Well when the stadium starts being empty im sure he’ll care
The stadium is half full when Miami is undefeated after beating rivals. Your point? Mario is intelligent enough to know our fanbase is toxic and frontrunning as ****….
The odds of hiring a better coach are much higher than hiring someone worse. The main issue is the supposed lack of NIL support of Mario leaves.
And THIS is the problem. Every fanbase, even those with a solid, but not elite coach thinks that there's an upgrade available, and easily obtainable. Do you realize how many 9-3/10-2 coaches out there, compared to the truly elite?
Brian Kelly
James Franklin
Josh Heupel
Hugh Freeze
All are very solid, and in some cases, have been consistently winning ten games for years. They are all either unemployed as of today, or in the case of Heupel, is starting to feel the heat, despite winning at a high level. Winning the CFP last year saved Ryan Day from being fired, and that dude has a career winning percentage of EIGHTY EIGHT PERCENT.
It's amazing how disconnected fans are from reality. If Miami were to fire Mario tomorrow, and bring in James Franklin, would things significantly improve? Historically, Franklin wins the games he's supposed to, while losing the coinflips. In other words, get ready to lose games against FSU and Florida(or anyone else with good talent), while beating everyone else. Would you be happy with 10-2, with the two losses usually happening in the games you are most excited about?
There's a difference between firing someone you know lacks the ability to do what you need done(Al Golden, Randy Shannon, Larry Coker), and firing a solid coach that has delivered at a high level before, and is consistently delivering a roster that is capable of getting to the CFP. Learn from the mistakes of other programs, programs like Nebraska and Tennessee. Nebraska fired Solich, wandered the desert for decades afterwards. Tennessee ran Fulmer out of town, stunk until Heupel showed up, and they are repeating the process..
