Simpson & Rumph

Don't disagree at all but I do think the more success/exposure he has, the more respect he will get. Keep putting guys in the league, keep having top defenses, win a little more.. He will be able to land some of these borderline kids IMO.

I'd tend to/hope to agree with this. The perception of Rumph should soon be a guy that develops his players and gets them to the League and no longer the guy that used to be at American Heritage that thought he had stronger relationships with moms, dads, uncles and handlers than he actually did.

Results HAVE to matter at some point- even in a bag filled cesspool. I made the Kewl comparison but it's not completely accurate because I think that guy is a lazy recruiter that has had and always will have his eye on ANY NFL opening.

Legit OC
Real DC
New S&C
Entire offense fired

Yep he's about to check all of the boxes

Does Manny read CIS?

Not just that but basically all of his misses were either Bama is a monster or something crazy but he was in the top 2 for what 10 dlineman? He makes impact
If you finish second or 52nd when recruiting a guy what is the difference?

Look at who we got in 2018. Man, it's not like we struck out at DB, we just got caught up in the Surtain, TC, Jobe drama.

Agreed. None of know if Rumph is a good or bad recruiter. We ASSUME he's not good b/c of misses( Surtain, Campbell, etc) and that's fair, BUT athe flip side is we fail to take into account that maybe losing a DB to Bama( Saban started as a DB coach) and Georgia( played fro Natty) does not translate to bad recruiting,

I will go with the premise that Manny is NOT a fool and chose, for valid reasons, to keep Rumph. Who knows better than Diaz as to how good or bad Rumph is as a DB coach?

Pretty sure he’s waiting on Fran , if he gets hc job at temple

If by recruiting y'all mean Rumph doesn't pucker up and kiss snotty nosed, 18 Y/O kids a$$es hard enough, then I'm sure Rumph would gladly accept that shortcoming...so would I.

If that is what it takes to do better than 10% close rate on recruits then he better go out and buy him some lip gloss.
Rumph is so bad at closing I'd bet against him getting laid at a Tijuana Whorehouse.

I'm just glad Simpson wasn't collateral damage. Seems like a good dude and his performance certainly earned him the right to stay.
100% agree.... Dude has serious knowledge... Yes it's mostly high school but **** was he good at it.... Was happy when we got him and happier now knowing he's staying....

His primary job is to put effective, fast, smart DB's and he's done that. To all fair minded people, that's not really debatable.

This has been said a million times and I'll keep saying it - if you win it, they will come. It's a fact. We win 10-11 games next year and we WILL clean up!

Bingo.

These kids today, for the most part, care more than they did before about their CAREER in football than they do tradition, etc. The grow up being told they will one day play in the League, etc. We have been recruiting with a mediocre 15 year record in our back pocket. FIFTEEN years!

So the Surtains of the world grow up early understanding its a business decision. Why go to a middling Acc Coastal team when they can go to a school where they will win big, play in big games and start early?

The real wonder is how we have been able to land even some big names the past 4-5 years.

He said all 4 have the potential to run their own defence one day and he was planning on making one more hire on D. sounds to me like a DC will be hired
It's his job, dimwit.
His job is to coach, not change baby diapers so they smile. Why is no one talking about taking a Golden scrub in MJ and turning him into an NFL prospect? THAT is what he is paid to do.

Hopefully, Manny will hold his staff accountable, unlike Richt.

A renewed energy with the new cartel should help.
Hopefully???? He just fired the ENTIRE offensive staff.... That's pretty accountable....lol

Really hope he locks down Fedora and a good staff but thus far, outside of rhetoric, I just don’t see it yet. So he fired the whole offensive staff, that’s not impressive, that was easy and beyond necessary. Keeping Simpson and Rumph is concerning. At least it appears he will hire a DC instead of the co DC disaster.

Was thinking the same thing. U think its as a position coach or DC? He's on the crackhead fast track. From position coach, to Temple DC to Temple HC or DC at Miami in just a few days time. And here we all thought Patke moved up fast.

how far do manny and fran go back?

would fran be willin to run manny's defense?

I would rather have patke and banda run Manny's defense (they've been in it for 5 years) then someone come in and change the scheme up at all

He hinted about waiting for candidates to "become available"... is there a candidate still in play right now we're eyeing?
