Soooo we good w/DJ Ivey starting against Bama?

It's amazing how some guys get the benefit of the doubt and we wait and see how they do with new coaching. Others, their names are dragged through the mud, rather than taking a wait and see approach with said new coaching.

Ivey, we'll see what happens. Everyone was said to have a chance, fresh start this year. If he blows up, great. If he sucks, then you should worry less about Ivey and more what's behind him.

A big , physical cb getting to play press man instead of big cushions or bail techniques? Suddenly he’s improved? Shocker.
One of the most frustrating things of bakers tenure. Press bail. Really hope we don’t see that as much. Especially with guys like Stevenson and Ivey. Situationally I get it. But I felt like it was our base at one point under baker

Really? To me Couch is the #1 next would be Tyrique? AB? But I will trust in T Rob, even tho the football gods clowning me

Vern, there’s no need to explain to these dudes, we all know Ivey isn’t good. Couch, TS, AB, Clark shied be the top 4

From Keyshawn:

Who has been the hardest corner for Smith to get behind on deep shots this fall camp? The speedy receiver highlighted fourth-year junior DJ Ivey.

“He is so long and tall, so it is hard to get around him some times,” Smith said.

I’m not in love with him starting, but similar to recruiting, I’m starting to trust TRob.

Im more concerned with Hall at safety if I’m being honest. He just doesn’t seem to make plays. I was really hoping Tae Williams was going to take reps from him.

All I need to see is Ivey get beat once or twice without him turning his head though and I’ll instantly be ready to move on. That is the area he needs to grow in to turn the corner and if he’s not doing it by now he never will.

Ivey has all the tools. He had two issues holding him back. He played too far off the line so was subject to getting juked by shiftier WRs, and he failed to recognize when the receiver was about ready to catch the ball so he could turn his head and make a play on it. Both of those are correctable if Manny allows more press and TRob is the coach we think he is. The kid may shock us all with a McGee type senior season or Michael Jackson type junior season, and end up playing very well for us.

Agree that Hall's lack of progression since his freshman year is concerning. He seems to be struggling when I thought he was going to be a breakout star by now.

I'm a believer in Ivey thanks to T-Rob. A lot of you do not realize how thin the margin can be between mediocrity and excellence. T-Rob is a fan of Iveys. The dude has the body type to press and cause problems for receivers at the line of scrimmage. Plus we saw him on the receiver's hips so many times, he just couldn't make the play, but that's something that can be coached.

And I'm saying this as someone who has been super frustrated with Ivey and especially with some of his jaw-droppingly bone headed mistakes.

We need a safety back there to make some picks. A guy teams are scared to go deep because we have a safety that will go up and get the ball. I'm hoping bolden can be that guy. Sounds like kitchen will be that eventually. Hall seems like his max potential is just a solid safety with little playmaking ability. We really need a playmaker to erase deep shots if our corner gets beat off the line. I do think ivey can be a corner who can shut down one side of the field if he's allowed to play press bump and run man. But he won't be a playmaker. The ball skills aren't there unless he improves. Tyrique or couch could be the ball hawking corners though

You’ve never even seen Stevenson perform on the outside. Nobody has. He’s gonna get his chance to do it here. If Ivey was picked on like TC was in the bowl your the type to call for him to transfer..y’all gotta quit picking and choosing. **** crazy😂.
