Artie Burns, Derrick Griffin, & Gus Edwards decommited from other schools and committed to us. Same with Yearby. We also had five or six players commit to us then decommit. It ain't over till signing day. Sony does he seem like the type to stay firm, but things change. We will see how this situation plays out. Rumph said its not necessarily going to be his final decision, no need for a meltdown.

The problem with Sony is that this is not like Stcey Coley and Donell Bennett. Sonys Fam is handling his recruitment, and UUALLY that's the best thing to do. Because with ome of these high school coaches, they'll push a kid to whichever school they may receive favors/money from, alumni of, or are friends with the staff. One example being with Alex Collins and coach gatewood last year. Everyone saw how that went down. One that went in UMs favor was Stacey and coach B. It's good to get ADVICE from a coach and/or other parents who have dealt with the recruiting process. BUT usually family is the best option. Sonys uncle, parents , etc.... are the ones who should probably be listened to. Not sure how much Input Rumph is having on the decision.

Bro you're pulling **** out of your ***

Rumph is new at American Heritage, so him and Sony dont have a long standing relationship

- Rumph isn't new at heritage, this is just going to be his first year as head coach
- Rumph coached Sony in both football and track, so they do have a good relationship. Not as good as I.e. Bennett & Coley but its good.
- Rumph knows what he's talking about, I never said Rumph was going to flip him, I just stated his opinion on the commitment seems to be correct. Saying you won't take visits in January 2014 in April 2013 doesn't really mean anything till you stay firm to your word.

correct, He coached the track team last year and was named head football coach in Dec.

Great dude too, met him last year and talked Canes football with him over some beers. The guy LOVES Golden, he couldnt stop talking about how we're gonna be back to where we were and how Golden is a lot like Butch. Gotta think he'll be in Sony's ear for the next 10 months....

Bro you're pulling **** out of your ***, he's going to pick UGA IMO but the information you're putting on this board is bull****.

Lol point out SPECIFICALLY WHICH PART?

"Sonys Fam is handling his commitment" if that was true, he would be picking UM today. I never said Rumph was going to flip him I just believe his opinion is right. People want to keep comparing Collins situation to Sony but they really aren't anything alike.

Please look at my post again. I said "recruitment". And I NEVER SAID HIS SIUTATION WAS THE SAME AS ALEX COLLINS. I SAID IT'S THE OPPOSITE. JUST LIKE I SAID SONYS SITUATION WITH HIS COAVH IS NOT LIKE STACEY AND COACH BENNETWhen you say "Fam" do you just mean parents or Other relatives as well. Like his "uncle, brother in law, etc.....

I meant to put recruitment my mistake. No need for caps lol we just talking. His family isn't forcing him anywhere, I mean parents, cousins, second uncles twice removed or whatever bull****. He's picking the school he feels most comfortable at

You really think Rumoh has hat much influence on Sony, he'll be able to sway his commitment? You had it right the first time.

Exactly, Rumph is a great guy loves his school. Rumph knows its a marathon and not a sprint, so he even if he picks UGA he knows things will change. I do believe he will get him look at all his options, not only to get him to Miami, but for Sony to make the best decision for himself.

Lol alright bruh. Alex Collins was comfortable at Arky too. Doesn't mean he didn't have HELP making that decision. When I ask the dude who works with Sony where he's going, and he gives me multiple reasons.....

You are going in circles with your argument. First you said it was his family handling his recruitment, then you said Sony has his reasons. The latter is true. I listed multiple reasons why Sony wanted to go to UGA via his teammates. & The type of help Sonys Fam and Collins coach gave each other are two different kinds of help. I'm done arguing, I don't even understand what point you're trying to convey

Ok.

I have no problem with a kid leaving if everything is on the up and up and everyone is on the same playing field. It's when some cheat, get paid, ect and never pay the price like we did, that ****es me off. SEC has been cheating for years but that's alright, I don't think so. NCAA is corrupt as ****.

Inexcusable for ****-soft fans to see their crush like someone else.

Keep calm and man up.

And don't whine and moan if he doesn't come

An excellent point. People act like we have been on a level playing field with the SEC in recruiting. Who are they kidding? WE have been under the NCAA gun for years now. Golden cant do anything except play it as tight and by the book as possible, while the SEC does whatever the **** it wants.

Golden is not in a fair fight on the recruiting trail. Apart from the fact that we have been mediocre for years now, we are out there recruiting with one hand tied behind our backs right now, and against the SEC.

Does NO ONE find it ironic that all the kids we are losing are going to SEC schools? Its not like Sony, and Dalvin, or Collins were going to Ohio State or Michigan or UNC.

There is only so much Golden can do here.

Boom, it's a corrupt and biased game Miami is forced to participate in. Which is why, regardless or length of time or getting time served, Miami needs to smash the NCAA for the big picture's sake.

Just read up on Mark Emmert, Cam Newton, Alabama dress suits, or the LSU education system. It's transparently corrupt.

Outside of breaking NCAA laws and finding a booster to pay kids (the end of us) there is NOTHING Golden can do here. Kid's family is up for getting paid. All we can do is do what we've been doing, and what we did yesterday. Just keep grinding and hope the family wakes up and does what's right.

Sony is a HUGE UM FAN and is caught in the middle of this somewhat.

PLEASE, I beg you, go easy on him. Its going to be a fight to the finish. Lets all not act like asses and make him think he made the right decision. Lets show him how great the fans are here, and keep reminding him that this is where he needs to be. Maybe he can work him family. STAY POSITIVE. DO NO HARM.

I really wonder what the Michels are up to, I know one thing UMASS will not let this go quietly check out this site with a page just for the Michel Brothers; it even has a count down clock. I think UGA may have to bow out on this or the NCAA will be forced into action by UMASS, who truly feel they where poached of a WR.

Reading a UMASS article from sept I get the impression Marken Michel doesn't like sitting on the bench. Yet that is what he will do for 2 years at UGA if there is truly is a package deal for him and Sonny. Marken had this to say in the Gazettenet.com article when he was hurt and sat out 3 weeks:

“It was real hard. Being in the dorms and seeing my team on TV, of course you’re excited for your teammates, but there’s a burn inside you to be out there helping your brothers, that’s what hurts the most,” said Michel, who suffered a shoulder injury in the second game of the season.

UMASS will also have a very strong case to bring to the NCAA showing Marken's departure will hurt the Team drastically for the 2013 season as layed out in the article from the Daily Collegian.
http://dailycollegian.com/2013/03/2...ing-playmaking-experience-in-skill-positions/

Unless this young man is under the impression he can play at an elite SEC school when he couldn't dominate the MAC. Maken's lone appearance against SEC competition was when UMASS played Vandy and Marken led all Minutemen receivers with 56 yards on six catches.

I think there is something else going at the Michel house, they may have under estimated the outcry the Minutemen would make over this. An UGA probably thought Marken would be smarter in leaving UMASS, after the semester. But I guess Marken figured I am outta here "Loser", and I am not gonna bust my *** in spring ball an risk getting hurt before I go to UGA. Well now the Jig is up and I bet money UGA is going to let Sony commit play along with everything as planned then last minute cut Marken loose with some BS story about the NCAA is sniffing around your deal. At which point Sony will go along in order not to loose eligibility.

I am hoping the Michel's are smart enough to see the writing on the wall of what is coming, an save the situation by Sony committing to UM and Marken returning to UMASS or FIU/FAU/UCF/USF.

Go Canes

Do you think fsu is making it rain and handing out favors as well?

Did Sony ever mention the sanctions as a concern? If so, I think come June this could be a whole new ballgame (crosses fingers).

Yup. And go ******* figure it's us that's getting the shaft from the NCAA. Not boo-hooing about it but fact is we already lost to the NCAA. They are simply looking stupid for butt****ing our corpses right now. We are still sitting here waiting to pick up the pieces, and the recruiting losses we have felt these last few years are just things you can't be compensated for.

Not sure if trolling or not? But hurricane glory said SOny is more comfortable at UGA. His family is not involved In the decision process.

Yeah well maybe they can hire the same attorney Collins' mom did.

Not trying to bash your post, but it just doesn't matter.

I don't know if this has been discussed before (very long thread). But if it turns out that UGA is offering a scholarship to Sony's brother to transfer from UMass, will this be a recruiting violation?
Can they say that his brother requested a transfer and they thought he was good enough to give him a scholarship and get away with it? Maybe UGA is relying on the fact that it is a small violation and the NCAA being too busy right now and will not pursue something as small as this?

In essence, they will be offering a benefit to a family member to entice a recruit to sign with them. But someone has to prove intent though.
