Sideline social distancing...

I'm personally the type of individual that really has to restrain themselves from not punching your run of the mill cretin in the throat at Publix when they pull their mask down as soon as they get by the dude at the front door or walk around with their greasy nose completely exposed the whole time....

....but this sideline stuff in college and the NFL and even the NBA is purely useless optics and theater. If any of these athletes/coaches are going to be infected by each other then it'll come during the 10000 other times they're around each other and maskless.

If we're going to be concerned about anything specific to these college teams then it should just be that they're making all the right decisions when on campus around the germ addled hoi polloi.
That punch would make you more likely to contract the virus than walking past someone in Publix. We didn't have a problem in FL until people started gathering for extended periods in late June/July.

Karma can be a b*(*h. These restrictions definitely are a pain in the a$$, but if they help keep Miami from going into a game like VT did last night with 23 players and 4 coaches scratched then err on the side of caution.

did that game still get played? other teams have 2 players go positive and they "postpone" the whole thing.....

Memorial Day weekend and on.

As far as the punch, I'm willing to take that calculated risk. Gotta still live some semblance of a normal life! Not to mention that the thirst for violence isn't necessarily rooted in fear for my own health but more just an anger based upon the number of seniors that I see that basically have no option but to go to Publix, etc.

But this is a discussion that has already been waged a bazillion times around here. I only prefaced with it to emphasize the point of the theatrics of the sideline masks.

My favorite was during the previous game when they showed 2 Louisville players chatting until they noticed they were on camera, then they pulled up their masks.

Wait, you're not that guy who yells at random people in parking lots, are you?

Great win and I hope we're ok but I saw this all night long...Little policing of social distancing on the sidelines. Players yelling and screaming while close to each other.

The coaches are wearing masks. Would hate to lose anyone by being sloppy. Lots of teams are losing players and we already lost a receiver for a week or two.

I guess being outdoors will help. But anyone know the policy?
You do realise they're sharing a bus / locker room / huddle / tackles together, right?

It's the external social distancing you need to worry about.

Definitely an issue with the sideline behavior. It's not like they play a contact sport without masks.

Last year whining about dancing on sidelines. This year about not wearing masks. Must say have seen no complaints about the dancing after these ffirst 3 games

Haha. I always appreciate the live shots of Pat Riley sitting alone at Heat games in the Bubble wearing a mask upside down.

Nah, I'm not that guy. I prefer as minimal interaction short of physical violence with the unwashed masses as possible.

This is the comedy I find with people obsessed with the optics of Covid. Wear your mask! Distance! Do t be see. Without your mask!

all players on both teams tested negative before the game, and were held within a closed environment for the duration of the event.

besides a potential act of god 0.0001% transfer I highly doubt any of them will get Covid during a game, even if they decided to have a giant ******* orgy on the sidelines. For Christ sake.
It is mind blowing how ignorant people are here about the virus. Getting sick from the virus is not the problem it is dying from the virus, aka just like the flu. They tested 550 schools in 49 state do you know how many young people from age 0 to 21 have died from the virus ,,, .0017 or 99.983. Again 40 t0 60 thousand people die every year from the Flu.. nobody cares. Enough said. By the way , 65 percent of deaths were in the first 5 months. The mortality rate has gone down by 85 percent with the increase chievement in drugs.

sorry 99.983 have survive the virus

I’m glad someone finally brought this up.

my recommendation is subbing all 11 players after every play and having them dip their hands in a vat of hand sanitizer after every play. It’s all fun and games until the bodies start stacking up.
