Info is from a poster, don't know how reliable the info is, so as always, TIFWIW.

I will not reveal the source so don't ask.

Got word today from a source that neither Bond nor Kamalu will be in this class. Also, got an update on AQM. Here were the reasons given to me:

Bond: Apparently, he had to get some classes/credits in order this summer and failed to do so. The guy told me that he was very upset by this, as Bond was being penciled in as a significant contributor for this season by the coaching staff. Anyway, looks like he won't be coming here. Look for him to end up at some school with less stringent qualifying standards or another year in JUCO.

Kamalu: I was told that he would not be joining and would be heading elsewhere, but not for academic reasons. I was led to believe that there was a change of heart, as was reported earlier, and that despite our staff's best efforts, something else is pulling him away from Coral Gables. Also, the guy didn't seem overly disappointed about this loss.

AQM: There was some concern that he would be a non-qualifier, but those fears appear to have gone away and he is now going through the main NCAA Clearinghouse and will pass through OK. Expect him to report soon.

He also gave me a tidbit about Sony Michel: Mark Richt and UGA run a VERY CLEAN program recruiting wise. Meaning that Richt does not negative recruit. Also, their coaching staff does not offer $ to kids with poor families. My guy seemed to think that there was a legitimate change of heart and/or that a booster got involved in the $ arena unbeknownst to the UGA coaching staff. Apparently, Miami has tremendous respect for the UGA program and Richt, and they reciprocate that respect as much, if not more. Was apparently a crushing loss to our coaching staff, who'd been putting in the work for 5+ years (Shannon's staff too).

He also mentioned some info about the Booker T, Ice Harris, Matthew Thomas and Denver Kirkland incident, as well as Alex Collins. Here is what he told me about what happened with those two scenarios:

Kirkland: Was a silent commit to both Miami & FSU. Miami did not know that he was a silent to FSU as well until James Coley joined the Miami staff. After Coley joined and learned that Kirkland had silently pledged to Miami as well, he told Al and Barrow that he was silent to BOTH SCHOOLS. When Barrow heard this, he went, in person, to Booker T to talk to Kirkland. He said either you're silent to us, or to them, but not both ... Choose. Denver was wishy washy back and forth after being called on these shenanigans, and Barrow said WRONG ANSWER and pulled the offer. You all know what happened after that...rest was history. Neither FSU nor Miami wanted him, so Ice directed him to Arkansas.

Thomas: He had been a silent commit to Miami since FOREVER. Then, USC swooped in and got in his ear about LA and Matthew genuinely listened. Had a change of heart and really wanted to go to USC. He just decided that he wanted out of Miami, which is what his mother wanted for him all along (why she was a thorn in Miami's side). His mother wanted him at FSU. He decided to go to USC, Mother said NO. While this USC/FSU battle began within his house, He never told Miami of his change of heart and stayed a silent commit to UM. He ended up signing with FSU because his mother wouldn't sign USC papers. He ended up at FSU. HE NEVER TOLD MIAMI OF HIS CHANGED STATUS and that he was no longer a silent commit. Al & staff were furious with Ice over this.

Collins: Boy always liked Miami. His #2 school was Wisconsin. He had a rock solid relationship with their RB coach, Padgett or something like that. Anyway, Al and coaches stayed on his strong, every indication was that he was going to Miami with Wisconsin coming in as a close second. His mother was HUGELY in our corner, not wanting him out of state. When the RB coach went with Beliema to Arkansas, he listened. When Randy Shannon got in his ear about Arkansas too, where he would be coached by his favorite coach and being looked after by Randy, a "Miami" guy, it was too much to pass up and he wanted to go to Arkansas. He thought he was getting best of both worlds. His mother said NO, and we all know what happened with those LOI shenanigans. He had been silent to Miami for a long time until all this craziness started just before Signing Day.

Thanks as always for sharing the info... Lesson learned: ***** the silent commit crap. Either your in or out!

Trust me, this is a legit poster and with the NSD bull**** it all makes sense to how UM kept getting shocked by the recruits decision. Also makes sense that Arkansas came out of nowhere for Denver, how UM was confident for Thomas even a month after Coley came here and how the family and staff thought Collins committing to Arkansas was an upset so I believe it all

Ok I'll bite.... A follow-up that the guy posted

"For Griffin, we didn't discuss his status. He did commend Al for finding these eleventh hour kids. He didn't mention anything negative about Griffin while commending Al for his late recruiting, so that leads me to think that Griffin will be on his way here soon. I'll ask soon though for a clarification.

He did mention that we have some preferred walk-on formerly from Iowa or something who played HS at Pace with Stephen Morris who is coming in and not counting against our scholarships. Apparently a RB. My source DID NOT SEEM CONCERNED at all about our RB depth (quality & #'s) so that leads me to think that Eduardo Clements will be back full-go this season.

He also mentioned some new kicker coming in who will be a walk-on or just a late addition from some other school. Supposedly, Goudis wasn't getting it done well enough for comfort. Apparently this new guy is automatic from anything under 55 yards (outrageous claim, I know). We'll see about that one. I don't remember the particulars because it was discussed so briefly. Also, my guy was VERY HIGH on O'Donnell, the punter, and said that he'll fill in very well for us this year with no drop off in punting, if not an improvement. Supposedly, the guy is NFL ready and can really, really, really boot it. He also is big and fast and look for us to use him on Fake Punts as a "tuck it and go" option on 4th downs every now and then.

He DEFINITELY said that we're operating at 80 scholarships this year, thereby instituting a 5 scholarship reduction for this year to get ahead of some expected scholarship reductions. Apparently, Donna/James/AG et al expect around 3 scholarships for 3 years (9 total) and 3 years probation, no more. He did mention that there may be some more transfers out of our program, but he didn't know whom. Right after he said that, I mentioned David Perry, and he rolled his eyes and said "oh yea, that guy. He's a # and will probably be gone."

I don't know how much of this is true and/or is just opinion, but he was absolutely adamant about operating at 80 scholarships this year and using preferred walk-on status to fill holes with quality guys fighting for spots."

actually makes sense. One thing is clear, we can't trust getting anyone out of BTW until we see the ink on the paper. I would not hold a spot for any of them until one then. Luke runs his mouth but doesn't seem to actually push kids away. Ice has serious cred problem at this point. If young kids start thinking they have no shot at an offer from THE U if they go to BTW, they will not have "studs" for long. These HS kids seem to be able to go where they want. If Ice can't deliver his son and or Thomas this year, I say the staff puts the word out that BTW players are persona non grata.

And thus, I will never get mad at our coaching staff when it comes to South Florida. They ain't perfect, but no one can be when it comes to bull**** like this.

Well if I had to pick one of Bond, Kamalu, or AQM to qualify it would be AQM.....

If this is all true, then SFL recruiting is more f*cked up and Ice is a bigger b*tch than I thought...

I had heard from folks that would know most of what was posted. EXCEPT for the Thomas fiasco. My *guess* is that Coley confirmed that he had not committed to FSU, so we *assumed* he was coming. This is the first time I have heard anyone say that he was a silent.

**** I really want all those guys to qualify, don't know if any of its true, but I personally found the **** on Thomas, Kirk, and Collins extremely entertaining, thanks as always killa

To be honest I could have posted the same thing and my only inside source is ThreadKillas 247 updates.

I'm bummed about Bond though. We need help there so bad and I'm a believer with that dude. I realize nothing is set in stone but I haven't felt good about him getting in for a while now.

The Thomas thing is new but I don't believe he was a silent to Miami, AT ALL

Thomas to me makes sense because of the signs we saw for months that had us confident, so unless he's a ***** *** liar then he really was into UM for a while
