BAMA has been competing with every team in the NCAA for over a hundred years for the elite talent in college football and is doing just fine. I would say that BAMA just accumulated more talent than the aggies if you look at recruiting and the amount of talent that just came through the transfer portal. As far as the media storm, as Steve Spurrier said best about Jimbo Fisher, "Did Saban say something that wasn't true"? The SEC commish stated bluntly in his response, "We're seeing just straight payments."
Every team loses, we just can’t have that being beaten by three touchdowns and a field goal. We have to compete.
Yep, been watching college ball a loooong time. Whenever you see top flight talent congregate in only a few spots like it has the past 10 years or so, you can bet cheating is and has been off the chain.

Hyperbole doesn't change the cold hard facts. No point in hating the messenger because of the message. NIL is unsustainable in its present form. That point has been made by the media, sports fans, head coaches on many occasions and in numerous articles. When the most influential of voices are saying it, it gets noticed. The feds haven't moved, the NCAA is paralyzed, per usual, and kids are getting straight payments from boosters to go to certain schools. I have no problem with coach Saban moving the needle.
Actually, with the sheer amount of BAMA stuff on this forum, it would appear I'm a lot more derelict in my responsibilities than on cue.
The cold hard facts are bama, and a few other teams, have been straight cheating by paying players to go to certain schools. The cold hard facts are now that any team can legally pay players, certain schools, their coaches, their fans, and their media shills, see their 'competitive' advantage going away and are ****ed/crying about it to anyone who'll listen. saban is ****ed because he can't buy the top ranked recruiting class year in and year out now. The messenger is hated because he's a two faced piece of **** and should shut the **** up about paying players when anyone with a brain cell knows he's been doing it for years. Save it bagdad bob.. we all know what's happening.
With regards to TAMU, Saban didn't say anything academically incorrect. His implications however were egregious and duplicitious. I'd argue he demonstrably lied when he stated Bama doesn't pay players.
Look at the data, that actually exists. BAMA is doing just fine in recruiting and continues to get first pick in the magic portal. Your definition of "competitive advantage" through direct booster payment to high school recruits is mythology. Pure theory that opposing teams are putting forth as the motive for the latest coach Saban-speak.
NIL is absolutely sustainable in it's present form.
Well, you could argue most anything you have an emotional predisposition to argue, with bias. Doesn't mean you can get your point passed hearsay and speculation. And when you're done, NIL is still a freakin' mess and unsustainable in its present wild west form.
So y’all dropping huge bags under the table and having a monopoly ( minus Uga) on recruiting wasn’t the wild Wild West? Now that there’s a over the table way of doing things it’s now out of control? Instead of the same couple schools having all the power the Nil opens the door for a handful more teams to join the party.
