Some game thoughts- "Peaceful Easy Feeling"

View as article
For the first time in many years, we brought menfolk to the game. We know have a D to pack for road games and that is a very good thing. Love that Al was able to protect our young players and did not habe to feed them to the wolves. Not even Fig was asked to do that much.

It is truely a peaceful easy feeling to know that on the sideline were big time players like Burns, Carter, Grace, Fig, and Coley who are growing and learning without getting the hide beat off of them by full grown men. I did not see Bush in the game, did he get in or did we kick the scales off the gator hide without even him? In 2008, our young pups played the best game of probably their career against the gator and lost. This team did not peak Saturday. It has so much more growth in it that it is scary to think about what might be. Scary that is for the rest of college football.

Watching the gator was a timeout on a punt play, get illegal motion and repeated holding calls reminded me and then stand around while the clock ran down at the end, reminded me of Randy's teams. Then I realized that the gator is toast. They are busy blaming a QB when the problem is endemic within the program. Hope they never find a Golden to fix it.

By the way, already heard a couple noles I know pick up the gator talking points about how we didn't win. They already know what is coming in November. I can hear the chop chant in my ears already and can seen the fear in their faces as well. Can you here it coming in the air of night?

I was not overly impressed with the gaytors defense at the least! Our offense lacks consistency in both our ability to run and pass. We have to be able to have sustained drives! We can't be a big play or bust offense. With our defense being better- they will be a little bit better if they can rest more. The O-line has to do a better job run blocking by lowering their pad levels. They play too upright. They need to give Morris another second and he needs to be a more consistent passer! The backs have to be used in the passing game to open up some passing lanes for the WR's. Throw in some rub routes and TE delays. Speed up the tempo. We play to slow. Stop having them look to the side line, be honest what amazing adjustment can the coach do from the sideline in 2 seconds? Call the play and teach the QB to make the adjustment at the line! Thats what pro style Offensive Coordinators do and its your job to be able to do that. Its a cop out when they say they don't want to put too much on his plate. No its not! The real deal is that while anybody can draw up plays, not all can read defenses themselves to be able to teach the kids. We used to have coaches who could.

Still celebrating our victory and will all season, but we can always get better.

One thing about Cornelius is he knows how to play the option. He played the one and only gator option play to perfection which caused a TFL. He will be big for us against the bugs.

Textbook defense on that play.. (and it looked like it could have been open)

Regardless of our offensive inefficiencies, that UF defense is outstanding. There are not many defenses in the country better.

-Rayshawn Jenkins is starting to turn the talent he flashed last season into production.

-Is Armbrister going to go down as the first in a long line of Al Golden finds (à la Marcus Wilkerson at Temple)?

-We are watching a group of mostly moderately talented players getting the best tickled out of them by our staff. What happens when the guys they´re doing this with have elite talent?

Almost forgot about that play. That was a thing of beauty.

And a textbook pass deflection a little later.

Again, we are watching the kids who have moderate talent but buy into the program start to reach their potential. When that starts happening with the Olsens, Chad Thomas´ and AQMs, watch out.

One thing I have noticed, about half way through the flash forward, is the LBs played down hill and made many plays behind the LOS.

Armbrister seems to have taken that step and I hope to see him to continue to improve, especially with another year to play.

Also, on the Jenkins INT, visions of Mo Sikes flashed through my mind.

Armbrister is a sophomore, so two more years. Which is extremely exciting.

No he's a Junior

Florida's defense is a beast, they have three legit animals on the Dline that are going to the NFL really soon. Coleys playcalling was just amazing at the start of the game and got us in a good enough position to ***** up Floridas gameplan.

Thought so too. The UM roster has him listed as a sophomore. I know he played special teams as a freshman. His bio says he didn't participate at all.

Sophomore according to the site. Just don't tell the NCAA and we won't have no problems, aight?

They said during the game he was a sophomore as well.

Maybe my "B" in logic was not legit. Our Defense gives up 6 vs. FAU and 16 Vs. the gayters and its the gayters defense thats all the rage. If we are to base our opinions off results then their defense has not performed as well as the Canes Defense thus far. We are a institution rebuilding, handcuffed by NCAA, lacking full recruiting classes, by passed by many of the better players and lack depth across the board on our Defense....and its the gaytors defense that's a Beast? Did I miss something? A patch work defense out performs them and their defense is what you see as a Beast. NOT IN THEIR BEST DAYS! ***** THE GAYTORS AND THEIR AVERAGE DEFENSE! ITS ALL ABOUT THE U!
