So does Mario realize he's lost the fanbase?

"Ignore The Noise" is Mario's motto so I would say he's completely unaware
That’s almost every coach’s motto to be fair. Al Golden had it painted/posted all around Hect. Those exact words. Basically saying don’t pay attention to criticism from fans and the media.

I think he hears the noise. I also think he hates to fail and he knows that this season is a failure.... He won't say that but his demeanor tells you that. I also think he saw and heard the noise from those former Miami players /coaches. Lashlee certainly didn't care... I've seen some of the parents of those kids posting stuff too..
Is this season really a failure? I’m not quite getting it. Let’s play the unlikely scenario that we finish 10-2. I know I know it’s probably not gonna happen but let’s just pretend we finish 10-2. Why aren’t we in the conversation for an at-large bid with no ACCCG appearance? It’s probably 30% at that point but it all depends on how the dominoes fall. Last year we were 10-2 and missed the playoff by 1-2 spots because our win quality was ****. That’s not really the case this year. The fact the AP has us at #18 tells me they’re not overlooking those early season wins.

We won't be in the conversation because the committee will have watched our games

We are probably in at 10-2 but you think we really go 10-2?

We'll probably lose 2 more, atleast, maybe 3. NC State, Virginia Tech, and Pitt are good enough to beat us, we'd have to completely melt down for Syracuse to beat us.

Yep scott, Bain and Demari were all gone last year per CIS
Same recycle BS again
This feels just like last year to you.We were all still hopeful after last season, that is gone now and the season is not done,we can still lose 1 to 3 games including the bowl game.Mario has lost the majority of the fan base, the local and national media is making fun of him.He will need our money people to spend a lot more this off season just to field a similar team next season.

National media has always had it out for Mario nothing new.

If this ignorant fanbase is out on Mario then I am not sure what to say.

Hopefully he retires at the end of the season, and you all get what you want. The way this fanbase acts it deseves 6-7 win seasons and getting owned by rivals.

I don’t think Mario cares what the fans think as far as how he should do his job. He cares about the results on the field, and if he’s unhappy with losing, he knows the fans are unhappy with losing.

The team could rebound and win three of the next four games, not make the playoffs, but finish strong with a bowl game win.

Mario would still be unhappy.

Despite what some people think and my own criticisms of him I do not believe he is happy with just winning. It beats losing, but he does want to dominate opponents. He was ****ed off at the fourth quarter of the FSU game. He wanted to grind FSU into the dirt and win by 40. He remembers FSU winning 45-3 in year one, going for points late in the game. I believe he holds grudges.

The problem is the way he wants to dominate. As @k9cane pointed out, Mario is condensing rather than extending the game and not taking advantage of his team’s athletic superiority. He needs to give his team more opportunities to score rather than squeeze the ball and hope not to make a mistake.

I’d make an analogy about a slow heavyweight boxer who only has one or two punches, but I don’t know enough about the sport.

@k9cane?

Well when the stadium starts being empty im sure he’ll care
The stadium is half full when Miami is undefeated after beating rivals. Your point? Mario is intelligent enough to know our fanbase is toxic and frontrunning as ****….
The odds of hiring a better coach are much higher than hiring someone worse. The main issue is the supposed lack of NIL support of Mario leaves.
And THIS is the problem. Every fanbase, even those with a solid, but not elite coach thinks that there's an upgrade available, and easily obtainable. Do you realize how many 9-3/10-2 coaches out there, compared to the truly elite?

Brian Kelly
James Franklin
Josh Heupel
Hugh Freeze

All are very solid, and in some cases, have been consistently winning ten games for years. They are all either unemployed as of today, or in the case of Heupel, is starting to feel the heat, despite winning at a high level. Winning the CFP last year saved Ryan Day from being fired, and that dude has a career winning percentage of EIGHTY EIGHT PERCENT.

It's amazing how disconnected fans are from reality. If Miami were to fire Mario tomorrow, and bring in James Franklin, would things significantly improve? Historically, Franklin wins the games he's supposed to, while losing the coinflips. In other words, get ready to lose games against FSU and Florida(or anyone else with good talent), while beating everyone else. Would you be happy with 10-2, with the two losses usually happening in the games you are most excited about?

There's a difference between firing someone you know lacks the ability to do what you need done(Al Golden, Randy Shannon, Larry Coker), and firing a solid coach that has delivered at a high level before, and is consistently delivering a roster that is capable of getting to the CFP. Learn from the mistakes of other programs, programs like Nebraska and Tennessee. Nebraska fired Solich, wandered the desert for decades afterwards. Tennessee ran Fulmer out of town, stunk until Heupel showed up, and they are repeating the process..

Of course he hears the noise and it bothers him. There are very few who can totally block it out. But to do that job you’ve got to be able to do your best to set that aside and focus on what you can control.

But asked fans to show for games, im sure to a certain degree, he most definitely care what fans think
He absolutely does….or should if he’s smart enough. Who here honestly believes Mario gets another shot at a top tier gig if he flames out at Miami.

This very well may be his last legitimate chance to ever win a NC. He absolutely should care about losing the fan base because we all know where that road leads

If they finished 10-2 (a BIG if) for all we know they could be in the ACCCG. These teams aren't done cannibalizing each other yet.

After miami he will coaching OLs for the rest of his career.

How insulated is he? Does he ignore all the outside stuff and is he oblivious? Dawson certainly knew everyone was ****ed about the constant up the gut runs so they have to hear things. Will Mario address this specifically?
Dawson clearly reads canesinsight.com

What’s crazy is we have the 14th best odds on DK right now to make the playoff.

Only 6 teams are minus money.

Now, if you want to tell me we won’t go 10-2, I won’t fight you. Miami teams have quit for years and years, long before Mario. And long before they were being paid a **** load of money, which is almost entirely front loaded. I’ll sit back and watch the rest of the year. I know we’ll beat Syracuse. Other than that, nothing would surprise me.
