SIAP - Jobe to Prep School in Connecticut

I went to a well known prep school in CT, many years ago, and we always had 5th year Seniors who came to play football or hockey. These PGs (Post Graduates) were the BMOC and ruled the fields they played on which allowed them to get college visibility. It was common practice.

It was also common for them to get in trouble. Numerous distractions, especially after season was over. Lot of rich kids around with money to burn led to trouble.

Hope not for his sake but with watching closely. I hope for the best for the kid but CT is a long way from FL.

He only needs to go for one semester, which means he'll pay football there, complete his course requirements, and early enroll at Miami in December. So not a lot of off-season time to get into trouble. That's why his dad says he needs Richt's staff and the Miami admin to help him get this all done so he can be back. Otherwise, I think the unstated threat is that he's SEC bound.

The good news is that Jobe and his family are serious enough to take this step. Also it will be virtually impossible for him to trip to Baga and elsewhere after late August, and it will force all those hick SEC schools to go way out of their way if they want to pay special attention to him, meaning they'll either skip him or spend less time in South Florida.

We've known this was going to happen for a whilenow, but No way this is good for us. All this does it takes all those easy visits we could have had away.
Now once he moves to connecticut, he might visit us less than UF or some ****.

No way to flip this in a positive manner.

Do you realize that schools are allowed to pay for recruits' travel expenses when he uses an OV...I believe each recruit gets 5 OVs

Do You realize 1 OV is meaningless when the kid lived in South Florida and has visited us like 10 times since signing day.
a bunch of unofficial visits are more important than 1 OV. It's not like he can use all 5 OV's on us.

OVs are very important though, but not nearly as important for kids that are already in South Florida.
Anyways hes a dude thats gunna take an OV to Bama, UF, etc anyways.

Food for thought........Every staff...everywhere....takes his chances with a recruit here n there!! Some are well thought out....some are goldenesque!! Lets say....the staff is taking a chance here..(safe to say)..name a better athlete...with more to return! This is a high yield investment!! That chess game again!!

When I was at Hotchkiss, there were a few PG's but not many, and I don't remember any problems. But to your point, I think some of these schools that have specialist PG programs for athletes are now better situated to handle the kids and their adjustment. my sense is that it will be good for jobe

It could be good to experience life away from Miami without having to commit to a school, and trust me Connecticut is gonna be wack when it's cold and alot of kids get home sick. It does suck that he isn't in our backyard but I think he ends up a cane.

I was @ Choate, again a few years ago. I agree that these schools should, stress should, be more sophisticated now. Big thing then was drinking age was 18 and the PGs could buy beer while we couldn't :sneakiness:

How can you say that you didn't see it posted anywhere while also saying Seen In Another Post in the title?

LMAO, I always that that **** meant you saw it somewhere else. LMAO, My bad and yes it's been posted already.
