SIAP Jimbo/Nick Saban beef

I'm with Saban honestly.

I'm glad we have the money. Something that I never thought I'd get to say as a Miami fan.

But fundamentally this will build a even more elitist college football than before. Normally things pass for a team dominating. If not then the coach leaves or retires. If not then there will be sanctions (F### the NCAA)... Something to shift power.

Except for Saban, nothing passes and the **** rising life expectancy seems he'll be around until he physically can't chew someone out. But that will never happen. His legend and clout keep growing. By the time he is in a chair and needs a nurse to feed him a simple glance will be enough to strike fear in his players.

It just means the haves will have more and the have nots will truly need a miracle. Saban isn't saying Alabama can't or won't compete with NIL he is just pointing out the unjust nature of how it's happening.

If we lose to A&M I hope people don't complain about Jimbo & NIL

Saban reached out to Deon and Jimbo to apologize. Still will be game of the year A&M v Bama
Bama can’t compete with Texas oil and energy money. Saban knows that. That’s why he was crying about it. He knows unless the NIL is regulated his stay at the top of college football will come to an end

My gut feeling is that we will beat A&M. We won't go in flat, and we're the underdogs. We will have a game plan - by some of the best coaches - and we will be able to adjust for once.

Jimbo is inconsistent - and always does less with more. I know he beat Saban - but even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut.
Considering Jimbo was the first of Saban’s former assistants to beat him I guess it took 20 years for that blind squirrel to find it

I've said this from day 1.

IF NIL keeps on this track, and IF some schools in larger economic regions want to play, it is very possible Texas, TAMU, SMU, TCU, USC, UCLA, UNC, Miami, Rutgers, Maryland become much more competitive in the years ahead than the years behind. Even Vanderbilt could become a force.

Schools like Clemson, Auburn, Alabama, Coastal Carolina, etc will struggle to keep up. They'll need for more singular big whale donor support.

That's why we will likely see some sort of salary cap + collective bargaining Frankenstein eventually come to CFB (or successor league). Curious how they will work through 17 year olds. Anyone know how employment of child actors is done??

BAMA has been competing with every team in the NCAA for over a hundred years for the elite talent in college football and is doing just fine. I would say that BAMA just accumulated more talent than the aggies if you look at recruiting and the amount of talent that just came through the transfer portal. As far as the media storm, as Steve Spurrier said best about Jimbo Fisher, "Did Saban say something that wasn't true"? The SEC commish stated bluntly in his response, "We're seeing just straight payments."

Of course, they are.

SMD you Bama honk.

You guys have been massively paying your players under the table for decades, and no one has been able to compete except for maybe Georgia and LSU, because you were protected by your redneck buddy running the NCAA.

It’s been a straight up criminal organization you’ve run.

Now run along and GFY, the college football world has somewhat leveled, and your midget coach is ****ed.

If everyone's going to some old white dude that has no type of swag I'm sorry something fishy. I think he's a great speaker and alot of the things he says he keeps it a buck I give him that. But there is no way every top kid goes to him that's basically impossible. He hits the lotto wherever he goes if they have the budget, and are willing to do anything neccessary to win. I always found that fishy it just doesn't make any sense at all. Then when he hits the ground running in year four fans say "oh he can use the NFL players as his recruiting pitch" when he was landing guys like that before he had that very pitch. It's just a load of **** this dude cheats period. I'm not even on the inside I'm an observer and can see the **** a mile away.
Yep, been watching college ball a loooong time. Whenever you see top flight talent congregate in only a few spots like it has the past 10 years or so, you can bet cheating is and has been off the chain.

Hyperbole doesn't change the cold hard facts. No point in hating the messenger because of the message. NIL is unsustainable in its present form. That point has been made by the media, sports fans, head coaches on many occasions and in numerous articles. When the most influential of voices are saying it, it gets noticed. The feds haven't moved, the NCAA is paralyzed, per usual, and kids are getting straight payments from boosters to go to certain schools. I have no problem with coach Saban moving the needle.

…… and kids are getting straight payments from boosters to go to certain schools.….

You motherfūcker… you are coming on here and saying this with a straight face?

What in the holy fūck do you think you crackers have been doing for the last 15 or 20 years?

You have got to be fūcking kidding me that you just posted this.

An Alabama fan just came on here to complain that boosters are paying players to go to certain schools.

My head is spinning like a top.

@RVACane don’t ban this guy, this has got to be pinned forever. This sheer hypocrisy is mind-boggling

The cold hard facts are bama, and a few other teams, have been straight cheating by paying players to go to certain schools. The cold hard facts are now that any team can legally pay players, certain schools, their coaches, their fans, and their media shills, see their 'competitive' advantage going away and are ****ed/crying about it to anyone who'll listen. saban is ****ed because he can't buy the top ranked recruiting class year in and year out now. The messenger is hated because he's a two faced piece of **** and should shut the **** up about paying players when anyone with a brain cell knows he's been doing it for years. Save it bagdad bob.. we all know what's happening.

With regards to TAMU, Saban didn't say anything academically incorrect. His implications however were egregious and duplicitious. I'd argue he demonstrably lied when he stated Bama doesn't pay players.

I believe that's what got most people fired up.

Look at the data, that actually exists. BAMA is doing just fine in recruiting and continues to get first pick in the magic portal. Your definition of "competitive advantage" through direct booster payment to high school recruits is mythology. Pure theory that opposing teams are putting forth as the motive for the latest coach Saban-speak.

NIL is absolutely sustainable in it's present form.

The issue is it is only sustainable for a few teams. I'm not convinced Bama is one of those teams long-term.

Well, you could argue most anything you have an emotional predisposition to argue, with bias. Doesn't mean you can get your point passed hearsay and speculation. And when you're done, NIL is still a freakin' mess and unsustainable in its present wild west form.

So y’all dropping huge bags under the table and having a monopoly ( minus Uga) on recruiting wasn’t the wild Wild West? Now that there’s a over the table way of doing things it’s now out of control? Instead of the same couple schools having all the power the Nil opens the door for a handful more teams to join the party.

Fact is It’s always been a mess , a mess that favored you lol. That’s the fact of the matter and where all the butthurt comes from.

I'm not following your first point. Walk me through this.

Yes, NIL is a mess and yes it is 100% sustainable. The math always levels, just not for everybody.
