Some encouraging performances

Mike Smiff is a straight pass rusher, a natural. He needs to get up to 250 and put that hand in the dirt. He should be a third down specialist

Marcus Robinson who played for Shannon is who he reminds me of. In the year he came out he and Trent Harris were considered two of the elite pass rushers in Florida

That's a fair comparison with MR. I'm not sure how I feel about Trent, every time I watched him on pass downs he got no pressure.

I'm starting to think he's just not that good of an athlete , more a motor guy. Which is fine, I just never thought he had a high ceiling

Al Golden special. Will be pushed to the back once Kool gets his hands on our studs.

SOme of ya'll need to relax with Chad Thomas.

IN HS he didn't even elite pash rushing moves, he was just quick and scrawny and got by on that. he's really raw.

he is really similar to justin tuck, can move in on the inside and is very versatile, but he's not some sack artist.

I think DJax is going to blow up under the new DL coach.

If he can stay healthy I think Berrios will dominate under Richts, crossing route system. As will Bruce. The Patriots do it with two smaller guys. Its where Kaaya is best anyway middle of the field, underneath.

I also think, if Courtel Jenkins can put it together, he will also dominate with an upfield style of line play.

I see a stud in Redwine as well. Kid is big as a freshman. He could be great. I also think it is only a matter of this one offseason and JJ will take over this defense.

I wish Bush was always used as a FS. He reads plays well. But we needed him at SS because, well we don't have one otherwise and Carter has just not panned out like we thought. But Bush is the best FS on the team and that is where he will make his money at the next level. I would love to see him go to the Patriots at some point. They do a great job developing safeties.

Bush was at fs for 4 years. Jenkins and crawford has been playing ss this year.

All I know is he played much better after Jenkins came out of the game. And Jenkins is always up top, pretty sure that is where the FS plays..... But I am not really interested in arguing over little crap. I think he is a better FS than SS. And IMO he was playing closer to the box like a SS does. And it is not his best place, he is a solid tackler, but he plays well in space and breaks on the ball well.

Tyriq McCord played real well, he was criminally misused by this staff. He should have been developed into a 3rd down pass rushing demon

Not arguing. Bush comes down when jenkins is in the game because jenkins is not a good tackler and isnot good in run support. When crawford is in bush plays more deep safety because crawford is slow and can't cover.

He is a fs but plays both roles depending on who is in with him.

I hear you. My point was that he is better in the back. He is a playmaker there. I'd be willing to bet most of his best plays have come from that position. And as unfortunate as it sounds, that makes sense even for our ****** DC. He is actually putting the best guys in the best positions. However, it didn't happen until Crawford got smoked about ten times in a game...... ahh I will not miss this defensive staph, well I won't miss any of them to be honest....lol

Until the OL is completely revamped (likely over next 3 seasons), we are still in for tons of disappointment.

The DL appears to be headed in the right direction, however the OL will continue to costs the program wins in both small and big games.

It was that unit [OL] that cost the Sun Bowl win. Plain and simple.

McDermott needs to get in shape. He looks like a slob out there, and he moves like a fcking sloth. They need to get that dude tightened up. He came in with massive hype and just looks awful. He's been good for one kill shot on Kaaya every game.

A lot of NFL guys have a gut, but KC has that "I stopped giving a f---" gut going on right now and it's a terrible look. Had such high hopes for him but his lack of success is a huge reason we struggled this year.

I've always thought McDermott was a guard and he looked good there, IMO. The problem is we only have two tackles, neither is a LT and Odogwu has a bad knee. We desperately need St. Louis to step up.

I won't get into the coaching because we're on to Coach Richt. But it was nice to see some young players take advantage of the extra practices and build some momentum heading into next year:

Demetrius Jackson got some extended burn yesterday and picked up a sack. He is one of our most gifted defenders at 6'5, 250 pounds running a 4.7. It was also pretty cool to see that he donated his bowl money to a children's hospital. You know Richt loved hearing that. This is a guy who could explode under our new DL coach.

Braxton Berrios made two critical plays to set up a comeback and showed the burst that's been missing this year. I think the injury in the opener really set him back. He looked extremely quick in camp and was embarrassing some of our top corners before the injury. He could play a big role next year as a slot receiver.

Mike Smith got playing time and was able to force a fumble. He was one of the best players in the state before blowing out his knee, so it was nice to see him playing meaningful snaps again. He was miscast as linebacker and can play a Michael Sam-type role for the next defensive staff.

Sheldrick Redwine has been a force all year on special teams and saw some crunch time snaps on defense. He has sky-high potential and should replace Artie Burns on the boundary.

To me, Redwine looks way too slow to excel at CB.

I think Milo will surprise a lot of people and end up being at one of the T spots before it's all said and done. In that video someone posted earlier in the thread with the one-on-ones, the only guy who really beat him was 5* Keisean Lucier-South who redshirted at UCLA this season...and that guy is a freak pass rushing specialist who could be a national name next season.

Milo's arms may not be the length you look for at LT, but his strength is enough to make up for it. If he's improved his footwork and technique any at all, he's good enough in pass pro to be considered for either T spot. The two things that Milo really needs to work on in pass pro are anchoring his base once he gets his hands on the rusher, and not biting on inside-out fakes on the rush.

I personally think that it can't be discounted that Milo was Kaaya's LT in HS. Kaaya having confidence in Milo protecting his blindside will help him play better, and Milo holding himself up to that standard as Kaaya's blindside protector is extra motivation for him to play better. I know that sounds like rah-rah bullsh1t, but I think there's something to it.

Unless we nab an OT who can step in right away late in the recruiting cycle (HIGHLY unlikely), Milo has to at least be in the conversation with KC/Darling/Jahair/St Louis/Loftus at the T spots.

Keep in mind too, next season - Sunny will be a RS JR. So, hopefully, he will come back healthy from injury for Spring, continue working and getting better/different coaching from the next OL coach since Kehoe's gone...maybe take a big leap forward and solidify that LT spot...hopefully making all of this LT talk moot, at least for next year.

Is Dobard going to workout this off season or put another 20lbs on and move to guard?

The guy needs to seriously attack this off season. He looked bloated, slow and nonathletic this year. He really needs to lean out and get faster. I think he has a future if he can stay in shape and dedicate himself.

In fairness, the two things you say he needs to work on are the most important things for a T to be good at. You can't over set and get beat on the inside move because it's the quickest route to the QB when you're at T. You work inside-out. T's who have to cheat to get out quick enough are G's. That's what's happening when you're getting beat inside; you're trying to compensate for foot quickness to get outside.

The other is his anchor. That's kind of important in pass rush because if you just get walked back to the QB on every rush you're not a T either. Or a G for that matter.

Probably why uif passed on him in their own backyard

He might actually have a good chance of sticking in the league.. I watched the game twice.. I hope he at less gets a senior bowl invite so we can see what he does with real coaching for a week.
