Someone Who Knows Things

All 3 of our WR's went undrafted, Damien Martinez went 7th round & Rivers went 5th round.

The highest drafted supporting cast for Cam was Arroyo.

Maybe to say Cam was a one-man show wasn't a stretch?
Cam’s offense went from 53rd in scoring at Wazzu to 1st by a mile at Miami. The running game went from 131st in yards per rush to 5th. And the 3rd Down offense went from 51st to 1st overall, five whole percentage points ahead of the second team.

Something changed in that one-man show from Pullman to Miami.
Cam is Mj…

Now Cam Ward was changing 90% of the place called in

TrumpyCane also heard he adjusted the run scheme as well and decided what the offense woukd eat for dinner every night
Baffling Hill to die on

Criticism is warranted but it's turning into "listen but really.... yall know Miami and Mario still sucks right? None of this counts."

Baffling

I’ve said it from the moment I joined this board…. This fanbase has forgotten what elite level talent looks like because we have one every few years.

Mario Cristobal needs teams littered with top 100 picks to make noise on a national level.

You don't think we made national noise last season? (before our defense blew it?)

We have enough. Markel Bell is a bonafide 1st rounder, Francis is going top 5, and Anez is a day 2 pick. JoJo has just as much talent as R Williams, J Smith, Wingo, etc and will have a big year. Fletcher has the talent to be similar to Etienne. CJ is better than Lovett and will be an early day 3 guy:rolleyes:
You forgot about Elijah Lofton

We lost 2 games in November where we were double digit favorites followed by a loss in the pop tart bowl. No we did not make any noise at the national level as losers of the pop tart bowl.

Much like our fanbase forgetting what elite level talent looks like we have also forgotten what being a true threat is…. We haven’t been one in 2 decades so it’s understandable

Depends where you set the bar. It's better being laughed at in November than October.

I feel like a broken record but this is another crucial stretch for Mario. Cam has been critical in ways going way beyond the field

Now Beck comes in and love him or not, he’s gonna bring a ton of attention with him. That’s great for us no matter your opinion on Mario. No one has really given a **** or paid attention to us in 20 years but they will be this year thanks to Cam and Beck

Things like that are a win win to me because either we succeed and we quickly reap the benefits, or we flop and everyone sees it and people that make choices start to ask the difficult questions

Nope.

We won 10 games last year, which has happened exactly 1 other time in the last 20 years. We were ranked #3 in the playoff rankings at one point (I think, someone fact check me).

But our head coach sucks and is a born loser. Every single player we had on the team, except cam, were losers. Well except the 6 other draft picks, those guys were semi-losers. We’ll stink out loud this year because they’re gone but we’ll also ***** incessantly that our program sucks because they were mostly Day 3 picks. We’ll suck next year because they won’t be here, but we sucked in 2024 because they were only Day 3 picks.

All the young kids suck. If we didn’t get a portal player with a round 1 NFL grade, that positional room sucks.

Did I mention our HC sucks? Lousy ********** only won 10 games.

OCTOBER RANKINGS BRO!!!

In all seriousness Mario has certainly Elevated the floor of the program and that is crucial. But to elevate the ceiling of this program which has been 9 or 10 wins for 20 years he needs a roster that emulates the top tier to overcome his clear deficiencies with the headset on and as a staff builder. Not the 8-15 tier. Top 7 and more than likely top 5 is what is needed. Clearly we didn’t have that last year with only two picks in the top 100.

That number needs to double. Maybe that happens this year but a tougher schedule will make the unachievable 11th win for this program even tougher

Fair. I don't think anyone who clamored for Mario to be hired did so thinking he'd be providing massive weekly schematic advantages. Just be a net-zero as a HC, and we'll be fine. IMO he was that last year, as far as on the field. I was very impressed with how he handled almost every decision last season, except the Syracuse field goal, which has been beaten to death and no longer needs to be discussed.

But who he surrounds himself with is just as important, if not more important, for him or almost any other coach who doesn't call plays. Dawson has been pretty **** good. The recruiting of all of the staff members, for the most part, has been pretty **** good. He's 0-2 on DCs, and that's on him. It's also on him (and his staff) for leaving that DB in the disastrous state it was in last year.

But back to your OP, I agree. The program is in MUCH better shape than he found it. But we want the moon in this fanbase, and I understand that. In order to get there, we need an even more talented roster than we've seen. For me, just for this year, I just want to win this league. Enough is enough, for ***** sake. And, IMO, the roster is good enough right now to do that. So, get it done. Miami is going to enter the season likely as the 2nd favorite to win the league. We're Miami fans, so we know how overranked this team has been forever, but you're +300 to win a P4 league. Go do it, please.

Mario and the staff were guilty of one thing last year, fielding the worst secondary in the history of UM football. We were on that path since the days of Mike Cheeks (Rumph). It appears this glaring deficiency has finally been remedied. We had an exciting year last year. This year could be better if JoJo, Fletcher, Jr., and Jordan Lyle all hit. If not, we need some skill talent to frighten someone, at least the ACC.
