Shemar Stewart

What about the "deferred language" of a contract? Can't that be argued?

Didn't Joey Bosa hold out from the Chargers for pursing if he were cut from his rookie contract, that he would still be guaranteed the full value? I vaguely remember this.

And since Shemar is considered a boom or bust guy, I'd be fighting for the same thing Joey Bosa did.

------- EDIT:

ChatGPT is a gawd!

Reasons for the Holdout

  1. Offset Language: The Chargers insisted on including offset language in Bosa's contract. This clause would allow the team to recoup a portion of Bosa's guaranteed money if he were released before the contract's end and signed by another team. Bosa's representatives opposed this, seeking to maximize his financial security

naw heard something that jayden higgins who is from dade and was a 2nd rounder in the draft got or is about to get a guaranteed contract..willing to bet this is what shemar is waiting on as well.

People need to start paying off these recruiting sites for these “5 star” rankings… has cruised by from some sites opinions

This is more of the Bengals continuing to be the cheapest team in the NFL than it is a Stewart thing

“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Bengals tried to get Stewart signed. As we understand it, the talks bogged down regarding the percentage of compensation in future years to be paid as a training-camp roster bonus.

The training-camp roster bonus has become a device for putting a sizable chunk of the player’s pay in his pockets in future years, early in the season. In this case, the numbers offered by the Bengals reflected a lower percentage than the 17th overall pick received in 2024.”

Bro this kid lmao likely out of league in 3 seasons.
I watched the whole interview today. He's in a tough spot and handled it well IMO.

As much as I wanted to say I agree with your comment, it does seem like he has grown up considerably in the past few years. Hoping this can get resolved quickly, but this certainly isn't as one-sided as it initially appeared.

Bengals always playing these games for some reason.

He's screwed after his rookie deal is up.

No team is going to give him a market value 2nd contract, just because they know he's going to be advised to hold out.

Unless he plays at an All-Pro level in his first 4 years, he'll be playing for low ball figures for the majority of his career.

No other team is trying to ***** their rookies over with clauses trying to void the GTD money, its just the bengals being broke as always.
