Some names to watch before it’s deleted

Very interesting, I think Spavital position at Texas State is not very solid. I read his name in a couple of "Who's on the hot seat" articles this year.

I also think we should look at the salaries: IMHO it's impossible for someone to get a position demotion (especially from HC to OC) without a better salary. For example:
- Spavital makes 800k
- Montgomery makes 1.6 million
- Loeffler makes circa 500k
Montgomery making $1.6 million already likely takes him out of the mix

If it was any of those guys, wouldn’t he have been hired by now? It’s not like any of them are in the CFP or in the pros.

Logic would say the coordinators are in the CFP and/or the pros. Jmo

1) how hilarious would it be to hire Temples brand new head coach? They’d riot

2) as a Chattanooga native I would be ecstatic to hire Will Healy

It really doesn’t matter who we get, there’s gonna be a group of people that are going to hate it.
They'll puff up their chest and bang their keyboards....

Spavital is interesting and makes some sense. He's only 36 and young enough in his career where preemptively leaving a HC gig that he's 9-27 in for a high-profile OC job (and potentially tripling his salary) may be a better gameplan than sticking around for a 4th year and potentially getting fired halfway through the season. He probably saw what TVD just did for Lashlee's career and 2 years with our offense likely puts him on a better trajectory than he's on now.

Oh, and he was OC under Dana at WVU when Doug Belk was CB coach there...

Chip Kelly and UCLA look like they will be amicably parting on Jan 15 when buyout provisions become null and void on both sides. Just saying, Chip does the ocean and originally an East Coast guy. Also, Mario and Chip have a lot of mutual Oregon friends.

That mans power was god like.
I know man, he had it all to be the best ever but unfortunately after Cus died he lost the guidance and focus. I often wonder if Cus could have just lived five more years what could have been. He would have been kept away from that cancer Don king. And never would have fired Kevin Rooney as his trainer for those Don king cronie bums in his corner for the Douglas fight. What couldve been! Smh

Who knows? Things have been kept so tightly wrapped it’s hard to know what’s actually been going on.

Could be that Mario wasn’t able to make some of the other names work (Brady, Briles, etc) and has now moved on to the next tier of names.

I’d be surprised if a sitting Head coach at the G5 level takes a step down to be a OC here.

are we really waiting for seasons to be over or did mario just wait to announce the hires day by day leading up to the end of the dead period?

I know some people are gonna take this the wrong way but Enos left CMU for Arkansas when Bielema took over that job.

Honestly if we don't have an OC by Monday or Tuesday at this point, it's Dorsey. Literally no other explanation - college season has been done for over a week for all but two teams. Unless, we whiffed on someone and it's been under wraps. And even if it's Dorsey, not sure why we wouldn't announce it after the regular season is done - plenty of NFL assistants have already expressed interest and agreed to college deals (even on playoff teams, like the Chiefs) while finishing their tenures out in the pros. It's not like college football optics.

Which leads me to my ultimate fear - Mario is waiting on Dorsey to make a decision, and if it's the wrong decision, I hope he has a bonafide, surefire backup plan ready to go. But hey, this could all be basura...so we just have to wait and see - hopefully not too much longer. Dead period ends Jan 13, transfer portal is heating up...it's time to get a staff in place and finish recruiting strong after Saturday's mishap.

A young coach entering a season where he's going to be on the hot seat to take more money? Don't think it's surprising at all.

Loeffler makes some sense.

Has coached QBs. ACc/SEC/NFL experience.

7-22 record at BG, so might want to jump ship.
