passing threat was pretty evident. Their QB is a glorified running back who makes Nick Marshall look like Dan Marino. As bad a passer he is, he still had his moments against our secondary. This is on the players more than coaches. Other than Dallas, nobody is consistent. A lot of them are in position and still don't make plays. Even Deon only had his moments due to package plays like his blitz. I would like to see more of that. He's clearly effective at it. Tackling is awful and that's on the players at this point. D'Onofrio called a good enough game for them to be in the right position to make plays and the team wasn't making them. Going into Game 4, I feel the jury is still out on how good they are but the coaching is still poor. People out of position, scrambling around, not knowing their assignments. After watching Nebraska against Fresno State, I think this will be the real test. Power running with an elite running back and QB who has a solid arm and is a complete enough passer. It'll be telling.

Offense:

Encouraged, but once again, the play calling sucked a bag of ***. Only difference was they at least opened the playbook up a little bit. Kaaya showed some real strides and multiple ways and I think every fan should be excited by that. However, Coley and his trick plays are brutal and will be a liability going into major play. O-Line looked better against weak competition, even with the overwhelming amount of penalties. Duke and the other running backs just do what they want. The wide receivers are balanced and compliment each other nicely and Dorsett had a game for the ages. Good for him coming back from injury. Berrios is Offensive Freshman of the Year thus far and Courtel Jenkins is his defensive counterpart. Walford is really starting to emerge.

Biggest Takeaways:

This team is one of the 20-15 most talented teams in the country. It's blatantly evident. Once again, I felt we got outcoached but our superior players just out athlete-d Arkansas State to death. The defense contained a innovative, but one dimensional offense and still found a way to give up too many passing yards. The offense put up big play points on an overmatched defense that didn't have athletes in the same league as ours, all while still enduring sub-par play calling. Bottom line is we got a comfortable win against a good/very good lower tier team. If that's what'll be done to win from here on out, so be it. That's what early Coker did anyway. After watching Nebraska, we should win. The talent and matchups are all there. Coaching needs to rise to the occasion. I don't want to drink the Kool-Aid or fall for another in tailpipe trick but we looked better this week than last week.

Game MVP=Phillip Dorsett.

Best Highlight=Kamalu's body slam of the Arkansas State QB, looking over him, and most importantly getting the flag. That was an Old School moment I was happy to see.

I don't think anyone is debating that as we all want this team to win against good teams and look good doing it.

What this post references is all the people who are openly rooting against our team, yourself included, by saying Ark. st. Is going to rip us a new *******.

When your pathetic wish doesn't come true, you then flip your argument to, Miami should have won this game why is everyone coming on here pounding their chest.

Your flip flopping argument does not detract from the fact that you want my team to lose to fit some sort of agenda you have. Furthermore, you straw man your argument to try and prove your dumb reasoning.

I want Al Golden gone as much as anyone. However, I want to see Miami win more and every time they step out into the field for that matter. The Al Golden situation will take care of itself with results, however, I won't root against my team just to justify my dislike for Golden.

The Dud, show me where I said Arkansas State was going to rip us up. Find that anywhere on this site, and I'll buy you a g-string and bra of your choice from Frederick of Hollywood. Until you find that you're nothing but a lying tw.at, and everyone should continue ignoring you like they have been. You're spreading lies like you spread your cheeks--wildly and with reckless abandon.

The OC showed some flashes of having a brilliant offensive mind, but also showed some dumb **** too... In spread backed up in you own endzone... Not running the ball with Gus and Chocolate once the game was under wraps. Instead we put Kayaa back in, leading to an INT & late score.

Still some improvements shown.

"[F]lashes of a brilliant offensive mind"? WTF?! You might want to look up the word "brilliant."

How do I feel about this team a day after a sloppy win over a sun belt team? The same way I've felt since 2003. This team has the talent but it lacks the coaches and leaders to put that talent in a position to succeed.

Stop running trick plays, Stop running stretch runs when you have an offensive line that is big and physical. Stop playing soft *** defense. I haven't seen anything from this coaching staff that makes me think that next weekend will be anything other than a blowout.

I'd really like a coherent response from the people openly rooting for losses 2 games into a season as to how they watch the games. Are they hypocrites in public and pretend like they're pulling for the Canes? Do they sit in their bedroom at their parent's house and actively cheer when the other team scores? Or do they not even watch the games in some sort of protest and instead opt for their typical afternoon endeavor of playing World of Warcraft for hours on end?

It shouldn't be a difficult concept for someone as smart as you think you are. First, you're viewing it as two games into a season. Some of us are viewing it as two games into THE FOURTH SEASON.

Let me break it down for you. We are fans of the program, not the HC. As fans of the program, we want what's best for the program. What's best for the program is losing the dead-from-the-neck-up HC Greaseball.

You lose Greaseball and win the war by losing a couple meaningless battles at this point. Some have come to the justified conclusion that we won't reach our goals this season by the way we got worked by a crap Louisville club. How do you expect to win the coastal when you're still getting blown out by crap ACC teams?

Were you one of those warriors who just wanted to keep it close with Louisville? Do you still feel uplifted by the close 18 point beating given what lowly UVA just did to Louisville? They manhandled that team like we should have.

The manner? I'm pretty calm at this point because I'm resigned to us going nowhere with Greaseball. He sapped the jitters and anxiety and all that fun fan stuff out of it because I can't get too invested when I'm sure of the eventual result.

As smart as you consider yourself you must realize that me hoping we lose in order to get rid of Greaseball has no more of an impact on the outcome than you hoping we win. Right?

back to the thread topic

I want coley to do this in big games
Use the middle of the field and have dorsett and coley take the top of the defense
have waters and lewis work underneath and seams. Utilize our TE the same way...

we need to build continue no trick plays... lots of 2 TE/4 WR set's mix of the vertical with the crossers.. Nebraska can be beat. I am not crowning Coley until he does it consistently against solid teams.

I'm not sure why you keep on trying to insinuate that I think I'm soooo smart or something. I was just wondering (without arguing about the rationale behind it) how someone actually watches games this early into a season of a team they're supposedly a fan of while simultaneously rooting for said team's failure. Like do you throw on a Canes shirt and roll down to your local Ale House or Flanigan's and pretend to be happy when we score but secretly pump your fist at your side when the other team scores? It's just baffling to my traditional sense of fandom and would probably get you ostracized at best and a beating at worst in most social circles.
