Suspending a college football player for smoking pot is beyond stupid. It's college. Everybody does it and it doesnt have any effect on the football field.

The drug policy at most schools is typically 2 failed drug tests before any type of suspension. At some schools its 3. What exactly are you wanting the NCAA to do and why is it even an NCAA issue. Hint for you, typically when a kid is suspended for 'violation of team rules' then that means he failed a drug test. Miami has had a few recently, you want the NCAA involved there too?

Its probably tobacco.

Just to go on record...I think marijuana laws are dumb. Regardless, it is a banned substance and this is clear evidence that he is using. Agree..NCAA/SEC are a ******* joke. This wont even get real press time. But let there be a text book scandle at Miami...CNN and ESPN setting up shop outside of campus

i think the point OP was making is that if this were a Miami player, he would be suspended immediately.

So what? The school would be doing it with their violating team rules, Freeze and ole miss decided not to. Thats on them. They trying to win by any means obviously, Maybe I am misplacing the fake outrage as envy?

Well...Yeah!! Of course they're about winning, ESPN, the NCAA and the SEC have tapped into a market largely void of professional sports franchises. The only other sport that competes with that market, is NASCAR.

The programs that place high academic burdens on recruits/players, don't often compete for championships. Stanford has always had a great model for minimizing the burden of academics on its athletes, but they're still selective and have a lower threshold of tolerance for this type of stupidity.

If you're going to recruit and play the best football players in this country, you must accept the use of marijuana. In many cases, support and protect the players that use it. The only thing the players have to do...is protect themselves from acts of stupidity. Like being photographed using drugs, accepting cash, buying expensive items or committing theft/rape/murder. Well, they're equipped to negotiate and navigate around rape and theft as well. It is, what it is.

That picture is really blurry and hard to prove its him or what is in the bong. I think they can only be suspended if they fail a drug test.

listen, i personally don't care for the rule. marijuana doesn't remotely give you a competitive advantage. but not any other organization, they have their drug free policies. this really just points out another aspect of the super obvious uneven playing field that is college football. some schools are held to that standard and are handicapped while others thrive.

Whoever sent that long *** snapchat out is a real McAsshole.

Probably gonna get his *** beat if it hasn't happened already.

Find me the weed in the picture. There defense is simply, "We don't know what was in and neither does anybody else. What are you going to suspend him for?" And they are right.

Miami has turned into a ****** program kicking kids out at the first sign of trouble. Shlt, I wish we "only cared about winning."

Donna got her wish. The outlaw, renegade program we know is dead. We don't win by 50 and dance in your end zone anymore; we get blown out, make excuses, and then help an old lady cross the street on our way to volunteer at the soup kitchen.
