SIAP (Scrimmage Tonight?)

So because our starting QB who’s been in college fball since the beginning of time throws 60% in each scripted scrimmage our defense is in peril?? Please begin to address the whole post cause this comment didn’t do it…

Ok but do you at least acknowledge that underneath coverage has been an issue with Manny's defense? I mean the evidence of average QB'S carving us up underneath is there...can't really deny it. So why is it unreasonable for someone to be concerned when they see a consistent stat line from our scrimmages that suggest it is still an issue.

For Manny's style of defense, scrimmages don't play to the defense's advantage. His defense is predicated on getting to the quarterback and hitting him, causing havoc in the backfield. You can't do that in scrimmages, AND they don't blow these plays dead very aggressively in scrimmages when the QB would have otherwise been hit and sacked. Freaking out about scrimmages is just plain dumb. The only thing that matters about scrimmages is that we come out with no injuries. That's it and that's all.

So what happened to "Manny's style of defense"
during the games when he made all those average QB's look like all Americans.

I agree with Macho. Bringing in TROB should allow Manny to be more aggressive with our CBs. Not only did we bring in TROb but we also brought in TS at CB. Now if it is still a talent issue, what happens in 2022 when we land a bunch of 4 and 5 star kids? Will they be allowed to run press man?

"Bringing in TROB should allow Manny to be more aggressive with our CBs"

Not if Manny doesn't believe in doing that.
hopefully thats not the case...we shall see.

I could give zero ***** about Barry Jackson or his articles. Inday texted me his article was ripping king and his nfl future and our talent from an " nfl exec". Yet we had five scouts at our first practice. Let's talk after next years draft
I was just reading that. Bolden, Mallory and Tyrique Stevenson have no chance to go in the top rounds? What?

They weren't getting pressure on the QB. You know, the thing this defense is predicated on.

The reality is, there weren't many instances of opposing QB's lighting up Manny's defense. We had the #1 pass defense in the country during Manny's last season as DC.

As it should be, much is being discussed about Manny calling the D plays this year and we should expect the same results we’ve had when he was the DC. If Manny has shown us anything, it’s that he’s not averse to change.

I would venture to say, TRob will have a lot of input into how the DB’s play. Simpson will no doubt have his guys ready. And there’s an analyst on staff that’s hardly getting a mention - Bob Shoop. Maybe that’s a good thing.

Take from this what u want; however if u do the avg of both DCs from their 1st two yrs, Diaz has Blake beat in some categories & vise versa. The notion of getting better every yr under Diaz is not true. The outlier, which allowed Diaz to con his way to being HC was yr 3. I broke yr 3 down in another thread, and the level of incompetent offenses we faced in the 2018-2019 season makes The Washington Generals blush.

Both DCs had some set backs as 2nd yr DCs, it’s just that Baker’s step back was greater.

"there weren't many instances of opposing QB's lighting up Manny's defense"

Can't statistically say any QB carved his defense that year

That’s a problem with playing a bend but don’t break defense.
