Bring back Barrow as ILB coach. Adds a dynamite recruiter to the defensive room and helps Patke who is still pretty green.

I think Manny ends up promoting Banda to DC/safeties coach.

I really just don’t understand all the Rumph hate. Every staff needs a balance of great recruiters mixed with great teachers. Rumph is very good at teaching technique and has had our corners playing at an effective level for us to be great on defense, isn’t this what he supposed to do at his craft. Too many people on this board are just star hoars and think that you can just recruit players and they will teach themselves I guess. Smh

You have all the big programs coming down and trying to get those guys. Diaz is going to have to figure out a way to start getting those guys.

I agree, people got to start keeping that in mind. They just dismiss it as oh you suck you missed on this and that guy but completely dismiss the fact that other elite programs are throwing bags at the position as it is coveted
 
The thing about Rumph is hopefully he’ll have guys performing in the league soon.

Up until now, he hasn’t been a coach long enough to prove he can get guys to the next level. The longer he is here, the better he will get recruiting, in my opinion. He’ll have something to sell.

Simpson is a great keep. Great technique coach with a big view of the game . . . understands kids' minds, too . . .
 
Let's please get something straight here. Both Banda and Rumph are pretty bad recruiters. Let's take a look at the whiffs:

My point is of course we missed on a lot but the cupboard is far from bare...
 
The fix is pretty simple.. Quit letting Rumph be the lead recruiter on top targets. Just because he coaches that position doesn't mean he needs to be the lead recruiter for that position. He lost Tyson Campbell to James Coley who does not coach Dbs or even defense for that matter.

Yes, we whiffed on a lot more than we gained, EVERY 5 star and I'm not including a lot of the 2016 guys like Byrd etc he whiffed on as well. It got so bad at one point we had to go get Junior College guys like Delaney, which should never happen at Miami. We sit on the DB mecca of the U.S.

depends who his other coaching hire is. also banda recruits safeties as his position. and last years db class of blades/freierson/bethel/ivey/ and couch this year all look like studs. and u need guys who can just flat out coach on your staff not everyone will be great recruiters that why u need great recruiters on staff like a james coley

This is a strategy that should be considered but let’s not think that it will get us every recruit.
The reality is that we will still miss out on some guys like Campbell unless extra benefits are in play.

We seem to forget about this when talking about recruiting and Rumph, but they played an factor in some of his targeted recruits.

also he gets blastes cause of not sending heritage guys to play for golden I wouldn't of either by the way, and not getting them now well golden and Shannon burnt that bridge they would offer 2 stars to get numbers then 2 days prior to signing day when got better guys pull it l eaving the player in cold and coaches got sick of it lets not forget that golden/Shannon did some ****** things when recruiting to **** of local coaches
